I dealt with Larry directly, he picked up the phone on my first call.  I had a number of questions regarding the appraisal process specific to my situation and Larry was very respectful and polite as well as informative when answering my questions.  Larry did not pressure me into moving forward with the appraisal, he provided all details required and advised me to let him know if we wanted to move forward.  We ultimately moved forward with using Larry's services, he completed the appraisal and returned all documentation to us in less than a week.  The appraisal was thorough and accurate and Larry made himself available for any questions I may have.  I would absolutely use L Ellis Appraisals again in the future and would be happy to refer to anyone seeking a real estate appraiser.

The provider scheduled an appointment for a visual inspection of the premises in a prompt manner. The provider was prompt in responding to all e-mail and telephone communications. When we ran into issues affecting the type of appraisal needed, the Provider was flexible and waited until we resolved our issues to complete the appraisal report. The final report was professional, thorough and provided in a timely manner.

Larry was very pleasant and he knew what the insurance company was asking for.  He also explained that he does a full appraisal, which included the info that they would focus on.  We made an appointment, he showed up on time and went about his business.  He explained what he would be looking at and that the finished report would be received in a couple of days, which it was.  Once I looked at it, I emailed him with a couple of questions which he answered promptly.

Larry answered our call promptly on Monday the 30th June and was here Wednesday 3rd July at 8.30am.
He is professional and quite personable, with a lovely disposition.
He understands the record-keeping of older homes in Nassau County NY, which is good, since our historic home has an inaccurate original construction date on file.
Larry took lots of photos as part of his appraisal process, and asked questions as needed.
He took less than the normal 30 minutes he suggested it would take, yet he was very thorough.
His fee was in keeping with others he has supplied to Angies List customers, as I gleaned from other reviews.
Because of the July 4th long weekend, Larry offered to have our appraisal to us by Saturday the 6th, but since we aren't in a rush on this, we told him to just get it to us next week.
He asked if we would accept a soft-copy of the appraisal emailed to us as a PDF document, and that works wonderfully for us.
For those needing a hard-copy and even once with an embossed seal of his company, Larry can provide that.
We'd highly recommend Larry Ellis to anyone requiring appraisals.

I e-mailed him on a Sunday evening just to try 9:30 the next morning; he called me and said I have a few openings today. In less than 24 hours after contacting, by 4:00 in the afternoon I met him. He he was very professional and explained very clearly how it would be. He had a good observant eye and he was knowledgeable about the area.

I received the completed reports in 3 business days.  Larry was very professional, pleasant, prompt and courteous.  I will definitely use his service again in the future.

Do make an appointment for this housing event early
Do try to be there so you are clear what is will be a part of the appraisal.  I say this because I sold a home before and had an appraisal and inspection done and I felt like I did not get the full benefit of the experience. So suffice to say be involved for this process.
Do make sure you understand everything that will go into the Appraisal; the appraisal will not necessarily cover the items that a home inspection will cover.  You will need to get an Home Inspection to cover the items that are not up to code and or liveable standard.
Don't try to add "what you think" the value ought to be, it is what it is, and that's why you must do a Home Inspection.

The hardest part was finding a time when Mr. Ellis and I were both available to see the property.  Once that was arranged things went smoothly.
