This contractor was so bad that we paid her to leave our house with the work still unfinished after six weeks--not one room was completed. It took three contractors from Angie's List before anyone would even agree to tackle all the mistakes that she made, and make them right--it was too overwhelming for most of them. She gouged our ceiling repeatedly while removing popcorn (we ended up buying her a tool and teaching her how to do it correctly), didn't cover any of the furniture in the room despite our request to do so to protect my son from asthma and the antique furniture from grit. She brought a friend with no experience into our house without our permission because she owed the woman money and she wanted an extra set of hands. She painted the ceiling with gloss paint so every imperfection could be seen in any light from any direction. Plus she dropped a sander on our beautiful wooden windowsill so we had to replace it. She pulled wallpaper off a wall that we asked her not to touch but she said she was curious to see what was behind the wallpaper (as another contractor said, "Why wouldn't she look behind the toilet instead of the middle of the room?"). She painted natural wood with white paint even though we told her not to because she thought it would look better. She bought things for our home which we didn't want, then charged us for her time to buy them and to return them back to the store. She bought things for the house that we didn't want, charged us for them, then took them home with her. She helped herself continually to food in our house, and when confronted, made light of it. She told my young daughter that it was OK not to listen to me and convinced her to give her one of her stuffed animals for her cat! BTW, the folks we hired to repair all the work Debbie had messed up, and completely retexture and paint the interior of the house, were less expensive and did a perfect job and finished in less than two weeks.
