Del's Heating & Air Conditioning

We originally had a arrival time between 3-4pm. They didn't show up until 6:30pm which is why I didn't give them the highest rating. They found the cause of the leak from our plenum: a splash guard was disconnected and a drain line was clogged. This was after another company had recommended reinstalling our system, for $2,400, to fix the leak and yet another company that had "cleared" the drain line. I think we've found a new company to depend on for our HVAC needs, as long as we can get the scheduling worked out. Thanks.

Arrived on time. Courteous person who quickly got to work.Checked the heating system first and found no issues although it had not been serviced since I was in the house (2.5 years).
Requested that he look at the A/C as well which he did and no issues found there either. He showed me where the A/C drain went into the guest bathroom sink (which I didnt know).
Provided tips for routine maintenance and was thoroughly professional.

Del Torres was asked to provide an estimate for a replacement air conditioning and heating unit at my wife's and my residence. He personally came out to our place, arriving even earlier than the appointed time, efficiently reviewed our furnace and AC needs, and noted that we did not require a larger unit [than our previous two and a half ton one] given our home size (though another contractor had insisted we should have a bigger [three ton] system, notwithstanding that the formula for proper energy conservation indicating the unit size we previously had was sufficient). We appreciated Mr. Torres' professionalism, evident command of the trade, and sincere interest in doing right by his customers. All things considered, we were happy to go with his bid, which included sales tax and city permit and was among the lowest.
Mr. Torres arranged for a mutually convenient time to start the work, and his crew was on hand and ready to begin several minutes before the time agreed. He supervised his team through the process, and within a few hours we had a new system with the old one carted away.
Mr. Torres deducted a manufacturer's rebate from the total due before payment and also provided us with the specific paperwork, already filled in by him with respect to the new system info, so that applying for two remaining rebates would be a simple matter.
He and his crew also installed a new thermostat and made sure our system was working properly (both heating and cooling) before leaving. We were also shown the outer and inside units and the drawer for easy, regular removal and replacement of the filter, plus the drainage tube into which we were advised to put some bleach periodically, to help assure no buildup of fungus or debris inside, that might clog it up and result in a leak into the garage. We are now awaiting a "clean bill of health" from the city's inspector, but could not be more pleased with the work, competence, helpfulness, and price. All seems to be working well, more powerfully yet quietly than what we had before, and we are sure Mr. Torres will promptly assist if there are any significant difficulties with our heating and air-conditioning system in future. We certainly shall continue to use his service and can recommend it to others.

I called him when I returned home from a short trip on a Friday, July 26 2013, to discover that one of my three air conditioning units was not cooling. In fact, the compressor was not even running. He called me Sunday morning (would have called Saturday but the heat had gotten the best of him that day and he had to quit early to re-hydrate). After I told him about the issue (I had left message to that effect as well) he insisted that he would come out that day. Again, a Sunday and when questioned about a premium charge said he would only charge his normal service call rate.
Del was on time, if not early and he accessed the problem quickly. There had been a spark between the wire(s) and a pipe that had resulted in a hole, which in turn had discharged all the freon in the unit. He gave us the bad news about the problem and said that the fix itself wasn't going to cost a ridiculous amount but that the freon charge would run about $450. Although we have a homeowners warranty that would have paid to fix this issue we decided that Del was a much better option. We gave our consent for him to fix it.
After an hour or so he came back, finished and with a bill for $440.00, under what he had originally quoted us for JUST the freon charge!
It has continued to be my experience that Del is a man of integrity and dependability. He also seems to have the ability to put himself in someone else's shoes and make his business decisions based on what he would expect. Highly unusual, these days.

Del worked me into his schedule the same day and arrived when he said he would. He advised that there would be a $76 fee to show up and diagnose. Del observed that the fix was as simple as by-passing the timing relay and performed the work at no charge beyond the $76 service fee. This service was for my rental property and I was not present when the work was done. Del sent me an invoice and receipt via e-mail. I will use Del again for sure.

They did good work overall.

Our A/C went out last summer and we saw his truck in the neighborhood. He came out the day I called him which was great. He was really honest which is very important to me. He was courteous and got here very quickly. He did what needed to be done and did great work. The cost was also very reasonable. I will use him in the future.

He is my go-to guy. I have referred him to others. He does great work and I would not use anyone else.

The service turned out pretty well. Their price was fair and they did a good job.

On a very cold night last week, furnace stopped working. Next morning called my regular service company, which is usually very good, and the guy they sent out tested the unit and said it could be either of two problems but was unable to pinpoint the source of the problem because he didn't have the right equipment in his truck. Mainly, recommended that the unit be replaced because it is pretty old - 15 years. I'm sure it will have to replaced before long, but right now wanted to get the problem fixed. Found Del's Heating and Air Conditioning on Angie's List with excellent ratings. Called Del's and luckily they were just finishing up a job and could stop by my house in an hour or so. Del and his assistant arrived, checked and tested the unit and found the problem to be the pressure switch (one of the possibilities the other guy said). They replaced the switch, tested it to make sure it worked; packed up their equipment; and left - all in one hour. These two men were very friendly and pleasant, and obviously very competent and knew what they were doing. Highly pleased with their service and would recommend them to anyone.

I have tried four HVAC companies in the Lakeway/Bee Cave area without anything close to a satisfactory experience. One of my units failed and I searched the List for someone new, hoping to find a reliable and responsive company. I came across Del's and gave them a try. All I can say is Wow - exceeded my expectations. Came out the next day and quickly diagnosed the issue and had the part on his truck to get the unit back up and cooling. Del was very responsive and did not try to upsell me or fix anything other than the minor part causing the problem.
Based on this experience I inquired if he offered a service program. He does (though he didn't even try to sell it to me) and I signed up, and as I have three units he discounted the program pricing. Three months later as winter approached I received a call from Del letting me know I was due for an inspection (I never would have remembered to call him) to make sure the furnace was clean and in good shape to switch from cooling to heating. He came out, cleaned and tested all the units. Showed up on time and after he left you wouldn;t know he had been there as he cleaned everything up very well.
So do hire Del for service and you will have a reliable repair company whenever you need them.

They helped me save thousands of dollars which another company wanted to charge me. They came out on time, found the problem and repaired it which impressed me.

I met with him personally. He was lovely. He knew his stuff. He was reasonable and on time. He has accomplished what he set out to do. He solved our problem.

I love them. They were excellent. I wouldn't have any qualms to recommend them to others. They are always there for emergencies.

We had a service contract with Del for over a year and were very satisfied with his services. He knows his stuff and is a very nice fellow.

I have a very old unit and he has kept the system running for the last three years, and I am very happy with that. It wasn't much for the time he spent. He was very thorough in finding the problem and in fixing it. What I would like to say about the company is that they are honest, hardworking and understand the average person's priorities. He understands that I have to save money and he is going to do his best for me. He is honest about telling me what can and can't be done. He is very relaxed and it is almost like a friend coming down to my home.

Neighbors, If you’re looking for a good, reliable, honest heating and air conditioning service, Delfino Torres is the best! We called him on June 16, 2010, after a really bad experience with Hank's Service. Without going into detail (and there is a lot of that!) about Hank’s non-service, Del came to our house exactly when he said he would, one hour after we called. He fixed our air conditioning problem in ten minutes and charged us $70, less than half what Hank was going to charge us after he made the water leakage worse the first time he came over. Hank had blamed the problem on "high humidity," but Del explained what the problem really was (major water leak from a secondary drain after the primary drain had clogged up, requiring a simple and fast blowout). Del has been in business for himself for three years, working previously for Carrier Air Conditioning, which company has supplied many referrals to Del because of his good work.

We had an A/C service visit from another company (Company A) a month ago, and got a thumbs up on the health of our system. A month later, the A/C was not working well. It turned out (Company A said) the evaporator coils were icing up. They said we probably needed a new evaporator coil and that they would send an estimate. Nothing came. Our A/C started acting poorly again. I confirmed the coils were icing up again. Tried Del's as a random selection. Though his dispatcher said Monday was the soonest he could come out, he called and managed to visit for diagnosis on Friday. He observed an oily film in the overflow pan and suspected the evaporator coil needed replacing. He recharged the system with Freon. He quoted 1200 bottom line (parts and labor) on the spot for the new coil. He said he could just charge us for the Freon fill or roll that into the 1200. We decided to hire him for the work. He committed to first thing Monday morning. Monday morning I called around 8am to re-verify. He answered and said he would be there at 9am. At 8:55 he pulled up and started working. He was done by 12 noon. He replaced the coil and drip pan with brand new material. He removed much of the evaporator drip pan drain system and replaced it with new PVC and a new P-trap. He guaranteed a clear drip line by blowing it clear with compressed nitrogen. From what I could tell in inspecting his work, he is a very contentious craftsman. He removed the old evaporator coil, drip pan, and metal coil box (as well as all packing materials) from the site when he was done. He left me the install manual for the new coil (including warranty information) and made sure I had the Model Number and Serial Number for the new coil written down just in case I needed it to pursue warranty issues. He cleaned up his work area completely. He charged exactly what he quoted. We eventually got the quote from our first company contacted and Del was cheaper by $300.
