Although Dr. Nairn, her partner at Century Animal Hospital, is my primary veterinarian, Dr. Van Brunt has cared for my three dogs whenever Dr. Nairn is unavailable. In 2001 my dog, Julie, became ill and Dr. Van Brunt quickly eliminated causes that could be diagnosed without ultrasound. At that time Century used an outside expert for that service (they now do it themselves), and the earliest appointment possible was four days away. Dr. Van Brunt opened the office both weekend days to hydrate my dog during the wait. When the ultrasound results were very bad, I opted for immediately ending Julie's pain. Dr. Van Brunt carried out that sad duty with utmost compassionate treatment of Julie and me.
After that she was sometimes involved in the care of my next two dogs, although I can't remember any specifics before 2012.. Obviously I was pleased with her care of them, as I am certain I would remember anything less than top-level care.
Last year she and Dr. Nairn both cared for my dog, Penny, that was severely injured in an attack. Despite life-threatening damage, the little dog was nursed back to good condition by her doctors. When an unexpected deep abscess developed weeks later, Dr. Van Brunt took very fine care of Penny and even devised an ingenious way to keep dressings on an area that defied conventional bandaging during the days of successful treatment..
In addition to her skill, she is part of what I believe is the best small animal hospital in the Austin area. Marcia N. Van Brunt, DVM, is an excellent, experienced, intelligent, kind doctor. I have recommended her to friends in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
