I know that reviews on Yelp may be taken with a grain of salt, so it is therefore my intent to stick with the facts on this - nothing more, nothing less. I am a teacher, and this is my very first home. I have been working toward buying a home my whole life. I may not make as much as one could, as a teacher, but I worked hard to get here. About two weeks ago, part of my immediate improvements to the house was to replace the refrigerator with a new one. I had already purchased through Neu Appliances previously when I bought a washer/dryer combination, and the transaction went just fine. Between that purchase and the refrigerator, I had given Neu Appliances about $1,800. Not a huge amount, but nothing insignificant to me. When the two installers came out to install the refrigerator, they did not say anything about the water valve in the back of my refrigerator having any issues. They did not let me know about any leak that I should be aware of. In fact, they left the water valve turned on, so that the water could come to the refrigerator through the line and flood stop hose. It was right around this time, for the next few days, that not only did I immediately notice that the refrigerator was not dispensing water, but it was also not dispensing ice. Not only that, but my laminate floors began to show signs of buckling. The buckling continued to worsen over the next few days. I could not figure out why. Neu Appliances did send out two technicians (people from their staff) again to check it out. When they did, they demonstrated the water hose to me in the kitchen sink, and informed me that I had no water coming from the valve or wall behind my refrigerator. I thought this was very strange - considering this did not come up in my inspection report, nor had I shut off the main water switch/valve in the garage. When they left, they basically had the attitude of "Sorry lady, you have no water coming out of your wall." That's fine - I get it, they are not plumbers. I understand that. However, I asked them to go ahead and turn off the valve, and they left it open. Meanwhile, my floors continued to get worse. You could feel the laminate now being moist to the touch on several boards. The buckling got worse. I made an appointment with an A/C company to check for a leak there as quickly as I could. We were able to determine that at least the leak was not coming from the A/C, which is always a relief. I called a plumber next, to investigate the kitchen sink and refrigerator for leaks. I was becoming very stressed and desperate to find out what was causing my floor to slowly be ruined. We then discovered it. Not only did Neu Appliances leave my valve open behind the refrigerator, when I asked them not to, but there was a leak there. So - not only was there water coming out of the line, (and they told me that there was NOT water coming out of the line/wall), but this steady leak was what caused my floors to be completely water damaged. Additionally, Scott, the owner, informed me that their hose was what I needed to buy to go along with the refrigerator. This water line hose is specifically meant to stop leaks - it did not. In fact, the hose was not only too large, but it was leaking as well, causing moisture all along the bottom of the kitchen floor under the refrigerator and right outside my kitchen walls, under the floor. When I asked Neu Appliances to take some responsibility for this, they refused. They said that "plumbing is not their problem." I explained to them multiple times that we were not blaming them for the plumbing or a faulty valve. When a company comes out to install an appliance and they even TOUCH any kind of plumbing, it is their responsibility to check for leaks or faulty plumbing and at least tell the customer. They did not do any of this. In fact, they did the opposite: They misinformed me of a leak that I could have prevented or fixed much sooner. They strong-armed me into buying the wrong hose for the appliance, and they refused to offer me a refund or even meet me halfway. At one point, Scott even laughed at me on the phone. I have filed a claim with my home insurance company, since my floor is now ruined. We are going into subrogation. I do not wish to tell anyone what to do, but this company has no integrity. It is a small, local company with used appliances. Simple as that. Be cautious. That is all I can say. Perhaps they will understand that if they had just worked with me, they would not be facing legal action now for negligence.
