Fencing Done Right

This company is not named correctly. Fencing done right is not done right. They were late in the first place to build & install - by about a month. When first installed it was less than 1/2 inch from the concrete and I told him it had to be at least 1 inch to be correct - he fixed it and I paid him the other 1/2. I have since had 2 warranty items on the welding - really? the welds just broke. On the second item I have been asking him to fix it (1 simple weld but need a portable welder) for over 2 weeks - going to do it and now silence. Please do NOT use this company

Fence appears to be sturdy enough. A few posts are wobbly and seated below ground in concrete. The gate was made by Matt himself and welded in to 6" pipe with bracing supporting the hinges.

We signed the contract in February and Matt asked for $12,200 up front. It took them about 2 months to start on the job and about a month to finish it.

It was a fair experience but Matt is hard to reach and consistently asked for cash draws during the project. It seemed like he was constantly short of money. However, the bad part is his warranty work. Approx 6 month after job completion, the front gate opener stopped working. I've been calling him for the past month and only got one return phone call promising he'd get to me after the Thanksgiving holiday but my last couple phone messages have remained unreturned.

I did speak with a man who actually programmed the gate opener for Matt and was told that he remained unpaid for his work. At this time I am going to go ahead and pay a different gate contractor to come get the gate to function. This should be warranty work but it appears that Matt is not interested in servicing his customers.

Matt asked for money upfront so that he could buy Cedar fence posts.  The fence posts were dropped off within a day.  However, a portion of these posts were removed from my property during the first few days of the project.  I'm presuming Matt was trying to finish up another project and needed additional fence posts.  It was apparent after the first week of work, that Matt was somewhat disorganized and they were falling behind in their work schedule.  Matt approached me at the end of the second week of the project asking for additional money to buy more fence posted because he had underestimated the number of posts needed for my project.  Matt and his crew finally finished their work after three weeks.  The fence looks okay from a distance, but on close inspection it appears that overall workmanship is marginal.  When Matt's crew fell behind after the first week, they were trying to finish the job as quickly as possible, which effected workmanship and attention to detail.  If I had to build this fence again, I would hire a different contractor.  Matt Hudson is a very personable guy, but he's not the best fence contractor.
