James Hicks Plumbing

Recently we suffered a big freeze here in the D/FW area, and due to us not leaving the water dripping in our north-facing bathroom, our hot water pipe under that bathroom froze.  Living in a mobile home that was made around 1975, and having pipes just as old and rusted, I knew the work was going to be challenging and that many plumbers may not want to do the job.  After using Angie's List  to locate good (A-rated) plumbers in the area and calling around to 6 of them only to be told they were too busy (or not interested) to do the job, my Mom finally used the phone book and came across James' listing.
She called and spoke with Mr. Hicks himself, and he told her that he, personally, would be at my home by 9:30am the next morning.  Sure enough, he came the next morning (actually a little early, but no problem with that!) and after going over with her what the problem was and inspecting the area, he quoted her a price.  James started working right after she agreed to the quote and didn't waste any time.  He removed the under-pending on the house, and dug himself a trench to work under the house's support beams.  After a little bit, he came to the door and knocked to let her know he was finished with the job.  He brought the pipe section that was affected and showed her where the break had occurred.  He also explained how he did the repair and offered to show her, but she trusted him.  He went ahead at that point and put the under-pending back on the house and then came to the door to collect his fee.  He said the price to her and she had to stop him for a second and ask him to repeat himself because it was LOWER than what he had originally quoted!  She asked him if he knew he was charging less than what he quoted, and he said he knew.  She couldn't believe his generosity and neither could I, it's often rare these days to find someone as honest and generous as he was.  You know, his phone book ad said that he was fast-friendly-reliable, and that, he is.  I will definitely call him again when I get ready to redo the pipes under this house (which he said he knew he could do easily), and I will definitely refer him to anyone else who needs a good and honest plumber!  Thanks Mr. Hicks!!!

James work was over the top! He did a wonderful job under less than ideal conditions. The entire job was quite a challenge as the plumbing was over 30 years old. He made everything work out beautifully and stayed within his initial quote. In all there were 2 appointments and he was prompt for each one. He didn't make any changes without a consult so there were no surprises. The old outdated plumbing offered quite a challenge but he met it very gracefully! I will definitely call him for the next plumbing work I need done.
