"Homeowener was made aware that there is no metal in plaster and therefore no warranty against it occurring. It is a biproduct of pool pool construction. We agreed to repair an issue that was not or fault for $250 with no warranty. It reappeared and the customer asked for their money back! We refunded the entire amount even though they new they were not entitled it. If asked, they will tell you the plaster is fantastic and the reason for not receiving an A has nothing to do with the the original unbelievable quartz finished we produced. The best job at the best price!"
"This home owner did not hire me! His contractor hired us to plaster his pool. I have explained to Mike that plaster doesn't rust! You need metal for corrosion to happen! But he doesn't understand the properties of steel or plaster. He has a glass surface that looks spectacular! Except where rust is leaching through the glass surface. I have reached out to Mike even though again, rust isn't an issue with plaster. Hopefully after he reads this he will change his review. But as I stated earlier, he never hired or paid Paradise Pool Plastering."
"Thanks for setting the record straight when hiring us. We truly appreciate the kind and correct review. All the best!!!"
"Thanks for the great words. All As but price. We try to be the best price and we might have been. Just more than you expected. We are very glad quality was your main concern. Glad we delivered. Thanks. Mark Norris"
My pool was built in August 2001, Grecian Shaped - Light Gray Plaster - Two Water Sheers on back wall of pool.
Pool perimeter is ~130' (counting the beach area pop out)
Last couple of years we noticed it was difficult to keep chemistry stable, algae was very quick to come back and challenging to keep up with. Pool seemed to be losing water more so than usual in the summer season.
Mark spent time with us to discuss options to have pool re-plastered with new tiles. He did NOT UP-SELL the project. He was very open in stating he is frugal himself and what would be needed to make the pool look nice and not spend too much money. I really appreciate this about the interaction.
He sent us to his pool materials store to pick out the tile. We went with standard white plaster, new tile for around the pool and our water fall wall with a different tile. My wife of course chose the upgraded tile which cost more due to glass accents - which added to the price/cost of the project.
His crew came in early - was very CLEAN and did not leave us with a messy yard. Work was done efficiently as ~4-5 people were here working on it (they knew what they were doing). Marked called me a day later and informed me that a hole was found behind my light fixture and I was slowly loosing water. He said during the prep work they filled the hole with high grade cement (believe he said hydraulic cement) to fill and seal up the hole. I mentioned that one of two water falls were leaking - he had his team dig into the wall - repair the leak with special sealant and prepped it for tile work. Both of these repairs were performed for NO EXTRA CHARGE. He said we already had the material on the truck - he did not consider this major structural repair.
The tile guys came out to install the tile. I came home from work - I inspected the tile work and I did not like how the tiles were installed. I took video of my concerns - texted Mark. He called me back and scheduled his tile guys to come back and rework the areas of my concern. No questions or push back. He said he wanted to ensure I was happy and appreciated the quick feedback since there was time to do the rework prior to plastering. As we looked at the progress being made, we looked at the coping around the entrance of the pool and now see it looks weathered compared to the new tile work done. Mark said it will be fine - he will have his team sand it down to get a fresh look on it. He did not see a need to spend an extra $500-$700 to replace it. This was done at no extra charge and looked great after the sanding/cleaning.
Plaster team showed up several days later - the pool looked OUTSTANDING. Bright White - High Grade white plaster. All new fittings inside the pool.
I am very detailed and as you can see - I waited quite some time before processing my feedback. The entire pool season this year was the BEST ever. My chemicals are stable, water bill reduced, pool cooler due to high white plaster color. My family and friends enjoyed the pool this season. The quality and workmanship was OUTSTANDING. Mark and his team are all PROFESSIONAL and look to please customers. The pool looks like a resort pool now. We are extremely pleased with the work performed.
I strongly recommend Paradise Pools Plaster for your pool remodel and re-plastering work. Mark's quote/bid was $1,000 to $2,500 cheaper than my other 3 bids from local known vendors. Mark and his Son run the business - they are great people with solid work ethics and really want his clients to be more than satisfied with the quality and workmanship.
"WOW!!! What a fantastic review. Thanks! Really, I can't say much but our work and work ethic does the talking and [Member name removed] put it in the best words....EVER. Thanks"
We did a lot of research on what kind of resurfacing we wanted to do on our pool and Mark educated us even more so that we got exactly what we anted and now we have a beautiful pool that we will greatly enjoy this summer:-)
We highly recommend Paradise Pools and Spa!!!
They had several different crews specialized for each phase of the work: draining and preparing, removing the old plaster surface, preparing the pool with drilled holes every 8-10 inches, applying the undercoating, and applying the final mini-pebble finish. We also had all of our boarder ceramic tiles replaced as well as brought the main drain up to current safety standards.
We were very happy with the finished product and any minor issues along the way were resolved. I also liked that they did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. The whole project was completed in about two weeks start to finish.
Mark was incredibly helpful every step of the way. He helped my wife and me a great deal in making selections of coping, tile and the finish on the pool. We have twin daughter who are seniors in high school, and my wife asked him if there would be any possibility to fast track the job so that we would be done in time to host a party for the kids after their Prom. Mark went out of his way to accelerate the start date on our project. Paradise began the job later that same week, so that our pool would be ready before Prom. Ten days later we had a beautiful new pool ready for swimming.
All of the guys on Mark's team are employees of his company. That is very unusual. All of the guys were courteous, polite, and most of all they were craftsmen. Remodeling a pool is not something we had been through before, so we were apprehensive about the project and the choices we had to make at first, but in the end we feel that quality of the job and the value we received is outstanding. We could not be happier with our decision to contract with Paradise Pool Plastering and we love our newly remodeled pool.
We found Mark to be quite attentive to detail and a hands-on manager of his crew. Paradise Pool Plastering’s professionalism, yet friendly outlook, made the service go smoothly and we can recommend them with confidence.
Mark Norris came out on Feb 13 and gave us a free estimate (Nice guy to do business with). We got three bids and his was the middle bid but the one with the best references. His people showed up on time, did the work quickly and efficiently, starting with the pump-out on Sunday (We flooded our yard and our neighbor's yard over the next 7 hours so we wouldn't waste 28K gallons of water) and they finished plastering on Wed. pm. It was amazing to watch the proficiency of his 2 crews. Mark checked on them everyday and talked with us everyday to make sure things were going as expected.
They also replaced some small loose tiles and replaced several loose patio stones on the pool deck. They also installed a handrail at no extra charge, which we had purchased directly from Mark's supplier.
The job couldn't have gone better. He recommended Pool Doc to do the start-up, getting the water up to pristine condition, which we did. Chad did an excellent job also and we are really happy with the complete job. Thanks Mark and Paradise for a GREAT job.
They worked two Sundays in a row.
The only reason I gave a B grade regarding responsiveness, is probably due to the fact that this is the busiest time of the year for pool re modeling and they were completely slammed. We had a quick scare when it rained for two days, Marks phone would not take calls for a few hours and I panicked, thinking he must have either killed over from over working or had taken the money and headed out of town! He called later that day and all was good.
The pool is filling today and we could not be more pleased.
Mark, his son and all of his crews are highly recommended by us!
*Out of the entire home and pool remodel... Mark and his guys were the easiest, quickest, most on time and on budget contractors we used!
"This was a big deal for the customer to hire and supervise a major remodel. She was fantastic to work for. A true ,quality Angie's list customer. Thanks for the work Donna!"
We called three different companies for quotes. All three came out quickly and gave us quotes on the spot. Mark was the only one to mention that we had a single drain and recommended a dual drain. For the extra money, we thought this was a good idea, especially since we were getting ready to sell our house and one of the questions on the Seller's Disclosure has to do with the pool having a dual drain!
Mark's bid was in the middle of the three but we liked his professionalism and no-BS approach.
After the new year, we got back in touch with him to let him know we were ready to start. We were flexible with the timing as we had nothing pressing, so he got started on Jan 14. He came out, set up the pump to remove the water from the pool and the crew showed up the next morning to start demolition.
It took two days for the crew to remove the old plaster and chip out around the various fixtures (light, inlets, drain). We weren't replacing the tile, so they had to chip more deeply an area about 8and quot; wide beneath the tile to ensure a smooth transition to the tile. Despite temperatures in the 30's, the crew worked their tails off.
After preparing the surface, they put on some sort of brownish undercoat, then left that to set for several days, returning on Monday the following week to plaster.
The result is a beautiful new surface to the pool, chemicals perfectly balanced and a new main drain. The water loss I had seen before the work was done has been completely eliminated.
I've called Mark several times with follow-up questions and he's always responded very quickly. He's given me a lot of good information on my and quot;newand quot; pool and I hope the next owners will appreciate the job Mark did as much as I do!
"The customer is the consummate professional and I am pleased I could deliver a great product and service to a gentleman of such high standards. Thanks!,"
