Hope's Tailor Shop & Alterations

I showed them the seem that needed to be repaired. I was told that they would try their best to repair the shirt since it was a difficult repair. Within a few days the shirt looked like new.

My windows were all 103" tall and the drapes were 108" unhemmed. (For 12 years I've lived without any window coverings so this was a big undertaking.) I feel Hope Alterations did a good job and had I been unhappy with anything, I believe the shop's owner would have made it right. The cost, frankly, seemed like a lot but considering I had a quote of $400.00/one drape panel for custom drapes = $1,200/window (4 panels), in comparison, the cost per panel ($52.) plus alteration ($35.) was much less. I wanted to hire someone who had been in the sewing business for a long time and was reputable. I can't sew, nor did I have the time to hem 36 drapes even if I knew how. I also didn't know anyone privately who would do the job. The cost listed is with tax included and the drapery panels were each 54 inches wide. The shop also fixed the sides of some of the drapes because they were sewn incorrectly (probably by a factory worker in China). I looked at other reviews of Hope on-line, and they were pretty positive. I plan to have Hope make some valances for me as well.

I returned at the requested time, after 12 noon, to pick up the dress. She had not yet done it. I think there was some confusion on her part. Anyway, she told me to come back at 4 and it would be ready. I returned at 4, it was ready, it was perfect and she discounted the price a few dollars since I had to come twice. She did an EXCELLENT job on the dress.

Poorly, there is not such place of business

The material was delicate and we were very nervous about having work done. Took dress in to have hem shortened, remove some ruching and tighten halter neckline. What a beautiful job she did. Our daughter looked gorgeous. Thank you for your wonderful work.

I took two sport coats to Hope’s. One was new and the other was a bit older. Both coats needed to be taken in around the waste; the sleeves, upper back and collar region needed some tailoring as well. I was concerned at first, having recently gone through a nightmare experience at Nordstroms. Hope was very careful in getting both coats pinned. During the fitting I asked a ton of questions and second guessed just about every single thing the poor lady did. After the terrible fitting I had gotten at Nordies I wasn’t going to leave anything to chance. Hope put me at ease promising a perfect final result. She finished her work exactly on time and both coats look phenomenal. She remembered how skeptical I had been the week before so while I was trying on the final product she checked every single detail to be sure she was satisfied. When she was done she quibbled with her Spanish accent, “…and you doubted me! I’ve been doing this since before you were born.” I’ve returned with a couple of suits that needed to be refreshed and she’s done a perfect job each time. Though her costs are a bit higher than other places, her work is excellent and well worth the price. Hope’s has earned my repeat business.

I called her to see if she had time to alter 4 pairs of pants in 3 days. She said yes, so I went over to her place, tried them on, she marked them up with tailor's chalk. She said they would be ready in 3 days (over a weekend, too!). They were ready. I took them home, tried them on, and they fit perfectly!

Exactly what I had hoped for. Will return for otehr projects.

I tried on each pair of pants, Hope measured and pinned each pair to my specifications. I took them in on a Thursday and she had my items ready on Monday. She was very nice and did an excellent job on all 4 pants.

I've been looking for a good inexpensive seamstress/alterations place. I'd been going to the place in Barton Creek mall, mostly for convenience. I found Hope's Tailor on Angie's lists. So, I emailed them asking for a price list. The email was returned with an incorrect email address. So, I decided to give them another chance and called. The woman who answered the phone was clearly distracted. When I asked her how much it would be to hem a pair of pants and take them in at the waist, she couldn't tell me. She said the owner of the shop would be back later and could I bring the pants in! She was able to tell me that a simple hem would be $12.50. Well, that's the same price as the mall, so I'll continue to go there.

The general alterations were very well done and work was completed on time. The only issues I had were. One of the loops added to bustle the train proved too small for use. Would have been nice if this had been checked prior to initial pick up so I didn't have to take it back for an adjustment. There were large black streaks on part of the skirt and train.

Excellent service received. I called all other tailor shops in Austin and Hope was the only one, who offered same day service. She saved the day! My sons were able to have perfect-fitting pants for a wedding. Hope's service was fast, very affordable and very well done.
