Precision Heating & Air LLC

I used precision about four years ago and had good experience previously. It seems bought by Fox service. Their service is too pricey to afford from my experience yesterday. I guessed my ac has an evaporator coil leak since my another same model ac had this issue four years ago. It took the technician ~10 minutes to conclude coil leaking and he charged me $359. He quoted $4,349 for replacing the coil. I later got another quote $1,480 from another company. What a rip off!

I called Precision (who is also now Fox through a buyout?) to service my AC. They sent two technicians, one of who was very nice and the other not so. The nice technician said up front that it was too cold to get a good reading off the AC, and I offered to set another date. The not-so-nice technician insisted it could be done by wrapping garbage bags around it. They were already out, and the not-nice one was insistent, so I let them look at the AC unit. The nice technician got to work looking at the units in the attic, and the not-so-nice one started asking questions. During the conversation, I mentioned that I had had trouble over the last couple of years because the refrigerant was low, and they were able to add some, and it worked fine. The not-nice technician immediately started talking about a new unit without any diagnostic effort saying that the cost of a new unit might be cheaper than putting refrigerant in. He said that even if it worked, the hole is likely bigger because they grow over time, so it would likely fail anyway. It felt like we were in a verbal jousting match and ended up with the not-nice technician going down to look at the outside unit. He looked at it briefly and pointedly noted that it was missing a sticker that "goes right here." (It looked like he was just pointing at a random blank spot). He said he would have to start putting the refrigerant in and weighing it out because there was no sticker on the unit. I guess there is no way in today's age to get from a model number to information about the specs of a device. At that point, I was done. I paid their service fee and asked them to leave. The parting words from the not-nice technician were, "We wouldn't put in a unit for you anyway." I still don't know how a garbage bag would help, but there you go.

Our time window was 11-3 and they showed up at 9 AM today. Tech performed the work to fix heating and then asks my wife for payment for $500 when he never communicated what the diagnosis was and how much things would cost. Wife calls me telling me he already did the work and can’t send an itemized bill until after we pay. Horrible experience and I will never use this company again who skips steps in their service calls.

I purchased a new AC unit about 2.5 years ago from Precision Heating and Air. There is a 10 year warranty on just about everything, which made purchasing this through them very appealing. About 4 days ago my AC unit stopped working. I called them on Saturday and they added me to the schedule for Monday. The temperatures over here have been in the 100s, so I found a place to stay during the weekend. I went back home on Monday to wait for them (85 degrees inside). At around 5pm I finally decided to call them, and the first person I talked to hung up on me after I asked for them to explain why I was not told they were not coming (she told me they were not going to have time to come over). The second person I talked to rescheduled me for the following morning. Finally they came to work on my AC. After 5 minutes of looking at what was wrong, I was told the part was included with the warranty but the labor was not included. Then they went on to say the cost of labor is $354. It took them less than 20 minutes to fix it. I am very, very disappointed in the cost. I am waiting for Precision Heating and Air to call me back to explain how this is possible. So, in short, they sell you on their excellent warranty but completely fail to tell you how outrageous the labor costs are going to be.

I never like to complain virtually, and prefer to go through the company to rectify any issues I have felt occurred, and try to give companies a chance. This was the first time and last time we will deal with Precision Heating and Air. Their sales guy (I won't name them) Came to look at the job we were requesting, and quote us two days ago. He said they should not have an issue getting to both bathroom vents, even though one of them we knew was a bit cramped. We had to pay for the entirety of the work prior to service (odd, but I digress). When the technicians showed up, they did not know what job they were there to perform, and my wife had to tell them what they needed to do. They got one of the vents taken care of no problem. When it came to the more cramped one, none of them could get back there, and said they would find a smaller person to take care of it. The salesman calls my wife 2 hours later to tell her they don't have any smaller employees. Yet, when he was onsite in the attic looking at the vent, he thought there would be no issue getting that work done? My wife said we need to get the other half of the job that we paid for refunded, and he tried telling her that refunds are a difficult process, and they have to get with the people they finance through or something, basically trying to take advantage of her. I gave him a call, and at the time did not know he was the one who spoke to her about the refund. When I brought this up, he tried to pin it on one of the technicians claiming they don't understand the process, and he will get with the GM to have them spoken to about this issue. I would not recommend them, purely on the fact that our sales rep was dishonest to me, my wife, and tried to take advantage of a female, and then lie when confronted about it. I am still waiting on a call from his manager, and would love to discuss this issue, because as far as I can tell the work they did was fine and the price was fair.

Customer service is awesome. Very knowledgeable when it come to air and heating products.

We have been customers of Precision since February of 2020. We are on their yearly maintenance plan. Precision has worked on our A/C eleven times in less than two years. As of now, it is not working properly. It has not worked properly for more than a few months since they began working on it. It is not old and was as reliable as any A/C prior to Precision. We’ve paid thousands of dollars to Precision in less than two years. We don’t prefer complaining online. Rather, we prefer to make the vendor understand that we are unhappy and work with them to rectify the problem. We tried that for over a year. They are always prompt, courteous and professional. Our A/C still doesn’t work. The latest episode is proving too much for us to remain quiet. Last week I received their email about our twice-yearly checkup. The A/C was working fine. I scheduled the checkup as recommended. The technician arrived Thursday and completed his checkup, saying that everything looked ok. When he left, the house began to heat up. It did not cool down. The same technician came back Saturday. He told us he had mistakenly let coolant escape when he was checking the pressure. He added more coolant and left. The A/C still doesn’t cool. I called again. The new technician arrived Monday afternoon and said the compressor was frozen. He shut down the whole unit and said someone will call me to schedule a time to come out once more. He could not give me a day. So here we sit, both working from home, with no A/C at all – and this time, it was working perfectly before they touched it. Those are just the facts, with no unqualified opinion whatsoever. If I hear back from them, I’ll update this review.

My experience with them was very positive. They are reliable and it was easy to work with them.

Dan came out to give us an opinion of our existing heating and AC ducts in our attic. After inspecting them, he said they were in great shape. We mentioned to him that we thought we had a leak in the duct that went to our master bathroom because we kept finding a fine, insulation-looking dust in this room only. He found a leak in the duct and placed duct-work tape around the leak. He did this at no charge. I would strongly recommend Precision Heating and Air and will definitely use them for my heating and AC needs in the future. Steve

we bought a new hvac system from precision heating and air a year ago and I really regret giving them any money. the salesmen took advantage of us from the start, they lied to us to force us to pay for an expensive unit saying it was the only option with how our home was set up (we were later told that was untrue by other companies), they tacked other things to the total that werent clearly explained and very hard to read in the salesmans hand writing. our unit has broken twice since then leaving us with no ac in the dead of summer all after spending $20k on a new unit. I have a 1 year old with a 103 fever and they wont come out to check our unit until tomorrow while it is 97 degrees outside. servicemen have all been amazing but the company as a while is aweful.

They lie, manipulate, try to scare you into buying new equipment!

Great from the start. Enjoyed working with the entire team...from the salesman who presented the bid, the team that installed the new system-hard working guys-and the follow-up from the manager to make sure everything was installed properly and working just right. Have had no problems with the new system, we are very pleased with everything. Would definitely recommend and use again.

When our upstairs A/C condenser went out, the sales staff lead by Ryan True did a great job of explaining our options and working with us to meet our needs at a cost we could afford. The installers, Thomas and Benny, did a great job of replacing the broken a/c condenser and additional replaced the old heating unit. They were very professional, courteous, and thorough. Additionally, Precision walked us through the entire City inspection process and did a follow-up QA Inspection before the City of Austin inspection and approval. Everything went very smoothly.

Arrived on time, work completed as expected. And
