Surprisingly, Chem-Dry by the Millers seems to be a good sized carpet cleaning company in the Austin area, yet they were not listed (or if they were not under this name). The receipt I was given has numbers for New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin, San Antonio, and Austin, yet no listing under this name, seems strange to me. The receipt also did not have an address or headquarters location, only phone numbers. Two young men arrived on time and were courteous and friendly. I guess in my desire to avoid having to toss the new rug, I allowed them to give the cleaning a shot as they convinced me they had "special" urine removal chemicals. They were special alright. After working diligently on the rug for some time, they allowed it to "soak" with the chemical and proceeded with the sectional. Once done with the sectional, they returned to the rug. It was very obvious that not only were they not going to get it clean of the stains, but that it was a complete waste of time, and more importantly, my money. THE PROBLEM - they clean lots of carpets and rugs and know good and well what will come reasonably clean and what will just not look acceptable. This absolutely falls under the category of no way this would ever come clean, yet, they led me to believe there was a reasonable chance. Why? Because they were able to bill me $155 for the privilege of having a rug that wasn't even close to clean and wreaked of their chemicals for days. It was so bad, I had to put the rug outside and it took a week for the odor to subside. THE BETTER SOLUTION - they should have said, we clean hundreds of carpets and rugs and in our experience, there is no way we will get this rug to an acceptable condition and we will just be taking your money if we do. They are the experts and part of what we rely upon and pay experts for is their opinion in order to save us money. Not here - I believe they took advantage of my desire to "save" my new rug and proceeded with work they knew wouldn't work, at great expense. I give them an F for the rug as the best quality of service they could have provided was a refusal to perform the service due to experience in knowing it would not come clean and I would be dissatisfied. They also cleaned a sectional, which took them maybe 20 minutes. While it was clean and the job here was acceptable, it was $140, which seemed high for just the front side. I had a coupon and they found excuses why it wouldn't work on my job. I give them a "B" for the sectional due to price. Overall, I just felt ripped off. I give them a D (avg the low B and the F with the F being more impt task) I will never use Chem-Dry by the Millers again. I had called them because the previous Chem-Dry company I used that had done such a great job I couldn't locate.
