I called American Home Shield - will be filing a complaint against them too - because my a/c fan would not come on. Technician came out here and I could tell he found the problem, because I watched him closely and I do have some experience with home remodeling. I think it was probably a capacitor. Anyway, he began with this spiel about how he would have to remove the coil and clean it and then that would cost $150.00 for replacement Freon not paid by insurance. He further began to try and talk me into buying a whole new a/c system.
This company has no integrity. They thought they could take advantage of an older female, and there are no telling how many they have ripped off. Fortunately, I have some experience in these matters and no better.
properly. I wanted both units looked at to make sure they were both running properly. When the Airwise Tech arrived on 6/20/14 he said he would only look at the one unit. He stated he only had a work order for the one unit. Obviously he didn't check it very thoroughly. I was never told not to run the unit(s) on 6/20/14 when the Tech was originally at my home.
The Tech was there for 5-10 min total. He looked at the inside unit, looked at the outside unit, said a fan was going out, he would need to order one and it would be 2-3 days. I never heard back from Airwise until 7/5, after I called AHS on 7/4 to report the unit was leaking and had caused water damage to my ceiling. Airwise was in no rush to get to my home, had no one that could come out until 7/7/14 and told me I shouldn't have been running the unit.
No one told me not to run it and how are you ok with telling a customer they can not run their AC at the end of June in Texas, for over 2 weeks. That would be a major health violation.
The unit that Airwise and quot;looked atand quot; on 6/20 started leaking on 7/4/14.
When I saw water dripping from my kitchen ceiling downstairs on 7/4/14, I immediately went upstairs, opened the
closet, pulled the filter out of the upstairs unit (the unit that Airwise
looked at on 6/20/14) and saw where the water was leaking from the unit.
I took the vent off underneath the unit to get better access. After getting the water up with my wet vac, I placed pans underneath the leaking unit as not to cause further damage to my ceiling downstairs. Once I got the water up and placed the
pans underneath the unit the ceiling downstairs stopped dripping water and the wood directly underneath the unit dried up.
Airwise is trying to say that the leak that caused the ceiling damage was the other unit which is completely false. I can’t get underneath that unit, nothing around it was wet and the ceiling stopped leaking as soon as I got the water up underneath the unit they looked at on 6/20/14.
There was no leak or damage to my kitchen ceiling prior to 7/4/14.
I called AHS back on 7/4/14 to report the leaking issue and told them the service had not been completed from their first visit on 6/20/14 Since it was a Holiday I didn't receive a call back from Airwise until the afternoon of 7/5/14. No one seemed too concerned that it had been two weeks since they had been out there to replace a fan and that I had water dripping in my kitchen. They didn't come back out until Monday 7/7/14.
AHS has records,
recordings and notes from my calls to them on 6/19/14, 7/4/14, 7/5/14 and 7/7/14. There are no records or recordings of me mentioning any water damage to my ceiling on my initial call on 6/19 because there was none at that time.
I received a call today from a man with Airwise. He said “I’m calling because you said in one of your letters to the BBB that you haven’t received a call from anyone at Airewise so, I’m calling. I said “Ok’. He then kind of laughed and said “we’re not paying the damage to your home. We have recordings of you and we are not responsible for your damage.” I told him ok, I would like to hear the recordings. He then said “I guess we will have to settle this in court. Either you can try to sue us or we will sue you. I would rather give my lawyer $5000.00 than pay any damage to your home with your antics i trying to get someone to pay for your damage for free.” I told him that and quot;they were a piece of workand quot; and he hung up on me.
He was condescending and had a sarcastic tone with me from the moment I answered the phone.
It’s not about the money and trying to get something for free. I can afford to pay for the damage myself but they cause this issue. If it was about me trying to get something for free I would have refused to pay the $150 service fee's.
I want them to pay to have my ceiling repaired, period! This is their mistake, not mine.
It’s the principle. It's about being an ethical and reputable Company. They need to fix their mistake.
The man that contacted me today is very unprofessional. Airwise is a very unprofessional and unethical company in my book.
Proceed with extreme caution if you use this company.

Susan Dagnan
1) When my AC unit was to initially be installed, after taking off work and waiting all day, this company called and wanted to reschedule, which was not acceptable.
2) I had a maintenance check scheduled, and the technician shut down the system to make the inspection and couldn't get it running again for several hours! He had to call for assistance. Our thermostat is highly sophisticated and not just anyone can work on it. Airwise installed this unit without sufficiently trained people who knew how to work on it. This was a new system that was installed less than a year ago.
3) The most recent incident on 7/20 - 7/22, was a result of a power outage; we were without air for 3 days while Airwise tried to get it running again. They did not arrive during the specified timeframe. They were very disorganized and didn't communicate very well. They had no sense of urgency, and when told they needed a specific part, they showed up very late, without the part. And then after further diagnosing, decided they needed the part and had to leave again to get it. Turns out they cannot get parts on the weekend! Since this issue had to do with a power outage I asked what we should do to prevent it, and the technician just shrugged his shoulders.
I'm very dissatisfied with their quality of work, lack of responsiveness and professionalism, and poor communications. Even from their scheduler.
They managed to get my system working again on the last incident. Although this was warranty work, I was so dissatisfied, I called another company recommended by the manufacturer and will only use them in the future.
I would NOT recommend them to anyone nor would I use them again. I give them a grade of and quot;Fand quot;.
