asked for a quote on a tree in my back yard. Since Bill was a certified Arborist, he said he thinks the tree could be saved.  I had wanted to meet with him out there, but he went ahead and gave a quote.  His quote was:

Remove large limb on ground at back yard

Removed limb in cedar elm next to break

Trim Dead limbs over home

Remove hanging branch in Elm in front.

he gave a quote of 453.69 (tax included)

This was what I wanted done, so I hired him.  He then text or email me that the work was done, I went out to inspect and he did not trim the dead limbs above house.  He did the other stuff, and cleaned up the wood.   I called him, and ask if I could meet him out there. Again he went on his own and said he did the work. I went to check, and the same dead limbs were there (I sent him pictures).  After that he would not answer my calls, text or emails.  So I sent him partial payment, and will never use him again.

TREES WERE CUT AND MOVED TO ROW FOR PICK UP. TREES WERE DELIVERED AND LEFT IN HIGH WINDS TO TOPPLE OVER AND BREAK. WHEN THEY DID RETURN TO PLANT THEM THE JOB WAS DONE SO POORLY THAT 5 OF THEM DIED AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE ON ANY PLANTED TREE BY THEM. SO IT COSTS EVEN MORE. I BELIEVE THE COMPANY GOUGED OR WAS SO INEPT IN HIRING UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE AFTER THE BASTROP COUNTY FIRE AND THEY WERE JUST INTERESTED IN MAKING A KILLING.

Unlike most contractors (even the ones with good ratings on Angie's list) these guys were actually very responsive by e-mail. I was able to schedule an on site visit to get an estimate within a few days of my initial e-mail and from there schedule an appointment to get the tree removed with no hassle at all. The proprietor is a certified arborist, retired USMC veteran, and an all around nice guy who was very easy to work with.

The only reason I gave a B on punctuality is that there was a mixup on the date he was to come out and give the estimate, but he was very apologetic and fixed the mixup immediately to my satisfaction. Punctuality for showing up to do the work was no problem at all.

The tree was very close to my house, which scared me a bit about this project and the reason I didn't hire any old flunky with a chainsaw for the job. They expertly removed the tree even in tight quarters without any collateral damage. They were in complete control of that big ole tree the whole time.

The quality of the work and cleanup was very good. You couldn't even tell they had been there when the job was done, aside from a tree being gone of course.

For the amount of work they did, the price was very reasonable.

We had a very large dead pine tree in the backyard. We noticed on a Friday that it appeared to be ready to fall. We called and Bastrop Tree Service came out on Saturday and took a look. They really spent time looking at the tree to figure out how to take it out. It was huge and probably 50 years old. Then they came on Monday and were able to take it out with no damage to our fence, other trees, building structures or anything. They then shredded it and took away the dead materials. We have had them do work before and have always been pleased with both the service and price. Before we met them we had used some of the itinerate tree trimmers and there is simply no comparison. The itinerants charged a lot more money and didn't have the knowledge nor did they pick up the dead materials and take them away.
