The Coolest

After several options, we contacted The Coolest because of neighbor recommendations and some online reviews. Mark (the owner) came to our house to inspect the issue and offered several options for replacement. We liked his professionalism and directness...and he's a cool dude. When we decided to go with a slighter higher efficient system than our current 15 year old AC unit, Mark quickly scheduled an install to fit our schedule. His communication throughout the process was consistently prompt and clear. When James and Avery arrived for the install, they were extremely courteous and professional...and they were also cool dudes. Within that day, they completed the installation and explained some of the new bells and whistles (thermostat, air filter system, maintenance on the outside unit, etc.) So far (after a week), the system seems to work well, and I would recommend The Coolest for anyone's HVAC issues.

Summary: All three people I worked with (including Mark the owner) were honest, friendly, prompt and professional. They did the repair at 1/2 the cost of anyone else I talked to and actually encouraged me to go with the lowest cost option. They fixed the issue the same day and worked with me on the payment. Note: only 3 days after the repair, so far, no issues. The whole story: My compressor went out on my central AC. Luckily we had a couple of portable ACs so we could take a couple of days to shop around. I had three different companies come out. The first failed to mention that my compressor was still under warranty, and tried to get me to replace the whole outside unit (not unreasonable as it was 10 years old, but they lost trust by not mentioning the warranty) for around $4K. They quoted $16-1800 for repair. The second company I talked to tried to get me to sign up to an 8yr contract for a complete replacement system and maintenance contract for $24K. I pressed for a quote on just replacing the compressor and was told about $1650 I decided to take a chance on the Coolest even through they only had 9 reviews, because the reviews were good and I liked the name. I made an appointment for 9AM Monday morning. They came right on time. The first tech confirmed the issue and checked on the warranty. I asked for a quote for just the compressor replacement and for a replacement outside unit. Mark, the owner I believe, called me back a few minutes later and actually recommended the cheaper option of repairing the compressor. Since his quote was only $850, it made financial sense to go with repair over replace. I told Mark that I wouldn't be able to pay for a couple of days and he didn't even skip a beat before saying that was no problem. He had a tech out within a few hours and got me fixed up before 4PM the same day. I expect my system may still need to be replaced in a few years when some other part wears out, and when it does, I will go back the Coolest for the replacement - they earned my business.

I originally used The Coolest to replace our downstairs unit, and they did an incredible job. When they came around to service both the new unit (roughly 6 months old) as well as our older unit (23 years old), we found out the old unit was on its last legs and after some discussions with The Coolest team we decided to replace that unit (they weren't pushy and gave great guidance for us to make the decision). Needless to say the experience was even better than the first time and the work performed was nothing short of excellent. I'm a stickler for neat work and these guys blew it out the water without me saying a thing! Moreover, you simply can't beat the price. These guys are the real deal and will be my go to always! Can't recommend them enough!

It was a hot blistering July day when our AC decided to die last week. The Coolest was the 3rd company we interviewed. Mark Legare, Owner/Operator, responded to our call promptly, had his technicians out the same day and they diagnosed the issues with and scotch taped our old system together so we could be cool through the night. He met with us and presented as honest and straight talking. We signed up for a Bryant Evolution Extreme and installation started at 8AM the next morning. Mark was present on day of installation to go over the work with his team and then he returned after installation to inspect the work and to teach us how to use the new thermostat. He is filing the paperwork for us to help optimize our Austin Energy rebates. It is obvious Mark is doing all he can to grow his company and to provide service that is outstanding. His team is made up of very personable and highly skilled technicians. I would recommend anyone to give Mark a call and give him the opportunity to provide you with HVAC services.

This company should absolutely be your HVAC provider. HONEST! Reasonably priced. Friendly. And Mark, the owner and our technician today, saved us a fortune. A Strand Brothers tech came out yesterday and told us our AC was leaking, maybe beyond repair, lacking coolant, and telling us that any repair, if possible, would be $800. A Strand Brothers salesperson came by that afternoon to sell us a new HVAC combo for $10,000. My husband and I wanted a second opinion. I called Mark yesterday on Friday around 3:00 and he said he would be there Saturday at 10:00 the next morning to see what he could do. Wonderful on such short notice! Mark showed up early took a look at the system. He turned the AC breaker back on, furnace switch back on, and reconnected the electrical leads on the compressor. (Why would Strand Brothers completely disconnect our system without permission and walk away telling us it was shot). Mark got our unit going in 10-15 minutes. Flushed the drain line for us and was finished. $144 versus $10,000. You be the judge! We know our unit is old, 16 years, and when it does come time to replace I won't go any further than The Coolest. Honest, honest, honest. Need I say more.....

Based on an inquiry I made to Angie’s list, The Coolest! Heating and Air Conditioning Service was highly recommended to me. Mark, the owner, contacted me immediately and came out the same day. He diagnosed the problem with my 10-year-old unit and proposed a cost-effective solution that will extend the life of my AC system for several years. He scheduled a time for the work to be done, and his team arrived on schedule, began working immediately, and did not stop until the job was complete. Because of outside temperature swings during the past few weeks, I have been able to use both heating and cooling, and my system has been working very efficiently since the work was done. I feel confident that it will continue to do so for a long time to come. Both Mark and his team are courteous and professional, and I highly recommend them to provide superior service for you!

Issue: Our HVAC unit, originally installed when the house was built in the early 90's, for the downstairs portion of our home not only had a leak but more importantly was continually running 24hrs a day to keep our living area cool. For example, if we set it to 72 degrees it would run all day with little effect and our living space would remain at around 78 degrees which is brutal. Unfortunately, owing to the issues and the age of the unit, the only thing it did well was keep our electric bill extremely high each month. The solution: We called Mark (Owner) out and after his assessment he provided us with an honest and detailed assessment of the issues and what our options are. After some thought we decided to take Mark's recommendation and replace the unit with a highly efficient unit that came with an awesome Wifi enabled touch screen controller. His team arrived the same week and worked all day/night to get it installed. Within an hour of it been installed our house went from 79 degrees down to 72 without using much energy at all. We have since setup a schedule to suit our preferences and when looking at the energy usage on the controller its almost nothing and our bill has dropped significantly. And, most importantly, our house feels amazing. Now we are looking to replace our second HVAC unit to match this one. Moreover, Mark came out several times to walk us through everything, ensure we were totally satisfied, the work was up to his personal standards, etc. In summary, you are not going to find a better team to work with. Fantastic price, exceptional service, communication, work, etc. There are very few companies that operate with this level of professionalism and we are so thankful we found The Coolest business in Austin for all our HVAC needs. Cannot recommend these guys enough!!
