DH Lawn And Landscaping

We've used DH Landscaping 2-3 times at our home in Austin and most recently at a property in Fredericksburg. In the past we've had a very good experience with the company however; not so much on our last go around. The big problem is that there is very poor communication within the company. What you tell "Sales" may or may not be communicated to those working the job. This is very frustrating! Even after repeated follow-up visits to the property the job was not competed to spec. If you work with DH then I'd recommend going through the contract with a fine toothed comb to make sure that everything discussed in scoping the project is documented in detail. Our situation is unfortunate since the owners are nice people and they have done great work for us in the past.

My wife and I had dreamed of adding on an outdoor living space for years. We love to be outside, and living in Austin allows us good weather for most of the year. We had talked to a couple other companies before a neighbor recommended DH. Chad came out, looked at our space out back, then sat down and we talked about what we wanted. The price was better than another company, wasn't the cheapest, but Chad stood by his work and we felt comfortable moving forward. Once the crew started, it was the same crew every day, they were consistently on time, worked Monday-Friday from 9-5. The crew are all salaried employees of DH, each wearing the company logo while working, which is a big difference than the sub-contractors that other companies use... Made me feel much better about leaving for work with my wife and kids at home. And Chad was easy to work with if we ever had any questions along the way. The result was a fantastic, massive, outdoor kitchen and living space which we enjoy every day. Highly recommend these guys!

Arranged for a specific time to give us an estimate: 6:30pm on 8/14/13. His office even called to confirm the time. When 7:30 came with no show or phone call I called his cell phone and got voice mail. I left a message telling him to not even bother

Chad and Office Manager Nicole are top professionals in this field. The bid process was smooth and they stayed within my budget but were able to provide the must have's without compromising the overall expectations. Each day the workers were on time, very neat and considerate of my home. They cleaned up every day without any reminders. First time I went through a contractor that I never had to do a punch list. The work was done precisely for each stage, no shortcuts, and they communicated daily as to what was still needed and when it would be completed. They are a terrific group to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Above all it is important to be able to not worry about the end product and the day over day results showed that the final build was definitely going to be exactly what I wanted.

They did a good job. They were very efficient. They were just a very organized crew and they knew what they were doing. I've had no problems at all.

Great, they were on time and very clean and they showed up every day. They were easy to talk to to make changes, they have a great eye for detail.

Very well. We contacted them for an initial estimate and design, both of which were free. After a few weeks of contemplating and gathering our budget, we contacted DH for the install. They were able to schedule our project within a few weeks, and phased it out for us as well.

Although the dog yard and waterfall continue to be useful almost every other aspect of the landscape installation has had some problems. The patio was not sloped correctly so that it collects water next to the house, the retaining wall was dry stacked with no foundation underneath. It is not a hazard but I have been warned by other landscapers to watch children around it. The driveway was a large expense and they were supposed to address drainage issues from run off of a neighbor's house. Their initial solution was bad and it was almost a year before they came back to address the problem. (I had to threaten them with my lawyer to get them to come back.) They came back and said that they had a solution that would involve the neighbor's cooperation. The neighbor set an appointment so that they could explain the solution to the neighbor and they never showed up. It has been another year and I finally gave in and paid another landscaper to fix the drainage. I had not been able to use the upper part of my drive in the initial two years of the installation and had to pay an additional $4000 to get the drive fixed. This company may make have some pretty designs on their web page but I would not trust them to address any serious landscaping issues. My experience is that they make big claims that they cannot fulfill.
