Top Choice did everything requested in a highly professional manner and I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are not the cheapest but I did not want to trust my lawn and gardens to Jim-Bob in an old truck.

I told them one of the reasons I stopped using them is because the fertilizer company would come for 2 seconds and just leave. I mean it was no joke, I watched them from the window one day. There was one guy outside talking notes, and the other guy ran the thing you put weed fertilizer in on the side of the car. Then they were gone. I just told them this company has given Top choice a very bad name. Therefore I will resume with Top Choice now that my husband is deceased, but don't bring Emerald Landscaping in here. They seemed to be efficient, they seem to know what they're doing.

They used to cut my grass years ago, then I stopped using them because you have to sign up for like hedges and other things too if you want those services as a package. Once a month it's $41.24. They charge tax like most big companies. Then they'll cut it once a month next month, after that every other week. For the grass cutting I would say they are reasonable. I've seen some things they have, but it deemed to be over expensive. They do a nice job. If you email them or call them before 4:00 pm, generally someone is there.  We don't have really any set time. I did notice last month they called me and said that they were backed up from the months before because of the rain. They were going come Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Now they have this new thing, instead of sending you a bill, they have your credit card so as long as they show up it really doesn't matter when they come. I never really interacted with the workers, management is certainly professional. They're pretty quick, they finish in under 15 minutes.

The landscape workers are very polite and professional. After they have come to mow, it transforms our entire yard. All of the edging is done with such precision and the mowing is excellent. They are also very efficient with their time and very neat. We will definitely keep using their services.

I originally hire them to removed some hackberry trees and clear out a bed of shrubs.  They did a good job of that.  I had asked if they could do a walkway also and they assured me they could.  I met with their estimator and showed him what i wanted.  when they did the work they did not construct the ends of the edging to the correct curvature.  I had them come back out and fix that and also asked them to install two 2 x 4 granite slabs centered under two downspouts and across the walkway.  The edging on the walkway was too high; they just pounded it into the ground until it would not go further and filled it with granite.  The correct way to install the edging, especially in Austin, is to excavate a trench to the correct depth and then back fill it.  So the walkway slopes toward the house which will not work from a drainage stand point.  So, I went out myself and installed the edging correctly, removed the excess granite and slope the walkway correctly.  Should have done it myself in the first place.  Never use these folks for any type of landscaping.

I don't have a contract with Top Choice, but I do use them frequently when I can't get to my lawn because of travel and other issues.
They are always prompt and courteous and get to my lawn very quickly. I have used other services in the past, but none have matched the price/performance of Top Choice.
I highly recommend them!

We had scheduled lawn service and weed control/fertilizing only. A crew of four guys show up telling me they are going to be doing the edging and trimming our small front yard, since my wife set up the service I assumed she had asked them to do this. I asked them if this was part of the lawn service and they confirmed, however I was having difficulties communicating with the workers since they were not native English speakers. I left and when I returned they were done and gone. Less than a month before I had mulched around our trees and bushes and it looked nice. The guys that came out dug up around the trees and bushes and buried the mulch and covered it with the dirt and rocks from beneath the mulch. I was not home when they did this, but I was only gone for about an hour and a half. We were trying to sell our house so it had to look nice and I had to go and get 16 bags of much to replace it around all the trees and bushes. To my surprise we received a bill for over $180 for this "included" work. My wife was home and said two of the workers spent most of their time somewhere else. When we inquired about the charge we were told they had to do a lot of extra work hence the charge. Our front yard where they worked is very small, about 20' x 50' and contained 4 bushes along the power box that they trimmed and two trees where the mulch was dug around. Their website is unclear about this charge at best, and in my opinion misleading to hide this charge as if it is included. The fertilization and weed control cost $81 per application, but this means per type used not per visit, so if they use three different products,, you're paying $243 for one visit. The regular lawn service after this was fine, but for the 4 months we needed the service, since we were not living there while we were selling the house, the actual monthly charge for just the lawn service was $221, rather than $176 as advertised. Averaged over a longer period of time you might get a decent deal, but I think they count on people not being aware of this initial charge and end up paying way more per month than they planed to, and other companies prices are actually lower for the short term. I guess the moral of the story is "Buyer beware!"

There had been a lot of rain the area prior to the service completion, and the Top Choice office stayed in contact with us, providing updates on when the crew would be able to perform the service. I found it refreshing to be kept so aware of the status of the work and -- given that the circumstances were beyond their control -- also appreciative that they were still apologetic about the delays. The first rain-free day was the day they were out to complete the quarterly service. They did a wonderful and thorough job, too.
We first used Top Choice for holiday lighting one year ago and were very satisfied with the pricing, installation and service (on the rare instance when a bulb would go out). After trying a few other lawn care and landscaping companies, we decided to give Top Choice a try. They've provided exceptional service every step of the way. Their communication and follow up on our requests are always prompt and thorough. The crews that perform the work do a fantastic job, as well. After so many less than stellar lawn care company experiences over the year, we're so pleased to have found Top Choice!

The issues I have with Top Choice concern payment and scheduling practices. When you contract for services, they immediately want a credit card. I was just not going to do business with them because I won't just give out my credit card info for occasional services but they reluctantly agreed to payment by check. So that ended up resolved to my satisfaction. According to their terms and conditions they give notice before coming out. Well, the first time they came out I was sitting at my computer at 8am and saw a person walking by my window. It was the Top Choice crew. Checking my email, they had sent me an email at 7am notifying me of their arrival at 8. Then on Saturday, October 4th, my husband heard lawn equipment noises at 5pm and believed it to be the neighbors but then saw the Top Choice guys in our back yard. No one contacted us about this visit. My dog attacks weed eaters so it is very important I bring him inside when lawn work is being done. Although we had signed up for bed and shrub maintenance 5 times per year, those months were March, April, June, August, and September. I had told them we wouldn't need maintenance in September because the flowerbeds and shrub trimming were just done in August. So I don't know why they came out in October, not a scheduled month anyway. Then 5pm on a Saturday????? That is outside the office hours stated on their website and no one ever mentioned to us that they work on Saturday. We will not be doing business with them in the future.

Response from Top Choice Lawn Care
"As a business owner, occasionally you make a mistake. Unfortunately, we failed to notify this customer upon returning to complete her requested service. She claims she did not request it. We have conversation notes that she didn’t want service in September, but did in October. The great irony of all this, is that we completed the service free for the inconvenience (proactively, before she complained). Both times, she told our crew we did outstanding work – not B, but A work. Yes, she didn’t pay a cent. Finally, while we failed to notify her the second time, the previous encounter was because she failed to check her email the day before. We indeed gave her 24 hours notice, as promised, via email. We changed several policies and methods to adapt to her, and yet she continues to have problems with minor issues. Also, I’m not sure why she continues to apply our office hours to our crew hours. It’s clearly 9am to 4pm to contact our “office staff.” Not sure what the problem is there. This work is constantly evolving. Many customers appreciate us completing work quicker than we had promised and sometimes without 24 hours notice. We had time open up. Would you rather wait for another week when more time opens, or immediately, sometimes without being able to reach you beforehand? We do the best we can to notify everyone – but mistakes happen. We’re still human. We apologized, gave her free service, and unfortunately, some people just can’t be happy with anything."
