Work was okay

Viking fence just complete a 4 gate job for me and did a wonderful job.  I had several prices from different companies but Wayne Perry gave me the best quote and the most detailed.  4x6 cedar hinge posts, top notch 4" pickets and the best drop rod for the double drive gate.  I know fence construction and this was TOP QUALITY.  The crew chief, Jesus Recendez, did a superb job and cleaned up 100% afterwards, I had nothing to do.  No short cuts, everything was trimmed out to truly provide a privacy gate for a privacy fence.  When I go to replace more fence I will be returning to Viking and Wayne Perry and requesting Jesus Recendez as my crew chief.

Rick was very patient. I got an original bid about 2 - 3 years ago. In fact, they put me in the dead file. 
He patiently dug up my information and repriced everything.
He was always prompt with my appointments. His crew was prompt and did the work in two days.
I love my fence and my neighbors love it, too.

This is possibly the worst fencing company in the Austin area. Do NOT use Viking. When they installed my new wooden fence over a year ago, I didn't realize that the construction manager only nailed in the tops of some of the fence slats, leaving the bottoms open. My Scottie, Maddie, got out of this terrible fence on a windy day and was immediately hit by a car. I came home to find her body in the street. I called Viking and they sent over someone to check the rest of the fence and to do what they should have done originally- properly nailing in every fence slat. I honestly considered suing Viking at this point. Today, the wooden gate they installed fell off. IT FELL OFF. The entire section of fencing supporting this gate FELL OFF. It's currently propped up and I've erected a temporary barrier blocking my dogs' access to this whole section of fence, since it's wide open and now unfenced. I'm furious with Viking for building such a shoddy fence that it's now- only a year after being built- literally falling apart. I paid over $5k for this entire fence and concrete footing and what has this fence accomplished- it killed one of my dogs and now it's falling apart. DO NOT USE VIKING.

We had a great experience using Viking Fence.  Rick did a great job as the project manager, and Jeovany and his crew couldn't have been better. Rick was very responsive and great about working out a couple of weird issues with our prior fence and property,
and Jeovany and his crew worked hard and provided us a beautiful final product.

Great. Huge fence. For thousands less than other quotes

It went great. I wanted something custom horizontal and they have done a lot of horizontal work and helped me through it and we agreed on the price and I was happy with the work. They're very professional and also very creative in being able to come up with ideas and we made something work.

Viking Fence tore out our old fence and replaced it with a new three rail cedar fence.  Daryl Nixon was very responsive, friendly, and easy to work with.  The initial visit occurred the day after our request for a bid and the bid was emailed the next day.  The crew was on time and cleaned up all evidence of their work on both days of construction.  The fence looks great and we would absolutely use them again in the future.

Rick was our salesman and he was very nice. He made certain that we were very satisfied with the new fence. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was not being aware of the different grades for the pickets. We had a #3 installed but had I known the difference I would have spent a little more to have at least a #2. All of the pickets are thicker than most but #3 is not so nice on one side.
We pointed out the ones that we didn't like after they had installed them and they came back and replaced those pickets with better ones. I would also liked to have screws used instead of nails but we didn't ask for those either. The crew did not arrive for work until late everyday but they did stay until dark. The crew was not very concerned about the landscape and stepped all over some of the plants but I guess that is to be expected.
We love our new fence and would use Viking again.

Viking replaced all of my 15 year old rotting and leaning privacy fence and two gates. What a beautiful job they did! I had received bids from five companies for this project but decided on Viking for several reasons in addition to their competitive bid: Project Manager Rick Skaggs provided an on-site estimate in person at no charge and gave a full explanation of materials and methods for the installation. He was also able to quote the job on the spot. Rick expressed a lot of pride in the quality of lumber that Viking uses, pointing out that it would all be Western Red Cedar and that Viking is the only Texas fence company with its own lumber mill. Looking at my new fence, I’d say his pride in Viking’s lumber is well justified. Besides the quality of the lumber, two other points that Rick made which swayed me towards Viking was that the concrete around the posts would have a minimum depth of 15 inches, whereas other companies quoted 9 to 10 inches, and that the gate posts would be 4 x 6 inches, not the 4 x 4 inches all the other fence builders specified. And Rick was out at the job site for part of the first day to assure that the installers had a full understanding of how I wanted the fence built. Perfect job!

Immediate response from this company. Tom was our contact-- he was always available and professional. The new cedar fence is great-horizontal plan and the wood they use is top- notch. The boards and posts are made of much thicker cedar than other fences seen--great quality. Our wonderful workers Domingo and Luis were always on time and stayed late to complete the job; they were very professional and such hard workers. Any questions were answered and if they had any questions they let us know immediately. The fence was completed after we had a tree in the way removed and they came back to complete the fence immediately when called. All debris was removed--all clean-up was done very well. May be a little costly but I believe it was well worth the cost--in quality, professionalism, etc.

Brad came out as planned a gave me a quote fairly quickly. The quality of the product was very good. Price seemed reasonable.
My problem was more of the service. First, they hit and broke a sewer line. Brad quickly pointed out that any damage done to buried lines was my problem as per the contract (and it was in it). The grinder pump housing and tank were in plain sight and about 30 feet from the break. I am also surprised with some potential danger involved if it had been an electrical line that they did not ask for a locator service (although probably no help with sewer line) . Next, in digging holes, they put the diggings on top of decorative rocks for a few of the holes. I asked Brad to make sure that was cleaned up. After I asked, all they did was scoop off a little of the dirt on top, but did not clean the rocks down to the underlying fabric. I did it myself, and it was not that easy. He offered to give me a gift certificate for a meal ( as they offer for filling a recommendation in), then after pressing, he reduced my invoice by $45 (for my 3 hours of work). They also got some quick set on a couple of my deck stones. He offered to come clean them off, but by that time I really did not want them back on site.
Really my summarized concern is the difficulty I had with the company when a problem arose in helping set it right willingly. The end product was quite good.

I had a large (300') fence replacement project. Viking delivered Top-notch workmanship and materials at the lowest quoted price. Jimmy and Al were professional, fast and delivered an excellent product. Highly recommend Viking.

My experience went very well. The staff was professional and friendly while visiting. They were careful to not let the dog out while working. I was pleased with the outcome of the service and would recommend this company to others.

BUYER BEWARE.
I must start out by acknowledging that ownership eventual corrected their mistakes, but this company has now demonstrated the old and quot;bait and switchand quot; approach twice.
Most recently, I received an estimate for fencing and in the process was shown what is known as # 2 quality cedar boards. Upon installation, the materials were far below what I had been shown and had many more flaws than I was expecting (or had been lead to expect by the salesman). The installation crew was excellent though and I must compliment Ramon and Teo for there hands on workmanship.
Subsequently I called the company and was told that the salesman had written that he sold me a lower grade wood. The quality control specialist did come out and agreed to replace several boards. Subsequently, I spoke with the owner who admitted that the salesman had indeed shown me #2 boards, but then wrote for #3 quality.
The company did eventually replace all the boards - but then I found out that a previous job they did in 2008 (at a price of $6700) also was done with boards that were below the quality I thought I was purchasing (they installed 5/8and quot; lumber instead of the 3/4and quot; material they were supposed to). When I asked the owner about this, he said that occasional the mill makes mistakes or has mechanical issues.
The owner offered to and quot;make me satisfiedand quot; with a 10% discount. I explained I was not seeking any discounts - and frankly thought he should be embarrassed by that offer. So I paid in full to avoid the appearance I was accepting of there lack of credibility.
In closing, be cautious when dealing with Viking Fence - and especially with their sales staff. I recommend you get a sample of what you think you are purchasing so that you can compare it to what is delivered. While they owner did eventually correct their and quot;switchingand quot;, it was a frustrating and unpleasant experience.
