Tiles With Style

I purchased a new dishwasher and, when it came time to install, we found that the granite tile edges were too long to pull the old dishwasher out. I called Tiles with Style and spoke to James about the situation and he indicated that it would be an easy job to do and (in fact) he could install the tile and the dishwasher for me instead of having to call my plumber back. I set an appointment. On the morning of the appointment, I received a call from his office saying that James would need to cancel the appointment and could I just send an email picture of the granite that needed to be replaced? I was able to send the pictures and waited to hear back from James. Almost a full week went by and nothing, so I called to follow up. The lady in the office didn?t seem to know what I was talking about and said she would have to find out if they were able to get my granite and she would call back. I received a call later that day saying that they were able to get my granite and she set up an appointment with me for Saturday morning at 10:00am. At 11:00, one man showed up and inspected my kitchen. He was very nice and knowledgeable about tile, but had no idea about the scope of my job (we had to call James on his mobile phone to discuss). He was able to rip the tile off and tried to pull the dishwasher out, but it needed to be unhooked and since ?all he did was lay tile,? he could not unhook the washer. He said if I could get the old washer pulled out and new dishwasher installed, he would come back to install my new granite (which he did not know anything about either). I called to set up a new appointment to install the new granite and was told that someone would come to my house on Wednesday morning at 9:30am. Nobody has come yet and I have placed calls to the office and received voicemail. Left a message and have not heard back yet. I also have called James' mobile phone and left a message as well. It is now almost two weeks from the original appointment and I?d really love to get this project finished. I just need THREE pieces of tile replaced. That's it.

I have had a very good experience with them. They cleaned up the mess when they finished their work. Their estimate was close to the price I paid. They didn't show up on time to do the work.

One day and 1.25 hours later than expected, two laborers showed up and they set 17 tiles. One tile is crooked. They said they would return the next day to set the remaining 4 tiles and grout all the tiles. They never showed up and James is not returning my calls. I guess I will rent a tile saw at Home Depot and finish it myself. It seemed as though James hated to say no and is overcommitted. In any event, I do not believe I can depend on what he says at this point.

He did not show up, but two Hispanics knowing no English did and started in to do the work. I stopped them telling them I did not have an estimate, let alone a contract. As I was calling their office, they left in a hurry taking my pliers with them. (I had been working on the kitchen sink.) I called their office again the next day and again explained the situation. They said James would call to sort this out. James never returned my two calls.

It all went very well. The tile work is beautiful and they did a really good job.

They started the job a little later than planned, but the slate was not available until a later time. In general they did a great job. They came back out and fixed the few things that we didn't like. They were very easy to work with. They now have a show room, but we had already purchased most of the materials.

James came out for the estimate, and was very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. He had some aesthetic suggestions, like angling one side of the tiled area so it wasn't just a rectangle, but instead mirrored the angled entry to the living room. He called back a few days later to see if we had made a decision yet, but wasn't pushy about it. On the day of the work, they arrived at 11 AM and were completely done by 3 PM. They were efficient, clean, and very quick. Originally they said they'd have to come back the next day to do the grout, but they were able to reach all areas of tile, so they could grout on the same day. James went and bought the grout after I chose the color, and they left the unused portion with us. They also got along well with our dogs! I was pleased that they did as much of the "dirty" work (cutting the tile, mixing the grout & cement) outside as they could, even though it was rather chilly temps that day.

James saved my bathroom! My husband's DIY project had stalled. James came in and was able to fix the few tiles that had been set incorrectly, and then quickly finished the job with grout and installed fixtures. He also installed a new threshold where two flooring types (bamboo and tile) were butting up at different heights. All his work is very professional looking, and he had some good suggestions on how to fix things that had gone awry. He was very professional, and very considerate of my pets and baby. He always closed the doors and warned me when he was going to start up his saw.

Great, returned calls promptly, showed up on time and did job as promised.
