It’s been almost a year, but I’m finally doing our review for Gorman Mechanical. We wanted to wait until all the bugs were worked out first and get through all seasons with them before doing a review. We decided to get quotes from (4) different HVAC companies that were certified Trane dealers/installers, including the company that had installed our (3) original Trane units. We had been using that company since we purchased our house in 2005 until 2018. We decided to go with Gorman Mechanical for a few reasons. The first was due to David, the Salesperson, being such a great guy to deal with…very accommodating and trying to get us the best price. We let him know that we had (3) other estimates from other Trane HVAC companies and he talked with Michael and got us a great deal. It was between Gorman and another HVAC company that we really liked a lot as well and would highly recommend them too. It was a very tough decision. The second thing was that Gorman Mechanical offered 24/7 emergency/after-hours service, which we really wanted in a company, especially living in Texas with the weather here. The third thing, and most important for us, was the better warranty and maintenance that we would be getting from Gorman. We always have maintenance done on our units twice a year, (winter/summer), and we were getting a great deal on the maintenance that no other company was offering and a better warranty. Even though we were paying a little more in the beginning, we were coming out ahead within the 5 years. That’s really what put us over the top with Gorman and deciding to go with them…so glad we did. We had Gorman install (3) new complete Trane units in our house in June 2018. We purchased (3) of the Trane XV18 TruComfort Variable-Speed Communicating Air Conditioners, the matching XC80 Variable-Speed Furnaces with ComfortLink Communicating Technology and the ComfortLink II XL1050 (TZON 1050) Communicating Programmable Thermostats. These units replaced our old 2-Stage Trane units that were approximately 15 years old and were top of the line back in the day. We really like these Trane HVAC Systems and they’ve really helped reduced the cost of electricity and keep the house at a really great even temperature throughout. The installers that did our installation are their best installers, as far as we’re concerned. It was a father and son team, I believe it was Miguel Sr. and Miguel Jr., with an additional son helping with the installs during the summer. These guys were the best and such a pleasure to deal with! It took them a couple days, but we did have (3) complete old units that had to be taken out and new ones installed in their place, as well as whatever else needed to be done. They took out all the old equipment from the attics and outside and installed all the new equipment very carefully. They cleaned everything up and didn’t damage anything, which was amazing, especially with the tight spaces they had to deal with in some instances. They rerouted duct work, added in dampers, cleaned out vents/vent covers, etc., for the new units to function properly. They took out each old unit separately and installed each new unit in its place, only better, and tested each unit as it was installed to make sure it was working properly. They didn’t leave us without air conditioning in June, in Texas…thank goodness…during the couple days when they were doing the install. Michael, the owner, came by to check on the guys doing the install and hung out with them for a few minutes to see how everything was going, how they were doing and just chat with them for a bit. We actually got to meet Michael when he stopped by our house…such a nice guy. We didn’t even know he was the owner…he only introduced himself as Michael. Also, we were told by David, the Salesperson, that there would be bugs that would have to be worked out. It’s just that way when taking out old and installing new HVAC systems…we were expecting it, but it was nice that David told us that ahead of time. We did run into a few issues throughout the last year, which is to be expected, but can be a bit frustrating at times. Here’s just a few of the issues we ran into. One of Units wasn’t cooling down & the TZON 1050 Thermostat touchscreen wasn’t working properly either. After we called them, they had Techs out within a couple of days to replace the Thermostat and do testing on the unit to fix the cooling issues & then check everything else out to make sure it was working the way it should be. They had it up & running within a couple days. Then we had a couple leaks on one of the upstairs attic units that was leaking into the drain pan underneath the unit. After we saw the water in the pan…we called Gorman and they had the Techs out very quickly to repair the leak(s) and make sure the unit was working properly. We also had a few issues with the Thermostats sending error messages and misc. other issues that they immediately sent various Techs out to diagnose and repair. Some of these issues were after hours and they were very responsive and took care of them. It’ll be a year next month that we’ve had the new units installed and all seems to be working great now. We just had our summer maintenance done. After a few months, we had Gorman install Surge Protectors on each unit…(6) total. One on each Furnace Unit in the attic and one on each A/C Unit outside. Not an expensive investment to do this, but a great way of protecting very expensive HVAC equipment…especially with Texas weather that’s totally unpredictable at times. Weather that can freak out or fry your Communicating Systems and Thermostats. Gorman’s Techs are wonderful guys…they seem very knowledgeable and are great to deal with. Their staff in the office are awesome to deal with as well. The girls that we speak with to schedule service or maintenance, etc., are wonderful and very friendly. We have already recommended Gorman Mechanical to people we know and some of them have used Gorman for their HVAC needs in their homes as well. Along the way, we’ve also found out from other friends that Gorman Mechanical is their HVAC company too…small world. We would highly recommend this company for your Trane and other HVAC needs. Such great customer service...which is very rare to find these days. Love this company…such a pleasure to deal with…so glad we found them.
