I have not used this company for regular maintenance, so I do not know how they are in that respect. We needed to replace the stone coping around our pool. Got the bid and oked it. Do not know they would be using a sub (H&H). The first H&H mason was a drunk and the work showed it. They replaced about half of the work after arguing about it. That looked ok, but the real surprise came later.

After a year, the poor quality of the stone was such that it deteriorated so badly that we had to have it replaced again. The new company did a great job and used good stone.

I would never use Westlake Pool & Spa for anything. They get pretty rude when thins don't go right.

"Hello, and thank you for your review, and we apologize if you feel we didn't meet your needs. Yet, we completed your job in April 2013. We cautioned you, and recommended using a lueter stone, rather than a limestone due to you having a salt pool, and the deterioration the salt would cause on such a porous product such as limestone. We also recommended the stone was sealed on a yearly basis. I am unclear as to why we received an F for professionalism, and some of your other grades, when we received this review from you in May 2013. Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2013 7:50 PM Subject: Thanks Mark, I want to thank you for your attention to detail and unswerving support during our pool renovation. Though it has been difficult with the setbacks, you were on the job and have resolved the problems as they arose. I very much appreciate that and your determination to provide A-plus service and results. Your customer service is stellar and I would recommend you and your company to my friends and clients. I look forward to a successful completion. Many thanks. While I understand you have (2) stones with chips, a year later, we have made an effort to schedule a site visit, that had to be rescheduled by yourself. It is unfair to post a review with false or inaccurate information. We hope a resolution can be reached soon. Thank You."

Weekly pool maintenance.  Probably not the least expensive company, but very responsive and responsible.

We ended up mutually parting ways due to several issues.  We had a terrible time having our pool completed, the quote of 5 weeks, turned into about 4.5 months and had several issues with subcontractors not showing up or saying they would be at the house at some time and would show up at a later/earlier time.  All labor seemed to be subcontracted out, so I'm not sure how much was actually Westlake's fault.  The tilework had the wrong grout color laid down and when I pointed it out, they smeared over it with the right color, which already made it look old.  In addition, the tiles on the spa were incorrect and were a different color that the rest of the pool, but when I noticed it, I just couldn't stand another delay.  Within a few months, the tile started coming off and we asked over and over for them to come repair and despite promises to come take a look, nothing happened.  We finally stopped paying them for the cleaning work to see if we could get a call back.  And when we said we would not pay until they came and fixed the tile which was about to go off warranty, they indicated that they would come fix the tile and then they would no longer be working with us (which was awesome, because we were about to part ways ourselves!)  After a whole new set of drama, where the tile guy told us they didn't make the tile anymore and he would have to install 1.5 inch tile that didn't match the rest, I flipped out on him telling him that I found it completely ridiculous, this was standard basic tile and if he couldn't get it, I found a million places online that I could order it from.  He left and 2 days later we had the right tile installed by them, with the wrong color grout (it was black and they smeared it on our beige coping).  But honestly, at this point, we were done.
When we finally obtained new pool service, we learned that a number of things were not kept up with for service, including not checking the salt cell during their service -- which required us to replace the entire thing in less than 1.5 years.
The owner is a very nice man, and I think really means well, I just think mismanagement of subcontractors and lack of oversight of employees led to a bad experience for us.

"I am sorry to read your review, and apologize if you felt we didn’t meet your needs. In concern, I did go back and review our records. Our portion of the pool renovation we did for you began in May 2011, and ended June 17, 2011, for a total of $18,000.00 Possibly the $180,000.00 was a typo, or other work done by other contractors. We do some of our renovation work in house, as well as work with subcontractors. We want to ensure in any of our renovations, our customers are receiving the expert in that particular trade. After our month’s free pool cleaning offered with any renovation, you then had us continue pool service for you from the end of June 2011 thru the end of August 2012. Our renovation warranties are separate from pool cleaning and repair services rendered. With the tile, it wasn’t not made anymore, the size of the 2x2 tile was made 1/8" inch smaller by the manufacturer. In keeping our customers budget in mind, to not have to replace all the waterline tile, we did ensure the tile was installed to appear the same as the existing waterline tile. We do wish you and your family the best in all your endeavors, and happiness with your pool."

Called and they were way too high for what I needed done.  Went with another company.
Response from WESTLAKE POOL & SPA

"I am sorry we were not able to meet your price point. I hope you were able to get your repair done, in the price that met your budget. I know we are not the most expensive, yet not the cheapest either. We feel our prices are very competitive, in addition to being able to provide the licensed, trained, and skilled technicians it takes to repair your pool equipment. Again, we apologize we weren't able to meet your needs, and wish you and your family the best in all your endeavors."

We noticed a burst pool pipe line during the recent fall freeze and contacted two companies - one of them our pool service who did not take on the job as it involved difficult access under the deck. Mark took it on and repaired it immediately.
We planned to repair the pool this winter anyway and from the four available, decided for his bid. The repair started promptly. There was no slacking, no delays except those imposed by weather, and the area was cleaned up at the end of every day.
Excellent craftsmanship, the work was done with constant supervision of every step. Mark was always available and prompt in contacting us regarding any additional findings and gave us multiple options with detailed information to chose from during repairs.
We were out of town for several days during this work and he emailed us photos and descriptions of every major step.
The crew left the area completely cleaned up and provided after repair service and maintenance as per contract.
Compared to similar service 10 years ago this experience was superbly outstanding. The price very reasonable.

I was very happy with all aspects of Westlake's work. They adhered to a schedule, performed excellent work, and the follow-up service has been commendable. (They've since found and repaired two other problems, helping me to improve and prolong the life of an older pool.) As they performed replastering work, they threw in a month of free cleaning. Frankly, I think this was invaluable as they scrubbed the plaster as needed. I've been very impressed with Westlake Pool and Spa's work, and would happily recommend them again.
