Provider tested our home and found mold spores in an outside wall where the patio roof had been leaking.  We performed the necessary repairs.  He came back out and re-tested and gave us a clean bill of health.

There was a slow leak in the laundry room from the cold water spigot for the washing machine that went unnoticed for several months and led to some mold along the baseboard of less than 5 feet. Mr. Yates collected a fee of nearly $1,500 and created a significant amount of unnecessary damage to the property during his inspection by drilling holes in most of the interior walls and pulling back carpet and baseboards in almost every room of the home. Mr. Yates recommended a protocol for a scope of work to be performed that is entirely unnecessary based on the small amount of mold found and the results of a mold test that was performed outside of the manufacturer's specifications with unknown negative controls and no outdoor reference level provided for the one area of the home in which he states there are elevated levels present.  His protocol details the need for remediation in all areas of the house where sample levels were found to be "typical background levels" per the mold testing report. The estimate for the repair work totals $23,663.14, not including additional costs that would be incurred for repairing any damage caused to ceilings, crown molding, window skirts, cabinetry, etc. that may be occur during remediation/repair. Mr. Yates was contacted by our representative, who holds a master's degree in Cell & Molecular Biology, to discuss the discrepancies in his report. Mr. Yates made an appointment to discuss the report after he'd "had time to refresh his memory", and failed to honor that appointment. He has avoided all attempts to contact him since.

He was late to the appointment by at least 30 min. He listened well to our water leak history. He gave his thoughts on how likely mold growth was for each leak, if it couldn't be detected visually or without tearing something out to get a visual. He described how remediation would go if we had mold. He said he'd have our air test results within 24-48 hours and he'd send us, via email, the protocol for fixing any problems. It took a week to get a response from him and that was after sending an email and leaving two phone messages. He finally emailed the air sample test results (with little explanation of what they meant) and promised to have the full protocol report emailed that same evening. I got the report the next afternoon.

We were very happy we had called Dan for an initial consultation.  Dan examined the area we were concerned about and provided us advice. We hired Dan that day to provide us a protocol for handling remediation work and the report produced was professional. To carry out the hands-on remediation work, Dan recommended several different companies that he had experience with and in addition gave us tips on questions to ask as we evaluated the companies we considered.  Dan was available for questions via phone or email during the entire process through testing.   Punctuality is only marked B to be accurate on Angie's List.  Though Dan arrived later than planned for the appointment, he called ahead to let us know and we were happy in the first place that he squeezed us into his busy day.  It made no difference to us.  The quality of Dan's work and his communication was great.

Wow!  I called Dan at 3:00PM because mold was spotted by a tenant on the mechanical unit in a rental home.  Dan arrived four hours later to inspect.  That is what I call fast service.  He reworked his schedule because my tenant was panicking.  The inspection went smoothly.  He spoke to me and the tenant very professionally.  The results arrived the next day.  He called me on the telephone to explain them and also emailed a report to me the next day.  I can't ask for more.

TEXAS MOLD CONSULTANTS was great. The guy that came to the house, who is the owner, was really thorough. He took pictures and took the time to explain what was going on and how we can fix it. He helped me figure out how to get mold mediators to fix the problem. He also helped me seal off an area of mold for no extra charge.

Dan arrived on time but was unable to get into the crawl space. . He did provide some commonsense information but our problem was not solved. Dan promised to email us some resources and to review potential solutions for us via email but we did not hear from him.

We had a mold issue in our house following a botched plumbing job. The plumber's insurance company was involved and things were not going smoothly (i.e. they did not want to acknowledge that there was mold in the house and treat it accordingly). I called Dan Yates in for a consultation and quickly prepared a detailed written report with photographs to assist me in getting the insurance folks to do what was right. Dan worked very quickly and was really able to help answer a lot of questions I had along the way about the entire mold remediation process, and really provided a lot of great advice. In the end, Dan wrote the mold remediation protocol for our property that was implemented by a 3rd party licensed mold remediator, and once the work was completed he performed air sampling. Our family experienced a difficult situation with our plumber, his insurance, and the mold in our house, and no doubt things would have turned out worse if I hadn't got Dan Yates involved to help us. There were some times I felt like he was the only one on OUR side. If you experience a water related loss, it is definitely worth it to have Dan come out and do a mold consultation. In our case, the insurance guys were trying to get a way with hiring a "water extraction" type company to get out cheap, when in fact we needed a licensed mold remediator. When Dan got involved, things started happening, and quickly. Dan really saved us from having our house put back together improperly, without the proper mold remediation that was necessary in our specific case.

Dan knows his stuff, is pleasant and professional, and went out of his way to help--he even sat in my car with me while I turned on the AC to see if he could figure out what the smell was, since I suspected mold.

He provided an excellent contact for mold remediation. Dan's knowledge, experience and credentials are excellent. In a stressful situation, it was reassuring to know that we had an ethical expert to help us deal with this in such a timely manner. Is there a rating higher than "excellent" to give Dan?

I started a bathroom renovation project only to find water damage and mold at the base of the vanity and inside the first hole I made in the wall. I Google'd 'mold' and Texas Mold Consultants was the first hit. On this same Saturday afternoon Dan was at my house within 2 hours with his equipment. Not only did he assist me by using his high tech tools to detect the presence of water damage, he stayed well into the night (until about 11PM) and helped me tear out the walls from floor to ceiling as well as tearing out some flooring to figure out just the extent of the damage. He loaned me an air scrubber and a plastic zipper door "indefinitely" until the problem was cleaned up and corrected and help me install both. In the following days Dan has been available for any addition questions concerning my homeowners claim for the damages, recommending remediation companies and just giving me advice in general on dealing with the situation. I wish there was a higher rating than an A I could give him for his knowledge, expertise and services because it has definitely been a pleasurable experience dealing with an unpleasant situation.
