Wow! I cannot believe how amazing our whole house renovation turned out. Brian is truly a master of his craft with amazing attention to detail. He was very professional and prompt. I was at the project almost every day and witnessed his commitment to getting things done right. He also has a great personality which made the project more enjoyable. He offered up great suggestions and accommodated our requests and explained everything along the way. A true professional! I would recommend him to anyone!

Brian completed the project to the agreed upon specifications and in the agreed upon time frame. We're very happy with his work. He is a very capable, fast and experienced Handyman. The ladder was a bit tricky and didn't workout right on the first attempt but he redid it perfectly without any fuss. A sign of professionalism that I appreciated.

Brian was incredibly hard working and trust worthy of my project. I would without a doubt hire him again. It's very tough to find good contractors and Brian is just outstanding. He renovated my entire condo, down to the studs. You can find before and after photos of his work on my IG: @meaganyednock

Brian Renslow is a perfectionist with vision and attention to detail. The planning and craftsmanship that Brian puts into every job is more than just his “job”, it’s his pride and passion. If want someone to stand back and smile at the project they just completed as if it were their own, then use Brian. A dying breed amongst true Tradesmen, I can’t thank him enough.

Brian did a fantastic job. The work was excellent, completed in an expedient fashion and communication was great. We were informed every step of the way, and Brian went out of his way, every step of the way, to make us part of the decision making process. We couldn’t be happier with the quality and visual appeal of the kitchen and bath remodel he did for us.

Brian was a joy to work with. Highly professional and competent, he provided several excellent ideas that resulted in a result better than I expected.
The existing shower was odd, in that it had 2 doors opening into 2 adjacent bathrooms. The tile was pink, and the shower pan didn't drain properly.
Brian demolished the existing shower out to the studs and down to the sub-floor. He built a new shower pan, closed off the opening into the second bathroom, and re-tiled the shower. Also installed a new toilet and base molding. Fixed a small plumbing leak under the house that he noticed. Finished by painting the entire room.
He made a determined effort to leave as little mess as possible each day, which I greatly appreciated. And at the end of the project, he thoroughly cleaned the entire area.

As usual the Brian's work is perfect, and my new floor is beautiful. What I learned this time is that even when there is a miscommunication. Brian makes things right. Not only is he a skilled craftsman, he is also he good person which in my world is harder and harder to find.

Perfectly -
He always tries to do the best job and has good insight for a design that works best for the project..
Sometimes he is a little late due to taking two children to school but he works a full day.

Brian did some work for me a while back, and I called him again. He came over the day after I called and did a perfect job. He takes care of his previous clients.
I love having Brian do work for me because I can relax in the confidence that it will be done well. He is a straight shooter and will not lie to me or cheat me. He knows when to ask questions about I how I something done and doesn't make the decision himself and stick me with something I may not want. He will not tackle a job unless he knows how to do it. He is a real find and a skilled craftsman who knows how to do almost anything.

He was contracted to build a custom wood fence. It looked so good and was built so well he received offers to bid several different projects that he completed in a professional and timely fashion.

The water damage project went off without a hitch and he did excellent work. You couldn't tell that the wall had been opened, drywalled and repainted.
The garage project started off really nicely. Brian initially quoted me roughly $400 to paint the garage and $640 to install shelving on 2 sides of the garage (approx. 35 linear feet). The scope of the project was going to change as we decided to put shelving on one side of the garage and install cabinets on the other side to make a nice storage/work area. Additionally, we decided to add 2 bottom and 2 top cabinets to the rear wall.
On day 1, we traveled to 2 Home Depots and 1 Lowes to find the right cabinets and shelving for the garage. This took approximately 3 1/2 hours of day #1. In the afternoon, 1 wall (of 3 to be painted) was painted and 4 cabinets were assembled by Brian and his helper. On day #2, Brian was not able to come to the job site in the morning, as he said he was having a problem at a job at the beach and had to deal with that situation. He sent his helper to continue the project.
Initially, Brian was supposed to be the only one working on the project, but said that it would go twice as fast having the extra help .I agreed even though I was paying him $40 per hour and the helper $35. I figured if having the extra person would expedite the job and get it done twice as fast, it would pretty much even out in the end....it didn't.
On day #2, by approximately 9:00, when my husband left for work, wall #2 was 1/2 way painted. I spent the morning running to get the rest of the materials we determined we needed and to return a cabinet that was damaged. I was in and out most of that day. When I inspected the project around 2pm, in addition to the one wall being painted, 1 small cabinet with drawers had been assembled, 1 large cabinet was roughly 1/2 assembled and Brian was finishing patching a crack in the wall. When, I returned home about 5:15 Brian and his helper were just about to leave. They had already cleaned up and closed up the garage, as I'd left him to the opener to close up if they finished before I returned. I asked Brian for a calculation of hours and cost to that point, he told me 8 hours each for Day #1, 8 x $75 = $600, Day #2, 4 x $40 = $160 + 8 x $35 = $280 =$440, for a grand total of $1,040.
To my surprise, when I inspected the garage that evening, only 1 more cabinet had been put together and the patchwork was finished and painted in a matter of 3 hours. What was more shocking that I was being charged for 12 hours (collectively for the 2 workers) and only 1 wall was painted, 1 crack repaired, 1 roughly 4and quot;x6and quot; hole (from and old alarm panel) was patched, and 3 cabinets assembled when the day before in approximately 4 hours 1 wall was painted and 4 cabinets were assembled. So, I called Brian to discuss this with him and to find out what happened that so little was completed in Day #2.
When, I questioned Brian he became very defensive and said it soundedand quot; like I had lost faith in him.and quot; All I wanted to know was what prevented more work from being done. I was paying top dollar to expedite the project and felt like sufficient progress hadn't been made. I was very disappointed when he said to me that heand quot; knew how much I had spent on the cabinets and that it didn't cost nothing to get them assembled and installed.and quot;
Ultimately, my husband had to get involved in the conversation and asked how much the project was going to take to complete. Brian told him 2 days, which would be $640. My husband asked him if he wanted to finish the project for that amount, he said yes and we'd see him in the morning. Less than 5 minutes later, he called and quit the job, leaving us in a real lurch as he was supposed to have made an opening in the garage wall so our electrician could begin installation of a new electrical panel at 8am the next day. He offered a $100 discount on the job, so we ended up paying him $940.
In reality, I could have had Lowe's assemble (the off the shelf cabinets) for a total of $340. It took me and my husband under 30 minutes to arrange the cabinets and hang two wall cabinets. It took 1 person less than 4 hours to assemble and hang 3 wall cabinets and 2 lower cabinets. I think that says it all.

"In my 15+ years in construction, I am happy to say there has never been a client that I could not get along with, or finish a job for. In the worst recession this country has ever seen, after interacting with this individual, I had no other choice but to pull off this job. I think that pretty much sums it up."

If you're looking for an ARTISAN-BUILDER, with every attribute you want in a contractor (honesty, fantastic skill, amazing work ethic, more accurate-than-usual estimates, CREATIVITY, and most of all - he's just a NICE guy), then you want to call this guy because - believe it or not (and I know, it's hard to believe) - he's also extremely reasonably priced. Heck - I told him MYSELF (in the middle of a job, no less) that he should be charging ME more! Think it sounds too good to be true? Well, we met him in September 2009, and hired him immediately for the bathroom remodel. He did such a great job that we did the hall cabinets as well. Well, we couldn't have the beautiful new bathroom lead out onto broken cement, so we asked Brian to replace the deck - one of his SPECIALTIES. When that incredible piece of work was done, we just started lining up projects back to back - the bottom line is that we had the great pleasure of working with Brian steadily until March 2011 - that's right - a year and a half straight - and we sincerely miss him now that we're taking a break from projects. Believe me, we'll ask him back. Before Brian, we used another contractor to remodel another bathroom. THAT GUY was the epitome of what many think of when they are considering construction - he was rude, thought he knew everything, RAPED me on the prices and repeatedly tried to rip me off. He never actually finished the final detail work (I had to get Brian to fix MANY things that the previous guy did wrong, as well). I will be happy to answer any questions (home #: 310-338-9555) and/or provide photos of Brian's work - believe me, we've taken and shared lots of them because we're so proud of the accomplishments Brian has produced for us. The bottom line is that, if you're going to have someone in your HOME who you have to TRUST with your investment, and who you want building for you as if he was building it for his own home, and who is going to tell you the TRUTH no matter if you're going to like it or not, and who is going to CARE about his reputation and whether or not you're going to be pleased with his work, then you'd better call Brian Renslow IMMEDIATELY, because if you don't, I'll probably have already tied him up for another year! (Kidding - he can also successfully work on multiple jobs if necessary!) Sincerely, Gregg Lander

Brain Renslow bailed me out of a mess. I had another contractor install a sliding glass door in my bedroom, and it was done improperly. What ensued belongs on the Jerry Springer Show, and needless to say my confidence in contractors was greatly diminished. That’s when I contacted Brian. He turned a mess into a beautiful job; he removed the door and lowered it to the proper height when he reinstalled it, replaced the mismatched exterior molding with stucco that blended in with the rest of house. No one can tell the door has not always been there, the real sign of a job well done. Brian also did lovely finish carpentry inside the house, installed a doorbell, finished up electrical in the garage, and supervised installation of custom glass work. Brian is honest, reliable, and competent; he comes when he says he will and does what he agrees to. There is no need to watch him like a hawk to be sure he is taking care of business or respecting your space and possessions. He is a real find. My only hesitation in recommending him here is that he is so good that once the word gets out, I may have to stand in line to get him to work for me.
