They found a small fluid leak, and said they'd repair it in a couple of weeks because it wasn't pressing. (They know I don't have a lot of money.) I intend to go back soon. They have never tried to rip me off (believe me, I've had problems with that at other shops) and I trust them. The part in question is under warranty, so they've assured me that I won't be charged to get it fixed soon.

my car was making a whining noise...after looking on angie's list and reading all of the good reviews I felt very confident in taking my car there, they told me the power steering pump needed to be replaced, had that done problem solved...2 days later smoke coming from the radiator they had me bring it in I received the call that day letting me know there is a crack in the radiator and also there is a leak in the power steering hose I don't know a lot about cars but when the pump was replaced wouldn't you have noticed a problem with hose the cost would have been 500.00 to fix along with the 500.00 I paid to have the radiator fixed but I was told I had at least 2 months before I need to get the work done. It's been a week and a half later and my car is making the exact same noise it was making before they replaced the power steering pump. Like I said I don't know much about cars but but working on the pump without inspecting the hose don't make sense to me and after all the money I paid to have the work done and now to have the same problem I'm just a little heart broken

I brought in my spare "beater" vehicle, 2004 Mazda Tribute with 212,000 miles. for service. It needed the timing belt replaced and had a consistent oil leak. I set and appointment for service on a Friday. They said there would be some diagnosis time and most likely I wouldn't know what the estimate would be until the following Monday. I got a shuttle ride home. Following Monday I got the run down on the condition of the Mazda. We discussed what work needed to happen right away and what could wait. It was a reasonable shop price on parts and good labor rate. Total came out to just about $2,000.00 worth of work. There was plenty wrong with the Mazda to warrant the work. I picked it up that Friday. Paid ad headed on my way. We parked the Mazda in the driveway and came out the next day to see a fresh oil spot under the car. It was still leaking. I called the shop on the following Monday and they said just to bring it in when it was convenient for me. No arguments or asking to review my bill or asking if it was oil that had pooled somewhere. They just had me bring it back. I did they did a power-wash of the underside of the vehicle and added dyes to determine the location of the leak. I came back after a couple days for them to have a look. They found the oil pan gasket was leaking as well. It was immediately replaced without any question or extra charge. Now, some people may be peeved at having to go back but I was treated well and the folks in the shop are super friendly. Plus, when I had the issue they just wanted to make it right. That is some serious customer service integrity. That is a hard thing to find these days. I will be back to them for my future automotive needs and not worry.

I did use a car repair service through Angie's List and I decided the guys were crooks. He charged me $1,000 for re-keying a key that didn't have a key. It didn't have a chip in it. So I'm not going to go there again. They seemed to think just because I'm female, I don't have enough sense to figure out things. I have been working on cars since I was 16 and I'm now 69 so I've got lots of experience. And I don't like crooks so I'm not going to ever go there for anything. I told them what was wrong with the car and they just blew me off. I said it was the ignition system and the key needed to be replaced, to be redone. They kept it for weeks, gave me $1,000 bill, re-keyed it, now it works. I don't like being taken for a ride. I should have kept the car, done it myself and to hell with them. They put on a good show and if I hadn't had the knowledge I did, I wouldn't have figured it out. They scammed me.

"For the benefit of the Angie's List community, I thought it best that we at least lay out the facts in their entirety. This vehicle was serviced by our facility 4 years ago on 10/2/12. The car was originally towed in on a Friday with a cranking but no start condition. We were able to diagnose it the same day and found that the theft deterrent system known as the "Passlock" system had been activated which was common for these vehicles. We performed a relearning procedure that day that allowed the Passlock sensor to recognize the original key and finalized the repair order expecting it to be ready to go. Customer did not pick up that day and when we went to start the car to move it Monday, the system was back in failure mode. No further diagnostics were charged to confirm the issue and it was found that the sensor had again lost the memory of the chip inside the ignition key. Correct repair of that problem entails replacement of the Passlock sensor integrated into the ignition switch. Replacement of switch also requires an updated lock cylinder and key which were also replaced. After repairs were complete, a locksmith was called to come and program the components to have the algorithm needed for the computer in vehicle to recognize the new components. The vehicle was then repaired correctly and returned to customer. With the exception of the key, all other components are mounted inside the steering column behind covers and are not visible without taking the covers back off."

Everything went super well! We received our quote online and in a relatively short amount of time. We discussed the issues associated with the car, and they were very friendly about explaining the problem and the amount of work that needed to be done.

It went very well.  I had had the pads replaced before but they didn't seem right after about 6 months.  Had previous installer check  was told they worked but were noisy - made high pitched sound.
Took the van to Dave's.  A diagnostic was done and it was determined that the wrong pads were on the van and that particular year would work best with Toyota pads (much more expensive than off the shelf).  I appreciated their honesty.  While it was more expensive than what I paid in the past the front brakes hold and are quiet. With the Angie's List coupon and first time discount it has been money well spent.
I'm fine with the service provider knowing my name but please do not print this review with my full name on any of your Angie's List sites or magazines.  Thank you.

For the last month, the replaced parts have worked up to expectations.  However, the cost of the services and the parts (I checked the cost of the parts before they were replaced) were far overpriced.  When I questioned the staff at the shop before driving away why the parts they itemized were more than 3 times the cost I found at an auto parts store, their response was that they marked up the cost by no more than 20%, which is absolutely not possible.  What's worse is that I looked at the "new" parts they installed and they appeared to have clear signs of wear/age or use. When I pointed this out to the staff, the only response I got was that their work comes with a warranty for the labor, which doesn't give any guarantee about the questionable parts.
On a related, important note: I've used this service provider one other time in the last year and found my experience to be same both times - So its not a coincidence.

"We really appreciate your acknowledgement of responsiveness and professionalism. Even though those two fundamentals have little to do with the mechanical nature of repairing vehicles, our goal is to excel in customer relations just as much as we do at repairing vehicles. For the benefit of the Angie's List community, I did a little research on the pricing concerns mentioned in this review. Our client had used AutoZone for the reference of parts prices. That parts store is rarely used by repair shops particularly because of the quality in the brands of parts that they sell, but because of the large amount of DIY folks in our career field, it is a company that can stand on its own with lower cost products. As a Napa AutoCare Center, we have a responsibility to our clients to provide product brands that we can stand behind and that the customer can expect to last long beyond our 2 year and 24,000 mile Nationwide warranty. That being said, I went ahead and compared the prices of the parts we sold to the dealership of his brand of vehicle. The customer spent $214.02 LESS than he would have at the dealer had he purchased those parts himself. Not to mention that our labor fees were also less in price, we truly feel that all of our clients will receive a better value for their hard earned money than they would at a dealership that only provides a 1 year in-house warranty. As a company that genuinely cares about our customers, we will never claim to be the cheapest repair shop in town so that we don't have to align ourselves with the above mentioned parts company. What we can promise is at Dave's, you will always get what you pay for. Looking out for our client's best interest is our number one priority."

The guys at Dave's Ultimate Automotive are all very personable and super nice. I went there because my steering wheel had been shaking, but I wasn't sure what the cause was. They provided me with a free brake check. After they were done examining my car, they explained to me in both professional and layman terms what the problem was (rotors and brake pads), why it was a problem, why it was causing the symptoms it was, how they could fix it, and the different price tiers. It was nice to hear the prices for the different product lines and get real life advice on what to choose. I didn't have anybody to come get me, so I stuck around in their very comfortable waiting room. They offered to drive me wherever I needed to go, but I chose to sit and hang out. While I was waiting, I witnessed a lot of customers coming in and out that seemed to be regulars. They were all greeted by name and that made me feel comfortable knowing that people have been so satisfied that they continue to return to Dave's, even for routine things like oil changes. When all was said and done, I was very happy with my experience -- and even happier to drive my car away without any violent shaking!
