Landscape Alternatives

Arrived as promised; worked at removing old brown patches (large areas in front and back yards); resodded with St. Augustine; watered; cleaned up. Completed in one day and used a trailer load of sod.

They're excellent. I've been using them for a number of years. We have a very small lawn with a covered patio so the charge is a lot less than for someone with a bigger lawn. They usually send out 4 workers. You don't have to tell them what to do. Once you tell them what you want, they'll do all those extra things. Lately, they know what we want and so they send two people. They are very meticulous and thorough. They do the covered patio with the blower. They lock up the dogs when they come to do the work so that they don't get lost. We've had people before and we aren't as pleased. They planted a tree for us and it was growing crooked so they took it out. They got us another tree at a low cost and it still grew crooked. They got another tree, still at a low cost and planted it in another area and the tree keeps growing bigger and bigger now. We were very pleased with them. We don't have to nag them with anything because they know what to do. We pay more than what we did with the previous providers but it is worth it.

The workers arrived on schedule and began cleaning the yards including the leaves that had collected under the bushes around the house (this work was not in the contract but they did it anyway).  All the old yard, front, back and side was mowed and scalped.  Then they tilled the ground in all the areas.  [Dozens of grackles followed him around eating the unearthed worms and acorns.]  Jose, the owner, laid out the stone separation between the new grass area and the garden area.  They were able to lay half of the stones the first day.  The second day the laid the rest of the stones (wall and stepping).  A ditch was dug, concrete laid and then the stones laid in the concrete and grout laid between the stones.  Also on this day, the sprinkler system (4 zones) were installed.  Day three, they laid the grass, front and back, and planted the monkey grass and caladiums (my wife requested these).  Day four, they laid ground cover in the garden areas (it stunk) and instructed me on the use of the sprinkler system.  The work was now complete.  The next day Jose came for a visit and said we needed to change the watering time, increasing it for the first two weeks.  He gave me a through walk through and I paid him.  He said he will return a few times a week, each week next month, to monitor the grass and check the sprinklers.  He guarantees the sprinklers for a year. I am extremely happy.  Every evening when his men finished, they cleaned up the entire area and put the trash in the alley for pick up.  At no extra expense, they trimmed all my hedges and cleaned beneath them.  I now have a beautiful yard.  Thank you Jose.

UPDATE:  I had some areas where the new sprinkler system was not watering and I called Jose, the owner, to come out and look.  He came out later that same day.  He made some sprinkler head adjustments and increased the watering time since these are HOT summer days.  I asked him about some tree trimming but he told me I should wait until next year.
