The Level 1 couse exceeded my expectations in every way. I had received high performance driver training through other organizations prior to taking the Driveway Austin course, and found Driveway Austin's approach to be far superior to any I had taken in the past. Things as simple as teaching the proper method of rolling in/rolling our with the steering wheel through the turns, and how to maintain proper hand position on the wheel, helped me immensely with my smoothness. And the way they emphasized the importance, and methodology, of controlled weight transfer was very enlightening. Learning how to trail brake (as opposed to just brake in a strainght line before turn-in as I had been taught previously) further improved the smoothness of my cornering technique, Finally, for the first time, I was taught how to throttle steer, which helped break a bad habit I had developed of applying too much steering lock in the early part of the turn, and then continuing to apply lock after the apex. Driveway Austin's approach of spending a day in the course, followed by ten practice sessions, and then passing a test before advancing to the next level, is a unique and hghly effective way for the students to truly absorb the techniques, and to be able (hopefully) to translate them to new, unfamiliar tracks. I just can't say enough good things about Driveway Austin, and I would HIGHLY recommend it to any aspiring racer, or anybody who just want to hone their track driving skills.
