 + -1 moreObviously I do not have a good overall rating for Singer NW Sewing Center for all the reasons stated previously. In my opinion they failed in workmanship, costs, and customer relations. In my opinion, they knew the circumstances and the need I found myself in... and they could have worked with me in lending me or even renting me a sewing machine while they awaited the part which supposedly was on back order. If they would have proposed that gesture of good will to me, they would have created a good customer relationship and gained not only my business but many others that I would have told. Apparently they do not care whether they gain new business nor receive the kind of rating they have received from me... whether on "Angie's List" and be word of mouth... by doing business like this.
Description of Work: My Singer machine was brought in to Singer NW Sewing Center, for a general maintenance tune-up, which was performed and returned to me in two days. However within one week of the tune-up, the motor belt broke and back I to the Sewing Center I went. I was told they did not have the part and that it needed to be ordered. I agreed and asked how long it would take... they said, I would have my machine in a week. I explained to them that I was in the middle of sewing my wedding dress and that I needed my machine as soon as they could get it repaired. They said they would try their best. I received a call from the store a couple of hours later asking me if I was attached to my sewing machine, because the repair would be very expensive (approx $200) and that they could sell me another machine for that price. I told them I wanted my machine fixed and that I DID NOT want another machine. A week later, I called to check on the status of the repair, and was told that the part had not come in yet but that they expected it would be in the following week. I could then have the my sewing machine back by the end of that week. I called again at the end of the following week, since they never called me, to find out if my machine was ready yet. To my shock I was told that they had not received the part yet. Furthermore if they had received it, they had no idea where it was since they were doing a Quilt Show that weekend and everything was pretty chaotic at the store. Being quite upset at the news, I started searching for another Singer repair facility on "Angie's List". I found one right away who had the part in stock. I picked up my machine from the Singer NW Sewing Center and immediately went to the other facility... AUSTIN Sewing Center. They repaired the machine that afternoon... charged me a minimal Labor charge of $40 plus $12 for the new belt. He also adjusted my Zig Zag stitching which was not working properly... by the way.... that should have been checked when the tune-up was done about than three weeks before. Needless to say I will never take any of my sewing machines there. They have lost all credibility with me as far as I am concerned.

 + -1 moreI took my Singer sewing machine in b/c I thought it needed repair. I asked them not to do any work until I received an estimate. When I arrived to pick up, they told me nothing was wrong with my machine (apparently my son had flipped a switch somewhere and all they did was flip it back) but they recommended a tune-up at a cost of $50. I told them that I really don't use the machine very often and I would prefer to wait until the tune-up was absolutely necessary. They charged me $20 for the estimate and "work" done on the machine (literally, the flip of a switch), I thought this was dishonest, as they should have mentioned that their estimates are not free upfront. Also I don't think the price was a fair price at all for the simple work they did. I won't be going back.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate and flipped a button on my machine.
