"Firstly, I’m sorry to hear of your experience. I would like to make readers aware of our side of the story. We stand behind our products 100% and went to every effort to help with this, even though the contract you had was with your fabricator, not with us. We are a granite wholesaler, and we assist members of the public with their stone selections, but we do not sell direct to customers. In our industry, fabricators are responsible for educating the homeowner regarding the nature of natural stone and the potential for naturally occurring flaws. We cannot attest to the treatment, resin or waxes that were used in the fabrication process, nor whether the granite in your kitchen was the same granite that the fabricator purchased from us. We always recommend that granite be sealed before use, but this is up to the fabricator as it isn’t a service we can offer. When you contacted us, we visited your house to inspect the granite and advised you that in our opinion it appeared not to have been sealed, a process we would always recommend. We took samples of granite from the same container and had them tested to ensure that it was not dyed, nor was it fake. It was top-quality Absolute Black granite from Tab India’s quarry. The quarry in India ran tests for us, and we also took advice from the Marble Institute of America and an independent expert, Dr Fred Hueston PhD, who both confirmed that black granite contains varying levels of naturally occurring calcium carbonate, which by no means compromises the integrity of the slab or implies an inferior quality. We always aim to supply premium quality slabs and we carried out these tests and assessments to ensure that our high quality standards had not been compromised. In our discussions with the quarry, they suggested a product called Tewax which can help with calcium carbonate markings. We purchased this for you and offered that you or your fabricator could apply this, since we are not trained in fabrication techniques, we are a wholesaler so cannot offer this service ourselves. We made every effort to help you even though the responsibility for this lies with the fabricator once the stone leaves our showroom. Our company owner appeared on Fox news to talk about this as we have nothing to hide and did nothing wrong. Our products are not “fake” and the fact that we tried everything in our power to help you reflects our commitment to customer service and our integrity as a company."
