This company went above and beyond what they needed to do and is a class act. We knew that replacing the original clay tile roof wasn't going to be cheap and we put off doing it for numerous years because of that. Even though I figured we couldn't afford them because of their very professional brochure and the work that they had done at places like UT, James the company representative, furnished us with a bid that was lower than two others we had previously received. Since it was the original roof (1936) and had some damage to it when we purchased the home we figured our insurance company wouldn't pay for full replacement, only the newer problems, and we had been saving up in order to hopefully have it completely redone. However, when Mundo came out to inspect the roof he said he would be more than happy to meet with our insurance adjuster when they came to inspect it. With his extensive knowledge of clay tile he was able to convince our insurance company that the only proper way to repair the clay tile roof was to remove all the tiles and start from scratch. They were able to salvage the majority of the original tiles which saved on expense. They had to replace several places of decking and they used good plywood instead of the cheap OSB that most other companies use. They then installed an "ice and water barrier" that had an automatic sealing capability for any nails, over the decking before they relaid the new tiles to further stop any possibility of leaks. The new tile that was ordered matched perfectly to the 75 year old tiles that were reused. The crews worked hard and efficiently throughout the whole job. They were very careful when removing the old tiles as not to break them and carefully stacked them in the yard. Mundo noticed that some of the flashing wasn't installed on a couple of small areas on our front porch and back entry porch that has metal roofing and he had them cut and install the flashing where needed. These were areas that they did not install the roofing on and was an item that they didn't have to do, but they did to make sure that our entire house was dried in and roofed properly.
One other thing is if you remember, the summer of 2011 was the summer of record heat with the temperatures up to 111 for the days they working, and they didn't slow down.
With our experience with our personal home, I know we will only be using Kidd roofing from now on for any of our other properties that we own. Definitely give them a call, you won't be disappointed!

Our insurance didn't pay for any of it because everybody kept having hail damage. Ours wasn't caused by a hail storm. We live on a green belt. First our roof was getting old, it was 16 years old, and my husband was afraid of fire. We replaced our roof with metal so that way if there was any fire, we are protected. They were referred to us and they were excellent.

It was a very good experience. They were prompt, and their prices were fair.  The price for the roof was about $14000 or $15000. They were very professional, and they did an excellent job. They were very neat. They really inspected it well to make sure they knew what we needed and what needed to be replaced and repaired. They were just really thorough. They were excellent.

We had a worn section of roof above our kitchen that we had done some DIY tiling to try and fix a few years ago. A huge storm came through at the beginning of the spring that damaged the area surrounding the patch, leaving an exposed hole. The rain started coming in the house in the middle of the storm. After the weather passed we decided to get some real professionals to repair the roof. We called around town and got a few estimates and finally settled on Kid Roofing. They quoted us a good price and were able to come out quickly to fix the roof above the kitchen.

Excellent work! Arrived on time. Used a crew of 10 men which allowed them to finish in 8 hours. Replaced old asphlat roof with new unlimited warranty roof that looks like wood shingles. Increased value of home a great deal. I was impressed that they did what they quoted and did not increase the price even when encounterd miscellaneous problems. Professional installation job along with painting eaves, flashings and turbines! Completed job with thorough clean-up of yard

I was referred to Kidd Roofing by a custom homebuilder that I am friends with. He uses them to install his roofs and recommended them to me. After viewing their website, it was apparent that this company has handled projects of all sizes. I called their office and they were quick to respond. They sent someone out that same day to measure my roof. I received my bid two days later. The salesman answered all of my questions and went over the details and the process of the job. I felt confident that they would pay attention to detail and give me a superior roof. After I signed their contract, they scheduled the re-roof for the following week. The day of the job, a Superintendent from the company showed up in the morning with the crew. He was very professional and introduced the entire crew to me. That made me feel more at ease. The crew was neat, paid attention to quality and very friendly. They also paid special attention to my yard and were sure to cover my flower garden & bushes to protect them from debris. The job took about two and a half days. They left my yard very clean and my new roof looks excellent. I have had no problems or leaks since it was installed. Hopefully, I never need another new roof, but if I do, I would use them again.

My roof started leaking after a hard rain, so I called one of my friends to see if he knew of a good roofing company. He had used D.R. Kidd recently to replace his roof in North Austin and had a good experience. D.R. Kidd responded quickly and sent out a salesman named Todd to inspect my roof. He noticed there was possible hail damage. I filed an insurance claim and he met the adjuster at my house. Todd worked with my insurance company on my behalf and was able to get the insurance company to pay to replace my roof! D.R. Kidd also gave me an upgraded warrantly and replaced some improperly installed flashings at no charge. The crews were professional and handled the job quickly. They left my yard very clean and took extra effort to pick up nails out of the yard (which is important to me since I have young children). I would recommend this company and use them again if the need arises.

I looked into this company with the Better Business Bureau and one of the things it said was that their employees were all their own but I believe they were fudging. Because there were so many people who needed roofs replaced they didn’t have the numbers of people needed so they picked up illegals. They didn’t really know what they were doing and they left a sort of supervisor here with the crew that didn’t speak a word of English. I wondered how they could be truly legal employees. Every evening for at least three days I would see the supervisor come back and pay them in cash. I can’t prove that but I witnessed it. They nearly wrecked the structural part of my house because they did not know what they were doing. I am still so angry that I don’t really know what to do. The cost was picked up by my insurance except for my deductable which I paid out of pocket. I’ve noticed people’s homes with signs in the yard that denotes the roof is being repaired by DR Kidd but I never had a sign in my yard. For part of the damage, they hired a contractor on their own dime from Round Rock to come and fix it. They would have had to spend a lot of money to fix the damage correctly. I would not use this company again if they were the last company on earth.

Work crew showed up early in the morning and spent first day taking off old roof (two story, 3600 sq ft), removing old vents blocking area of new solar panel array, and laying down the 30# felt underlayment. Prior to starting, crew covered area around house to catch falling debris and protect plants. In clean up, utilized a magnetic roller to pick up nails, and overall did a fine job of removing all debris. At the same time we had an electrician working on the side of our home upgrading our existing electrical service in preparation for connection of solar array panels to electric grid. He reported to me that the roofing crew seemed to be efficient and know their stuff, and most importantly, did not hit him with any falling debris at all. On 2nd day D.R. Kidd’s work crew came back to install our new shingles, and coordinated their efforts well with the solar energy company (Meridian Energy) work crew that came out to install mounts for a solar panel array; finished relocating a heating vent that was too close to solar area, and waiting for mounts to be finished before shingling in that area of roof. Almost 10 people on the roof at one time made an interesting sight. Kidd work crew commented upon our Armour Guard shingles as being noticeably stronger and thicker than standard shingles they typically install, and mentioned they had a noticeable premium quality. Only disadvantage was that as we installed on a cold day in January 2009, shingles not in a sunny area seemed to not lay flat on roof, needing sunlight or heat from a warmer day to soften its stiffness to allow flexibility to rest tight on roof. Finished complete job with a third trip out to do a gazebo in our rear yard.
