I had my cabinets semi-refaced (new doors and drawer fronts). Since I knew I wanted white I had a cabinet maker use paint grade materials for the doors and drawer fronts. I had no idea how this paint job would be accomplished but Jerry and his crew removed all the doors, drawers and hardware and set up a spray area in my garage. They completely covered everything on my garage walls with plastic and placed drop cloths throughout. For the fixed cabinetry in the kitchen they covered the floors with taped down paper, covered my stove and dishwasher with the same and taped down cardboard to protect my granite. My kitchen is semi open by a breakfast bar into the family room so they had to make a "wall" of plastic to enclose the kitchen for spraying. Thank goodness for this because as strong as the fumes were in the rest of the house while the paint was fresh, it was really pungent inside this bubble. That is the only regret I had about this paint job, that I didn't do it earlier or later in the year with cooler weather so we could air out more comfortably. Jerry explained that parts of the existing cabinetry base might "show" a bit of the wood grain through the white paint. I told him I could deal with that, my cabinets had previously been such an ugly orangy-honey stain color that a touch of grain under certain light conditions was no big deal, but his crew did such a good job of priming that I hardly notice any wood grain. My kitchen turned out beautiful, I was nervous about putting things back into my cabinets right away and probably waited longer than necessary but it was fun, like moving into a new house!
Description of Work: Painted kitchen cabinets white inside and out (over previous stain).
