JIM MCCRACKEN HOME REMODELING & REPAIR

Jim owes us a significant amount of money which he had received on a draw. I would highly not recommend him.

Mr McCracken was prompt and courteous. He indicated how he would perform the repairs to the cedar columns that support our porch roof, and wrote an estimate of fairly reasonable price. Mr McCracken said that he planned to consult with his father regarding the details; this gave us the impression that we were a bit outside his usual line of work.

Outstanding work! Complete bathroom remodel and deck tear-down/rebuild. Great craftsmanship and quality work. Will use again.

Jim was lovely and seemed to have a great attention to detail. That being said, I never heard back from him. I emphasized with him how important it was for him to get back to me asap, as we were in a time crunch. Never heard a peep from him. Had to hire someone else.

At first it went great, until the excuses began. Jim would show up late, or not at all, and there was always something far more pressing keeping him from finishing things. I gave him my list in priority; he worked it completely backward. I asked him to do touch ups where he had been sloppy with the paint; he never did it. I asked him to help me shorten the hose on my dryer; he took the door off, pulled out the dryer and left it that way. Then, we had a conversation that ended with, "See you tomorrow," I didn't see him again for SIX weeks! I actually caught him working up the street for a neighbor I had recommended him to! After calling him on the carpet about the half finished projects, he came back to complete two more projects, then confirmed by email that he would be back to paint my kitchen this Tuesday, and guess what, he never showed and never explained why he didn't show. He is COMPLETELY unreliable, sloppy, and FULL of excuses!

Did not call back after I left a message, I spoke to a man one time.

This went poorly. I had contacted him by email from this list. Initially it was answered. I spent the next three weeks trying to get him to come by and measure the job, while I found the tile. He was going to give me the contractor price for the tile and gave me a quote for it from the store where I found it. After the first week, he did not answer my emails within three days and did not return phone calls. He indicated that he could do my small job, 150 SF bdrm and would make time for it, but he only returned one or two phone calls in 3 weeks, despite answering many emails. I am still waiting for him to let me know he needs the work so that I can tell him the work was given to someone who had better customer service skills than he did. I will never know the quality of his workmanship, as he did not give me the opportunity to use his skills. If you can use him, by all means do, but he was too busy or inconsiderate to communicate in a timely or reasonable manner with me.

I selected Jim after working with many contractors in the past for our 60 year old house. We had a leak in our roof and he corrected the inside damage, plus did several other projects in our bathroom (re-grout and repair hot water line) and re-plumb our wood front door. He is very knowledgeable about all types of repairs and makes suggestions for possible other solutions that may be more economical. He was very easy to work with and I would highly recommend him.

He was very personable, showed up every day when he said he would, cleaned up after himself. I recommend him without reservation.

HE WAS AN EXCELLENT PAINTER. MR. MCCRACKEN GAVE US THE BEST PAINT JOB WE EVER HAD. HE WAS VERY QUIET DURING THE WORK AND NEVER DISTURBED US. HE ALSO CLEANS UP AFTER HIMSELF VERY WELL.
