We first contacted  Garage Monkeyz in 2016 for some garage shelving above our garage doors.  Their "expert" Jaime came to our house and instead talked us into getting shelves attached to our ceiling below where the garage door rests when it is open.  We didn't think that would work because the overhead space would be limited by the doors when they were opened but Jaime insisted that it works well, so we trusted her.  The installer came out to install them, and put their supports too close to the supports for the garage doors.  There was no room for any bins because they would have to maneuver around both sets of supports.  We then had to call/write back to request to have them moved.  They were unresponsive and we had to reach out a few times.  Finally Jaime answered and said that she had been very busy and had migraine problems so was out for a while.  We tried to be sympathetic and understanding but it still took a while for Garage Monkeyz to come back to fix the problem. When they finally did, they unfortunately left the patched holes unpainted where they moved the supports so it is a bit unsightly still.  They also over tightened the new shelving so that there were significant cracks in the pressed wood shelving and we did not notice those until months later.  We sent pictures of the cracks in their shelving and Paul wrote a flippant response saying not to worry because the cracks were just cosmetic and not structural.  These cracks were very big and unsightly and I know they had to threaten the integrity of the shelves.
I insisted they come back out and fix the problem and they finally did but they acted like we were being a bit of a problem.  (I have the pictures and have tried to attach them here but Angie's list does not seem to have a way to attach pictures.)  We later decided to add more shelving and were torn about saving loads of money by using Lowes Kobalt metal shelving or staying with Garage Monkeyz (even though they are overpriced for lesser quality as Lowes). Ulitmately we decided to go with Garage Monkeyz again because we thought it would look nicer if all of our shelving matched.  Garage Monkeyz came back out and installed some more shelving and charged us $2364 for just 10ft of shelving.  Luckily we caught the error and they fixed it.  Overall, there were just too many problems with Garage Monkeyz lack of customer service and the lesser quality products for over inflated prices.  We ended up paying over $3,400 for pressed particle board shelving that already has cracks in it and could have instead had Lowes install their Kobalt metal shelving that would last a lot longer and look just as nice for less than half the cost.
Ironically we had also spoken with Jaime about finishing our garage floor, but she dropped the ball on that and never got back to us with a quote.  Our garage holds 3 + cars and they have lost a lot of future business with us (and our neighbors) because of the way we were treated.  I would definitely suggest going with a higher quality metal shelving product over the pressed particle board shelving provided by Garage Monkeyz.

Response from Garage Monkeyz

"Sorry Mr. [Member Name Removed]. I am surprised I am seeing this just now. I don't recall getting a notice that I had received this review. I get notices when i get messages on Angie's list, however. I looked through all of my previous jobs too tonite and I am surprised that I don't have any records of doing any jobs for someone of your name on or near the date you are stating. If you have a legitimate project that we worked on for you, and have issues, please let us know directly. That will help me understand and better resolve issues in the future. For all other members of Angies List, please contact me directly if you have questions regarding our product and/or customer service."

Professional, patient and a quality job on our new garage floors. We are very pleased with Paul Sommerfield and his team of installers. We ran into an issue with driveway access but they just rolled with it and worked around the situation. They were positive and enthusiastic the entire time. The price and experience were great and the floor looks great!

We did quite a bit of research on 10-year warranty epoxy floor solutions, and this company is one of the few that offer such a warranty.  Of the several companies contacted for this work, the estimate was the most expensive due in part of the complexity of the garage floor layout - 9-12 inch rise with concrete steps.  Since the complexity of the garage floor was taking into account in the estimate, I believed there was enough knowledge and experience to handle this job.

The floor preparation, epoxy coating, and full cast was performed as planned, and the top coat applied the following day.  The floor looked fantastic 48 hours later.  The horizontal portions of the floor looked fantastic.  But the areas where the complexity was, the vertical rises and concrete steps, the final outcome was "spotty" - gaps in the epoxy floor and irregular application of the top coat.  They tried to work through the issues we found to best of their ability, but in the end, several patch jobs failed within days and other areas just looked different.  Without starting over, I don't believe they can be resolved.

Due to the nature of the materials, a job needs to be a "done right the 1st time" job.  I personally feel not enough planning and detail was provided in the complex areas of the garage, and those areas looked rushed.  Our estimate and price reflected the complex areas, however, the result did not reflect the price and I am left as if I could have spent less and got the same result.

Finally, I cannot say I am completely dissatisfied.  The horizontal portions of the garage look are great, it has a 10-year warranty, and if I had an flat floor garage, I would seriously think about using them again; in fact I do have another garage which doesn't have the complexity of the other garage.  But I cannot help but feel the additional cost for the additional complexity was unnecessary.
Response from Garage Monkeyz

"(Removed member name) - thank you for the review. For members - we did not charge more for complexity. If fact, we gave them a discount! For general information, we charge for the amount of concrete covered including the verticals - because it also takes material and we need to assure we account for that in our ordering. So I took into account the vertical concrete which was about 11" and added that to the horizontal square footage. There is no charge for complexity. We do special things all the time and don't charge for it because we feel as though our customers are worth it. We promptly returned to (Removed member name) house twice to accommodate their unhappiness. Please ask us if you have any questions about this job."

Awesome to work with from start to finish! From our first appointment/estimate to the install date everyone was very courteous and
on time. Jane and her team are just the best. They designed a monkey bar storage system that works perfectly in our awkward garage and gave us some options that I didn?t think was possible.  We also had an epoxy floor applied, which is nothing but perfect. There was a plethora of colors to choose from. The warranty they offer cannot be beat. I would definitely use them again.

Jane and her crew were fabulous!  She was incredibly flexible with our timing.  Plus she used her new floor grinder which helps the epoxy bond to the concrete better.  They were professional and punctual.  The end result was amazing!  Will definitely use again when we expand the garage.  And would highly recommend her company!

Hired Garage Monkeyz to apply epoxy coating to garage flooring.
The process from start to finish was stellar.  The quality of the flooring is superb, and the outcome is phenomenal.  Dealing with the staff was great, from Tiffany who provided the quote, Jane the owner/manager, and Pat the installer.  The process was explained thoroughly, with no hiccups along the way.  There were a ton of color options to choose from.  The application went smoothly, they arrived when they said they would, and cleaned up as if they were never there.  And their warranty is the best in the business.
Give them a try as you won't be disappointed!

Pat arrived early on a Wednesday and we had not quite finished getting everything out of the garage so he helped us do that.  He then repaired and thoroughly cleaned the garage floor.  Then came the epoxy and the flakes.  The garage floor was completely covered with flakes so the base doesn't show through at all.  Everything was left to dry until Friday morning.  Pat returned, right on time, and swept off the floor before adding the final clear coat.  We were concerned about the odor and also about how slippery the floor would be.  The smell dissipated rapidly and wasn't a problem.  The flakes gave the floor plenty of texture so it isn't slippery but is also fine to walk on barefooted.  The floor looks terrific and we are very pleased!   Jane, Tiffany and Pat are wonderful to work with too.

The floors turned out beautiful and were done promptly, with professionalism. I just had the one garage done this past week, so I can't comment on the long term durability yet. However, the materials used are high grade commercial products and MUCH better than the hardware store specials that I used in my previous house. There is a significant cost difference, but it is well worth it. There is a significant difference in the result. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I got estimates from another couple of providers, and Garage Monkeyz had the best price.
The product used is based on polyurea instead of the polyurethane also common for garage floor coatings. Polyurea has less volatile organic compounds than polyurethane resulting in much less odor during the curing process. It also cures faster so the job is done very quickly. The prep work did not involve using muriatic acid to prepare the concrete. I am not an expert on this, but I was satisfied with the results.
I initially scheduled the installation in January, but the weather turned very cold. Garage Monkeyz was still willing to do the job, but I decided to wait for warmer temperatures. They were very accommodating on relatively short notice, and worked with me to make sure I was satisfied.
E-mails were promptly replied to, and the owner was easily reachable by phone. If she was busy, she'd return the call within the same day.

They're great. The guy knew wha he was doing. He did it in one to two days. He told me exactly what when he's going to get it done. He did it the way he said he was. He charged me exactly what he said he did. He cleaned up. He did it perfectly. He asked me where I wanted things as far as how high and how far it is. It looks wonderful. It has been 4-5 months now. It looks great. She did it right. They were right on time.

We had some scheduling mixups and disconnects but they were not a huge problem.  Tiffany the salesperson was very easy to work with even as we changed our requirements.  Terry the installer did a great job and even helped us fit some bins into the new racks.  The racks themselves are everything we hoped for, very sturdy and look good.  Prices can be pretty high and we pared our original vision way down after getting a first estimate of many thousands of dollars.  If you really need extremely strong shelving everywhere and have plenty of cash this company will be great for you.  If you are on a tighter budget you might have to be more choosy and do more of the extras yourself.

FIrst day: Diamond ground floor and applied base coat
Second Day: Broadcast the flakes and spread the Poly!
Third Day: Was able to put all my stuff back in garage
Looks fantastic. Garage Monkeyz were professional, friendly, and competent. The garage has gone from being the overflow storage to a space we use. I sometimes forget that it was done, and want to avoid the garage. I get out there and always remember that this was money well spent!

They did a fantastic job.  Jane came by to show examples.  She walked me through the whole process.  We scheduled the job before we moved into the house.  The technician got in the nooks and crannies of the garage that I couldn't believe he could.  I would definitely hire them again for a future house.
