We contacted Steve after reading reviews of his work on Angie's. We'd spent months searching - no one would do our penny floor. We hoped his vast experience and sophisticated style meant he'd sign on, and he did! With his suggestions on how to find a penny jig and make the actual mesh tiles, we went to work with all our pennies: 8,484 to be exact. After the pennies were glued onto the mesh squares, Steve worked our little floor into his busy schedule. He worked off and on for about 5 days to complete the project for a very reasonable rate. The floor is awesome!!

Fantastic! His attention to detail is superb, spoke to me about options in regard to installation, design, lay outs, and was very fairly priced for the quality of the work.

The work completed was beyond my wildest dreams. I now have the Master Bath Spa room I wanted. Steve will be back in my house again when I am ready for more work.

I am extremely pleased with the outcome! Before starting the job, Steven took the time to explain to me how he would approach it so I would be comfortable with the finished product. His attention to detail is outstanding - the type of tile I purchased was a little tricky to install on corners, but he took extra time to do the job right. He was professional and showed up on time. The cost of his service is very reasonable. I would highly recommend him!

The backsplash is perfect. Every grout joint is even and tight; no tiles sticking out. He even curved the tile around some funky pieces of wood sticking out from my cabinets - very hard to do. He laid out the tile and gave me some options and recommendations before he started and let me choose. His work is flawless and I am so, so pleased.

5 stars. Absolutely outstanding work and I would recommend him without hesitation. Much different than most of his people in his craft that we interviewed. He is busy and you will have to be patient for his service, but it is totally worth it. He is not a tile setter, but an artist.

Steve's estimate was very reasonable, I liked his personal approach, and the photos on his website were great. I had him do the work, and I am blown away by his professionalism and craftsmanship. The backsplash is absolutely gorgeous! Steve is meticulous in his attention to detail, including a very artistic eye for design and balance. Steve is a dream to work with, and the end result far exceeded my vision. He is amazing and I can't wait to have him come back and do my bathroom (when I survive the rest of the kitchen).

I first hired Steve for a kitchen counter in a rental property. He had just moved to Austin from Seattle and I found him through another list site. He was available for a quote immediately and came out the next day. I can say his price wasn't the cheapest I was quoted but I am glad I hired him. His knowledge and skill in tile setting is rare in Austin. Unlike Texas, the state of Washington requires tile setters to be licensed and because he was previously licensed you can be sure he is more knowledgable than most tile guys in town. I used to rehab rental properties for a friend of mine and have worked with a lot of tradesmen in the Austin area and have net met anyone who is as professional or skilled as Steve. He is honest, timely and dependable and if you have ever hired contractors you know it is hard to find these qualities.

He is currently working on his third job with me. He also did the countertops in my kitchen just over a year ago but we had a flood and are now doing a complete remodel. He laid the floor in the kitchen and is currently finishing the backsplash. Once again, he is doing a fantastic job and is as dependable as ever. I would not hesitate to hire him again. We want to redo the bathroom next and hopefully he will be available to do it. If you are looking for the cheapest quote in town, trust me you will get what you pay for. He is a skilled craftsman and deserves to be paid as such. His rate very competitive but he should charge more, he is worth it. If you decide to call him I guarantee you will not be dissatisfied with his work. I don't have any pictures of the current work but will come back and post them later. I do have a link to his site where my old kitchen is featured in one of the galleries.

At a future date I hope to expand on the text I'm writing here, and also show some photos of the excellent work done by Steve. For now, suffice it to say that Steve helped rescue us from a nightmare situation involving prior work that was improperly done by others. Before hiring Steve, I visited his two most recent residential tile installations. I brought my digital Stabila level with me to those visits, and it helped illuminate that Steve has the skill and the patience and the self discipline to plan ahead and follow correct procedures. Steve is from Seattle, and his cell phone (as of this writing) still has a 206 area code. Don't worry though: he really does live in Austin now. We are extremely happy with Steve's tile installation. His prior experience in working with large format european tile was a tremendous asset: he knew immediately what to do. Steve was also very pleasant to work with. I would rate Steve as a very honest, high integrity individual with strong skills and who deeply cares about doing a proper job. Believe me, when you find such a person, especially after experiencing others who pretend to be that but who turn out to be the exact opposite, you develop a profound sense of gratitude. Thus, in Steve's case, I'm happy to "Pay it Forward": if you are a home owner who is planning an ultra-modern remodel, and you need a tiler with the "right stuff" to do it justice, I invite you to our house so that you can judge for yourself Steve's fine work.
