year of service (in advance). They told me that included quarterly visits and that if I saw any insects after a visit I could call for complimentary re-visit. It was all included for the $380/year. I still thought that was a bit pricey but the complimentary re-visits is what sold me. They gauranteed the insects would be gone or they'd come back. They also gave me a discount for paying a year in advance. The normal price is over $100/visit.
Well they lied. When I called to take advantage of one of my in-between visits, they gladly sent someone out to my home. However a month later I get a bill in the mail for $108.25. I tried to call them but their and quot;billingand quot; department is only open Monday-Friday 8-5pm which happens to be when I, like most people, are at work and can't always make personal phone calls. No email nor any other contact method is provided on the bill. Nor did they make any attempt to contact me by phone.
Then it gets worse, they send me another bill saying they are sending my account to collections. They made no attempts to reach out to me and see why I hadn't paid the bill. You'd think that you wouldn't need to worry about being sent to collections over a charge that:
1.) Nobody told me I would be charged.
and
2.) I never authorized or agreed to be charged.
Bottom line, stay away from these guys unless you enjoy dealing with
unauthorized charges and being sent to collections for not paying
something that you were never told about nor agreed to.
As far as their quality of service. I actually had more insect problems after I hired Hometeam than I had before. They do almost nothing to combat ants. So I still found myself doing the ants on my own. Also, I spent less than $100 a year at Home Depot for the chemicals to do the treatments myself and doing them every few months only took me about 20 minutes to go around and spray all the pest entry points and sprinkle fire ant killer in the yard. I don't see how these guys can justify $100 a visit for a service that doesn't even work any better than doing it yourself for less than a quarter of the cost.
We were so pleased, in fact, that we decided to have Home Team Pest Defense take over the problems we were having at the main house, which was not built to accommodate the Taexx system. Using conventional means, our previous pest service had fought indoor scorpions and the mostly outdoor red-headed centipedes, carpenter and fire ants, etc., on a monthly basis, but without great success. After learning that Home Team also excels in conventional spray methods, we gave them a try. Home Team now comes quarterly (they'll come more immediately, whenever needed) and their entomology-trained technicians provide a better, and safer, spray mixture that thoroughly succeeds in keeping both our houses and their grounds bug-free, To put a nice icing on the cake, we now have effective pest control for our two residential buildings and their surrounds that is LESS COSTLY per year than what we were paying for our previous service to treat a single house.
A notation about the Home Team: Eric, our regular technician, presents a neat appearance and always comes on time, works diligently and speedily, and has an invariably pleasant and professional mien. My friends have different Home Team technicians, but they tell me that their Home Team service technicians are likewise excellent.
I rarely see pests inside, and if I do, Hometeam is good about coming out to retreat promptly, which will usually take care of the issue.
The problem that I have is the post-service marketing. They send very sneaky and quot;invoicesand quot; in the mail that aren't invoices at all if you read them... They're doing what any good business would do and they're trying to get you to renew your service with them. However, the way these are written and formatted though makes it look like a bill and like you owe them money. My wife nearly paid the $189.44 and quot;Invoiceand quot; but I caught it before she sent it out.
A phone call or a flyer in the mail would have done you better. Trying to trick the unsuspecting into renewing with your business is dishonest.
If anyone who works at angielist wants to see a copy of the doc I can fax it to you. You'll see that this is bogus.
