Beware of shoddy contractors!!!! On 22 May 2012, my wife and I commissioned in good faith, the owner of Redleaf Design & Build to design and build an addition to the master bath room/closet and redo our back patio at 1120 Mossy Oaks Circle Harher Heights, TX. The agreement we both signed states that it would cost an ?estimated? $40,000 to complete the project. With an expectation of the projects total cost to below the estimated amount of $40,000 due to utilizing local certified contractors i.e. carpenters, roofers, plumbers, concrete workers, electricians that were considerably more cost effective than contractors from Austin, TX. This would allow for additional cosmetic improvements in the addition i.e. better lighting, upgrades to sinks, bathtub, flooring and shower etc. We provided you with a check (deposit) to Redleaf Design & Build in the amount of $5000 on 22 May 2012 and agreed to pay once the additional amounts as the project developed. After accepting our check Redleaf Design & Build began to solicited contractors to provide estimates. We requested a detailed breakdown of the estimates of ?all work to be completed?: concrete, carpenter, roofing, plumbing, etc to no avail. Redleaf Design & Build could not design the room to expectations or specifications and could not secure contractors to provide estimates. More than 6 months has passed since we officially canceled the project, due to Redleaf Design & Build failure to provide us with an acceptable design and a detailed breakdown of estimates of work that was to be completed carpenters, roofers, plumbers, concrete workers, electricians. We requested a refund of $3000 by Aug 2012 for lack of services and failure to provide services. After our lawyer contacted Mr. Anderson he agreed to refund $3000 in October 2012. Since then we have sent Registered/Certified letters requesting a refund of the deposit in October and December 2012 to no avail. It is February 2013 and Mr. Anderson fails to reply to phone calls, letters or texts. We have been most patient in this matter and hope that it can be resolved without the additional time and expense of a lawsuit. Do not trust this guy. He has no integrity or scruples.Do not hire this Contractor!
