Rocky's Stump Removal Inc

A large Ash tree was cut down, leaving a ground level stump about 15 inches in diameter.  I wanted to plant a red tip in that exact spot this spring.  A highly rated tree service on Angie's list recommended Rocky's Stump Removal as Rocky's  company does stump removal for many tree service companies.  My concern was that my entire yard is hard-scaped, and the area immediately surrounding the stump is covered with paver stones that I didn't want damaged with the stump removal process.  I just didn't see how a machine could fit in the small area without negatively impacting my pavers, causing them to move, break, or drop out of alignment with the rest.  After telling Rocky all this on the phone, he came out the next day for a free estimate, calling 30 minutes before he arrived.  He assessed the situation  and said he could do the job immediately if I was interested.  Based on his informative information of the process I said okay.  He put plywood over the pavers that were near the stump so his machine didn't knock them out of place and not one paver was impacted.  The job took less than 10 minutes, the shields on the machine kept the mulch in a fairly confined area, I was surprised by this.  I easily swept up outlying mulch with a broom in less than 15 minutes and plan to use it for the replanting.  The hole he left was deep enough to plant a large red tip and is the reason the price was higher than would've been had I chosen just to remove the stump.  He is pleasant, professional and fast. I highly recommend him, it was money well spent.

First off I want to say when I called Rocky he said he could come out the next day. Then he did call right before he arrived to let us know he was on his way like he promised. When we discussed the work we told him to grind as deep as he could because we wanted to plant another tree next to where the stump was. He agreed and changed the price he originally quoted us. This was OK because he did the work in record time and did not leave a big mess.

I contacted Rocky through the Angie's list referral. Rocky gave me the date and approx time he would be able to perform the stump removal. He stayed in close touch as he availability grew near. Then he called about 30 minutes before he arrived. Rocky carefully maneuvered his machine in a tight area...doing no damage to anything around. The stumps were gone in about 10 minutes, and Rocky was gone about 10 minutes later. He cleaned up after himself and was gone. Great job, great to work with!

I called, spoke to Rocky, he gave me an estimate over the phone. He could have come the next day, but I selected the day after that. He came on time, confirmed the exact price, and ground up the stumps in about ten minutes. Very pleased.

When I first contacted Rocky I had to leave a message as he was not available. Turns out he was on vacation but he returned my call promptly. Due to some work backup while he was away it was a week or so before he could schedule my job - this was not a problem for me. Day of the job, Rocky came on time and the job was completed quickly and efficiently leaving me with a layer of "mulch" which was easily cleared. He was friendly, polite and professional. We live about 30 miles out of town and Rocky did ask for a slightly higher price than his usual rate to cover the additional travel expense. This is the price you pay for living in the country!

I'm impressed that someone in this town met all expectations.

Rocky did great work. The machine that he has is really impressive and interesting. It took 3 minutes for him to get rid of a big stump, about 24 inches across. (We timed it.) He's also nice and interesting. We scheduled in one day. We will hire him again once we get around to cutting down the weeds that have overgrown a few other stumps in our backyard.
