"Thank you [Member Name Removed] so much for giving me and my team a feedback . We are here for any type of masonry work you need for the future . Thanks again and have a wonderful summer Senon"
On the mailbox, I wanted my address embedded in the State of Texas map. Senon went to Buda and had one especially made.
I would love to post some pictures, but I can't figure out how to do it.
Although I have dated the service beginning in January 2016, I first contacted Senon back last September. Our existing, 30-year-old brick wall was starting to crumble and was too tall, enabling rain water to sometimes seep into the house. We worked with Senon the rest of 2015 to establish the correct type of stone to use. Senon listened carefully to our vision for the type of stone we were wanting and pointed us to stone masonries and structures in the area that showed how that stone would look. In a few instances he personally brought some samples for us to match against our house brick.
Once we were satisfied with the choice of stone and the holidays had passed, Senon and his crew started work in early January. Work proceeded on a pretty consistent schedule - progress was visible almost every day. Hard right angles in the previous wall at the front of the house were replaced with wider, curvy lines. The wall there was lowered to ensure that water would never again seep into the house. Whereas a gutter outlet was earlier routed above the old wall, this outlet was now hidden, discretely routed under the new wall. The new light-colored stone walls were topped with a beautiful white capstone.
Our house is perched on a small hill, so Senon chose a tiered design where the dual-tiers' width mirrored that of the front of the house. These tiers impressively stand out from the hill and have generated numerous compliments from the neighbors - we look forward to planting an assortment of rosemary and lantana in them this Spring (plants that the deer don't eat !).
It was a pleasure working with Senon and his crew, who were always responsive and constructed these walls in a very timely manner. The designs were completed in about 3 weeks. As an added bonus, Senon offered to, gratis, replace a no-longer-used front doorbell button assembly in our entry way with a couple of spare, matching bricks that we had. The same care in building the retaining and tiered walls was used to apply these bricks, beautifying that wall. We would definitely recommend Senon's to anyone considering retaining and tiered wall work of this nature.
.
I would definitely use Senon's Masonry again.
"Thank you guys , for letting us work on our project"
Initially we were told by the Senon that they would not be able to begin the work for two weeks. We were delighted when they told us they were ready to begin immediately. The crew finished the work in one day. They dug a deep footing for the wall, inserted "weep holes" and completed the work neatly. They hauled off the toxic debris and left the site clean and free loose dirt. They repacked soil on the garden side of the wall. Everything was efficiently and artistically completed.
Senon, the owner, is pleasant, straight forward and easy to work with. We would highly recommend him.
We highly recommend Senon Masonry to our neighbors.
I had a landscape design drawn up for my property and then had 4 companies come out and bid on the project.
Although Senon's price was not the cheapest, it was very competitive. My bids ranged from $25,000 up to $74,000. I went with Senon because of his workmanship and I felt he would work with me if something came up. As the project began, he had estimated that the project would take about 1 1/2 to 2 months. It ended up taking about 5 1/2 months from intial removal of my existing deck and pond. This didn't bother me too much because we weren't in a hurry to have it completed and workmanship and price were my biggest concerns. There were a few times when I would come home and something wasn't completed as I had wanted so I would call Senon and he would usually respond immdiately with a solution. A number of times he would have his guys demolish a wall or move a flower bed and rebuild it the way I wanted it with no complaints. He had a number of solutions where my landscape design just didn't make sense with what was actually there. I always felt like he wanted the best for my house and treated my backyard addition like it was his own. I had a few add-ons to my project that Senon didn't tell me were add-ons until the final invoice, which was a bit of a suprise. However, he gave me credit for things that weren't completed (extra step, smaller outdoor kitchen island, lights we purchased) and also discounted the extra work he completed to make me happy. He also ended up overlaying leftover flagstone on my front and side porch and installed soil for my new flower beds for free!
Overall we are very happy with our new addition and Senon will give you a good price with great workmanship to back it up. He will work with any problems that come up and won't try to drive up the price like other landscaping companies will. We will have him back on our property when we renovate our front and side yard. Thanks Senon's Masonry!
"I am Senon Castelan, owner and operator of Senon's Masonry. We specialize in custom stone work in the Austin, Texas area. As many local Austin companies, we are a small (masonry) company and we do our best to go above and beyond to make a project; whether it be a simple flower bed or a massive backyard renovation; more appealing and more magnificent than the home owner could have ever imagined. This is our ultimate goal. I, as a leader of my company and crew, take every project very seriously. Approach them as if I was doing the work on my own property; I would not accept just anything done on my property, I want the best! I operate as such with my clients, there is no other way to work in my opinion. When I received this review from the customer I was a bit taken back. Being a small business, I do run into incidences were I will fall ill; I never will delay for having "allergies", but yes we all do fall ill from time to time. I also did (as stated briefly above in clients comment) had an issue with my elderly father. I told my personal issue to the customer in confidence so they would know and possibly understand how pressing the matter was for me. I would have appreciated this bit of information to have stayed private, however, as we are now all involved with living through social networking (such as Angie's List) some must feel to let every flaw in a professional be brought to light. I must own up to the delay, I took to care for my father; that is easy enough for me and I hope people will understand why this delay took place. Another point was brought up about me not responding in ample time; I went back through my recoreded emails and researched this claim. I was in constant contact with the Customers' asking for more communication on scheduling, materials, their ideas, etc. I understand that each and every one of my clients has a life outside of their masonry project going on, so I am patient and not pushy. I am trying to make the area the clients dream, thier input in the planning phase is critical. If we are not on the same page during the planning process, re-do's will happen. I did not add to the projected cost to re-do this, as many companies will. In reviewing the emails, many of the "delays" were weather related. Weather will delay an outdoor project more times than any conctruction contractor would care to admit. Weather delays not only throw off one individuals time line, this set back will throw a conctractors entire schedule off. Stone quarries, suffer from weather as well, in which will delay our products delivery. Angie's List members, please take this into consideration when scheduling with any contractor. I am an honest businessman. I understood the Customers' frustrations in a few of the issues, and yes I attempted to resolve them by offering to do, and re-do, and re-do the work. When I realized there was nothing I could do to make them happy, I aggreed to let them withhold a part of the commited amount. This was the only fair way I felt to handle the situation. My regards and best wishes to you all."
First, I'm always worried about construction companies I'm not familiar with because paying 1/2 up front is scary. Thank you Angie's List members for helping me see that Senon is legit and trustworthy. He came via your recommendations. It was a non-issue.
Second, he communicated well. He called to give updates on the schedule and progress. He asked questions to be sure they cut the stones in the style I wanted. For example, I was keen on having 4 ft lengths. He reviewed his recommendations about how they would cut the lengths to get the best overall look (making each stone a bit shorter rather than having one odd shortie piece). It looks beautiful. They were also careful to get everything square and to cantilever it at the right distance. They cared about their communications and their workmanship.
Finally, they're good at their art. It's hilarious to think that we considered doing this as a DIY project. They spent hours shaping and sanding the stones to my specifications. I thought they came perfect from the quarry. Ha ha. They were meticulous about cutting out the exact hole for the skimmer box so there's no trip hazard. I know this is not the typical job because our style is different, so it's great to see how well he listened to our plans and made them come alive.
And they keep the job site clean.
Loved them.
In the photos you'll see an under-construction look, but you'll get the idea. I'll post new photos after the irrigation and lawn are installed so you can really see the impact of their stone work on the pool area.
"We at Senon's Masonry apologize for the inconvenience we have put you through as a potential client and having to take time out of your busy schedule. This is not the normal way we conduct our meetings with clients. We have tried to contact you in regards to this matter, and have been met back without any response either via telephone or email. We are willing to give a coupon for work to be done in the amount of $300.00. If there is anything we can do to sway your opinion of our company, please feel free to express those ideas to us. Again, we thank you for your initial interest in Senon's Masonry and apologize for not satisfying you to your standards. Thank you and have a good day. Senon Castelan"
Senon and his crew did an outstanding job. Great quality. Very attractive design.
His continual contact and communication throughout the project was very important to me.
Without reservation, I would recommend Senon's Masonry!
So glad I found them through Angie's List because I wanted this project done and had no idea who to hire.
Note: I am getting lots of nice comments from people visiting the house.
