They rescheduled my job several times -initially I was told it would be done in August, but didn't get started til December. They didn't review my plumbing choices and didn't buy everything needed -which we discovered a week into the work. Clint sold me on a two shower head design but then didn't tell the people doing the work what was going on so they didn't prepare for the second shower head. When they did a bit of re-work to put in the shower head they cut corners, like measuring, and I ended up with the two showerheads overlapping at different heights. After weeks of trying to get them to address it, Clint finally came to my house only to insult me for wanting two shower heads in the first place, saying he never would have done that. He cursed several times and told me "you're gonna get what you get." The grout was uneven and noticeably discolored in places, the floor wasn't leveled so the water went to the center of the drain, they didn't put the shelf where I'd asked them to, etc- really no part of the workmanship was professional. He kept being unresponsive and ultimately we had to get another contractor to come finish the job. I'm really glad I did, as they found other issues- when they removed the tile they found that it came off too easily and the backboard had holes and moved with slight pressure (it shouldn't). I ended up having to redo most of the shower, else "you'll probably have issues with tile falling off in a few years." VanRossun and I terminated our contract with the understanding I'd be keeping the materials I'd already purchased (and already paid for 80% of the project even though I basically had to redo it all) but they weeks later still will not let me come get my glass. The glass was cut specifically for my shower so it's not like they can reuse it elsewhere, and still they will not let me have it. That is the kind of behavior you can expect from VanRossun. Go get it done right by someone who knows what they're doing and won't insult you for their incompetence, and ghost you while they keep the materials you bought.

Response from VanRossun Contracting & Consulting
"VanRossun Contracting & Consulting only charges a fee for an estimate on limited occasions. One of those occasions is prior to someone purchasing the home. This is because we are providing a service for the buyer. At this point, VRC is acting more as a consultant, rather than as a contractor bidding for a job. And more often than not, when buyers come to us during this process, they end up not even buying the home. This was an appointment time that someone else that already owns their home and is serious about having work done could have had. It is simply a policy that we have put into place to ensure that we can provide our services to the best of our abilities. As I mentioned on the phone yesterday, if we gave you a bid and you decided to move forward with us to do the work, the $150 would be credited to your job. At times, the $150 can save the potential buyer thousands of dollars buy providing them the ability to negotiate the price with the seller, or allows them to know that it isn't worth purchasing because the remodel/repairs would be too expensive. Most buyers understand this policy and can see where VRC is coming from. We are a business and do have to have certain policies in place, such as this one, in order to keep our business running. Finally, when I answer the phone and I speak to someone that is in the process of buying the home, I always explain to them that if they are certain that they are going to buy the house, just schedule the estimate for the day after closing so that it can be free. However, if you would like the estimate prior to closing for bargaining financing, or decision making purposes then the $150 fee is worth it. I do my best to make sure that every person I speak to is as informed as possible, and I try to help them with making the best decision for their situation. I apologize that you don't agree with our policy, but please do know that it is in place for a multitude of reasons. Thank you for your time, and again, I do apologize that we were not able to assist you in the manner that you were hoping. Sheridan Horton - Office Manager"

The job went extremely well. They excelled in all the critical areas:
- job was started and completed in almost exactly the time frame discussed (it took about 4 days)
- the crew was professional and courteous
- price was very competitive relative to other bids
Nic and company were responsive to last minute changes and did not nickel and dime us on anything. They are very generous and flexible with changes once the job gets underway.
We would most definitely use them again in the future.

They missed the first scheduled appointment due to overbooking. They said they would call the following Monday to reschedule. They did not call. On Tuesday I called their office to set the second appointment. Nick showed up on time the second attempt. We spent approxately an hour discussing the scope of work. When all was said and done he wrote a number on a piece of paper and slid it across the table as if I were buying a used car. I asked if he could itemize the estimate for comparison purposes. He took my email address and said he would send it to me. That was weeks ago and I have not heard from them since. It seems to me he had no intention of actually doing the work and therefore wasted his own time as well as mine. They run a radio ad with KOKE fm that states no job is too big or too small. Right! The next contractor we spoke to told me on the phone that the job was too small but at least he referred me to someone who could help us. I respect that. In my opinion Van Rossun contracting is nothing more than a radio ad.

Fabulous outcome! Everyday I admire my bathroom and my husband loves his new spacious closet. The Van Rossun family Are fun and awesome to work with. Samantha is a designer and spent many hours helping us pick out paint, tiles, Mirrors, lighting etc. No easy task. The work crew were punctual and cleaned up daily. The subcontractors were also Excellent. Our job was originally quoted to take 3-4 weeks but we were getting started in December and ran in to the Holidays. It actually took 7 weeks but was worth the time and the higher cost of using Van Rossun's was worth every penny! Call Clint, Samantha, or Nick. They will not

Our experience with them has been great. Everything was done smoothly and we were very pleased with the finished room. We would not be able to say anything bad about them. They were great and were helping us choose tiling, marble part of the floor and the pattern in the shower. They were very punctual so everything went real smoothly.

He is one of the contractors who came out with a bid for remodeling my kitchen. He has remodeled my bathrooms previously. His quality of work is good. After talking to a lot of contractors for kitchen remodeling his bid is higher than most of them. When he did the bathrooms I had a real issue with follow through and punctuality with him. I had allowed him to bid for remodeling my kitchen. When he did the bathrooms I was quiet upfront about things that I wasn’t happy about. I was upfront about the price when he gave me the bid for remodeling the kitchen. If his price was more in line with what I was willing to spend I would have strongly considered using him.
