Lon Smith Roofing

After a major rain storm, I noticed shingles in my yard. Concerned that they might have been from my house, I called Lon Smith, as they had replaced my roof previously, and I was very happy with the work performed then. I had the same inspector as before, Robbie Harless. He climbed up on the roof to check it out, and when he came down, he told me my shingles were intact, but there was major hail damage and the roof was destroyed. I contacted my insurance company and they agreed the roof needed replacing. I worked with Robbie, who gave me an upgrade on my shingles, since the "old" roof had just been put on six years ago. The roofers were very good. They came out on time and completed the roof in one day. (I have a small house and it is two stories, so my roof is not large.) They cleaned up after themselves, although I did find a few nails later. An inspector came out and took care of that for me. I am very pleased so far with the new roof and the look of the upgraded shingles. Once again, Lon Smith Roofing has come through for me.

Robby came out to do the inspection. Before he even climbed up on the roof he was able to see some of the damage. He told me my 19 year old roof looked like it was at least 25 years old. When he climbed up, he was able to determine that the damage and the leaks in my house corresponded to one another and I indeed needed a new roof. Robby's estimate came in higher than my insurance company's, and Lon Smith Roofing accepted the insurance company's estimate for payment. I just had to pay my deductible. The roofers were at my house on time, and, as I have a small, two story house, they completed it in one day. This was five years ago, and I haven't had any problems.

Lon Smith recently replaced our roof and the experience was excellent. Everyone from the salesman to the crew were professional and efficient. I would highly recommend Lon Smith roofing and plan to use them in the future.

Amazing. They were so helpful throughout the project. They helped us select the right product for our project at the right cost and delivered the materials and began within 1 week! It only took two days for removal and installation. And it's beautiful. They replaced rotten wood at no extra cost; they color matched ever pipe and wrapped the chimney with flashing that was twice the width of what they removed. The whole crew was kind and professional. They kept the yard protected and they cleaned everything when finished.

Nothing but professional and excellent JOB! My estimate from the insurance had several mistakes. My salesman, Robbie, was happy to take the contact info and deal directly with the insurance company so I didn't have to. He was able to get it all corrected for me hassle free. Especially since I had no idea the roofing terms, etc. The job was quick and the clean up was more than I expected. Then the inspector also went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect during and after the job was complete! Including switching out paint colors for our vent stacks that he thought would look better than what was sent with the materials. VERY HAPPY! It looks great and was painless!

The new roof doesn't leak and its looks good. That's all I can say on the positive side for Lon Smith Roofing. Herein noted as LSR. . . . Roofing materials were delivered on time by an arrogant (racist?) fork lift driver. The deliverer wanted to place the materials in a place where we did NOT want them placed. When my wife showed the driver where we wanted the materials placed, the (black) driver balked at the lower lying branches of an oak tree and said he could not drive his mini lift under them. My wife told him it was OK, even if we lost a few leaves of tiny branches. At that point the deliverer said he knew how "YOU PEOPLE ARE", and indicated that us white people would complain if he damaged our trees. So wrong he was. I/we did not care one bit about the stupid tree, we were just trying to make it easier for the roofing crew to get their materials from the ground to the roof, and have the deliverer put the materials WHERE WE, THE CUSTOMERS, WANTED THEM PLACED! Three or four of LSR's workmen thanked us for having the materials set down where we wanted them to be set, it was 20' or so closer to where their ladder was. . . . Then there is the price switching. Be VERY AWARE that this company will try to hike the cost of your roof by 20+% or more before they are done installing the roof. My advice is to get a GUARANTEED PRICE from them before you hire them. They tried to bill my insurance company an extra 8-15% for a very small fluctuation in crude oil prices, when in fact the day I ordered the roof AND the three of four days of delivery and installation, crude prices were at their lowest in months, on those days. Yet LSR raised their price by many hundreds of dollars quoting a "rise in crude oil prices" for the exact same product they should have ordered for our home, when I placed the effing order!

From initial contact to final completion of roof installation was excellent!! Information was provided and accurate from beginning to end. Installation crew protected shrubs and swimming pool; provided their own cover. Supervisors answered any and all questions my family had and were helpful in the discussing options. Highly recommend this company!!!

Lon Smith quickly provided an estimate and managed the payment thru USAA. The work for both the roof and gutters was punctual and as scheduled!

I have such mixed feelings about this company. I do feel like they gave me the best price on a roof with hail-resistant shingles, and every time a problem came up they were very fast to deal with the problems without any hassle. But there were just too many problems that came up as a result of shoddy workmanship and a lack of attention to detail. For example, ice and water shield was not extended far enough to cover the new plywood that was put down, caulking was not sufficient so we had leaks, errors in measurements lead to roofers putting old turbines back on a section of roof when all other sections had ridge vents, shingles on the drip edge were broken off, and we are still finding nails on the ground. The job was left uncompleted over the weekend and only picked up the following Tuesday, but we were not kept informed of the delays. On top of that, our salesman told me he had to have two phone numbers on the contract, and I reluctantly gave my husband's phone number but clearly stated that I was the contact person for the job. Of course, who gets called? My husband...every time! We kept asking them to make my number the ONLY one to call, but he kept getting phone calls interrupting his patient visits Was it sexism or laziness? I don't know, but my husband was fed up of the interruptions by the end.

The worker showed up on time and did a excellent job. The workers cleaned around the house and hauled away all roofing materials

Due to another hail storm in our neighborhood my new roof was slightly damaged along with outside shed nrrding completely new roof. Since Lon Smith had replaced my entire roof only months before storm, I called them again to assess damage and do repairs. Response was quick and repairs done quickly. I will always call Lon Smith for all my roof repairs.

Lon Smith Roofing is excellent!  We've used them for years and I have complete faith in them.  Year after year we would call them out to look at our aging roof.  They were always honest enough to tell us that the roof was fine.  The March hailstorm was the last storm and the roof needed to be replaced.  Lon Smith worked seamlessly with our insurance, got the job done quickly, cleanly, and professionally.  The day that materials were dropped off, hail was in the forecast again.  The crew came out and moved some of the materials BY HAND so that we could get cars in the garage.  I was incredibly impressed and very grateful!  I have recommended them numerous times and in fact, my sister just had a new roo put on by Lon Smith Roofing this week.  I give them an A+ rating!

Matt, the salesman, was right on time, listened to my concerns and checked out the roof and the area under the roof.  
The crew came out right away and took care to keep all the existing shingles so I didn't have a section replaced.  They laid a barrier and sealer down replaced the existing shingles and made sure the area didn't look like it was repaired.  They went over all the work they did with me to make sure I was pleased with their work.  Before they left, they asked me to check during a storm to see if there were any leaks from their work.  If so, they would be right out to correct the situation.  So far, no leaks and I am very pleased with their work.  I would recommend them to anyone and have.

Did a complete tear off of shingles, replaced wood decking where necessary, put down a water barrier and then new shingles.  Everyone was very professional, the work was done in one day and it looks great (I didn't climb up on the roof to look).  This is the 4th roof I've put on this house and this will be the last one.

Best experience with a service company in months! From my initial call, that was answered by a "real person", thru the estimation and repair process with an unexpected follow up visit to ensure repairs were properly done. All of the Lon Smith staff were prompt, courteous, friendly and professional. Communications were great and my invoice amount matched the original estimate. We've been thru one strong rain since repairs were done and i didn't detect any dripping overhead. It would be nice if some of the other 'so called' service providers were schooled in the Lon Smith method. Thanks for the breath of fresh air.
