Rentals - Cars
$361

I recently rented a car from Dollar and wanted to let you know about my experience.

I reserved a Mid-sized SUZ well ahead of picking up my car on 05/11/2015. My RA# is redacted.

When I arrived at Charlotte-Douglas Internal Airport I had to finally ask someone where to find the car rental location. It was new and no one had bothered to put up any signs.

After going through all the falderal to sign papers I went to the garage to get my Mid-sized SUV. There was one Toyota Rav-4 there and some Mazda small SUVs.  I loaded up in the Rav-4 and pulled up to the gate when I noticed that the ?Mtce Req? light was on. I returned the car, unloaded and reloaded in one of the Mazda small SUVs, because that was all there was in the spot for Mid-sized SUVs.

We left the garage and headed for our destination. I wasn?t too far down the highway when I noticed that at anything over 60 MPH the steering wheel had just enough shimmy to be annoying. Obviously an alignment or wheel balance problem. I glanced up at the service sticker in the top left corner of the windshield and it had been there so long that the writing had faded away. Not telling the last time this vehicle had been serviced.

Since I had trouble locating the rental car garage when we got to the airport, I felt that I should verify the car return location at Charlotte-Douglas International. The evening before we returned, I went to the Dollar website and found a listing of 4216 Air Ramp Rd. Your map for that address showed it to be south of the airport off of West Blvd.. Just to make sure, I called Dollar and confirmed the address. I was told that I had the correct address, but when I asked for a phone number for the local Dollar office in Charlotte, since they had just recently moved, I was told that they didn?t have a direct line.

On the morning of May 15th, we attempted to find an Air Ramp Rd. off of West Blvd. and it simply wasn?t there. If you check out your webpage for the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport location, the map still shows the wrong location. Luckily I had given us extra time and we circled back up to the airport where I found some Car Rental Return signs and we were able to return the car that was less than I had contracted for in the first place.

Since I traveled 11 years for business before I recently retired,  I?m not a novice traveler. I know what to expect and I simply can?t think of anywhere that Dollar satisfied what I had contracted for in our agreement.

I sent this email to Dollar Rent a Car on 05-16-2015 and haven't received a reply.

UPDATE: JUNE 23, 2015

Following my prior complaint, Dollar Rent A Car emailed me their apologies and mailed me 4- $10 coupons for savings on my next rental with them.

That was their response to my complaint, I'll let everyone make up their own mind if they think that was the appropriate response.
