The worst business to work with. Janak Zahlawadia who owns this business is a fraud and doesn't have any integrity. He has worked on our flooring project and cheated us with low-quality installation. He doesn't respond to our calls or help us with a resolution. I don't recommend working with Carpets by Conrad/Janak/Apollo Tiles. This business should be closed by the county immediately to save others from getting cheated by this unprofessional business owner and his team. Fellow Indians, this is for you, don't trust this guy at all.

Beware of Carpets by Conrad (CBC). This company had a great reputation, which is why we recently hired CBC for a $15k flooring project, but we had to part ways with them partway through the job because their workmanship was shoddy and the owner was extremely argumentative and concealed a major error. Apologies for the length of this review, but I feel that I owe it to the community to share our experience. This fall we worked with Tim, the owner, on planning a whole-house flooring project. Tim was very friendly and helpful during the sales process. Of three bids we received for carpet, tile, and hardwoods throughout our home, CBC was the most expensive, but we chose them anyway because of their great reputation. I'm sad to say we have been deeply disappointed by the workmanship and the customer service, and sorely regret using CBC. It began with the carpet upstairs. Although we asked for some squeaky boards to be screwed down before they laid the new carpet, the installation crew blew us off and didn't do it, so now every time we walk down the hall, the floor squeaks. The major problem we had, though, was with the tile in the bathrooms. We selected large-format (12"x24") tile. The tile was installed uneven and not flush (i.e., the edge of one tile was noticeably higher/lower than the adjacent tile). It looked terrible. When we brought this up with Tim, he argued with us in a very heated exchange and said that our expectations were unreasonable, that the tile was installed properly, and that we were not in the industry so we don't know how it was supposed to look. I thought that maybe my expectations were too high, so I brought in three different people in the industry to separately inspect the job, and all said that the tile was laid improperly. None had a job on the line, so they had no incentive to criticize the work. I also researched how large-format tile is supposed to be installed and discovered that the tile manufacturer and industry standards (ANSI) require installation at no more than a 1/3 overlap to avoid the unevenness we experienced. CBC installed the tile at 50% overlap. When I asked Tim how he could claim the tile was installed properly when it was against industry standards and the manufacturer requirements, he had no explanation nor did he apologize. At that point, we had lost trust in Tim and informed him that we would not be using CBC for the hardwood flooring. We had paid him 50% down (almost $8000), and we asked for a refund of $3750, the portion that covered the tile and part of the wood floor project. That was in November 2016. We are still waiting on our refund. (In the meantime, we hired another company to demo and reinstall tile in the bathrooms and it looks great.) I am sad to have to report this, and I hope that our experience was an anomaly, but based on the poor workmanship, poor customer service, and failure to refund our money, we deeply regret using CBC and would not recommend the company.

Owner can be pretty aggressive during the quote cycle, but at the end of the day the installation, pricing, and quality were as expected.

It was a very good experience. The price was exact to the estimate. The price was reasonable for what we got; it was fair. They were very professional and they gave us good advice when we were shopping around for carpet. They showed up on time and were very workmanlike. They cleaned up after themselves. There was very little disruption in our schedule when they came to do the work. They came in, did the work, cleaned up and left. We would recommend them. We would definitely use them again.

It went real well with Carpets By Conrad. I thought they were great. The installers were really courteous and came when they were supposed to. They were really nice to work with and so is the sales person.

We had a great experience. Tim's crew showed up when they promised to, installed tile in 2 days and cleaned up after they were done. Only surprise was that I needed to have a plumber on site to re-fit the commode but they told me this before removing the carpet so, I had some time to get one scheduled. I wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

I told them they already told me that and were very rude. They did finally show up. There were 2 of them and they did not speak any English. I called the company and told them that and they told me that they could speak English. They were here for about an hour and one of them left. Time kept going by. I called them again and told them that 1 person left. They told me that they had to leave to get glue for a concrete step and I don't have any concrete steps. They didn't finish, didn't have time to do it. I told them that they needed to come back the next day. They were late again the next day. After they finished, I went to check the work. There were 2 spots where the carpet wasn't even attached to the floor. A couple of other spots looked really bad. I gave them $200 less for the bill. They called me to let me know that I needed to pay them in full. It wasn't worth more trouble, so I just paid them in full.

"WE ADMIT WE WERE LATE TO THIS JOB. WE APOLOGIZED TO THEM TWICE. OUR INSTALLER HAD TROUBLE LOCATING ONE OF HIS HELPERS. WE WOULD HAVE FINISHED THE INSTALL IF SHE WOULD HAVE LET US WORK PAST 5:30. WE ONLY HAD ONE SMALL ROOM LEFT. OUR INSTALLERS CAN COME AND GO AS THEY PLEASE ON AN INSTALL. THEY DO EAT LUNCH AND TAKE BREAKS. THERE WAS A CONCRETE STEP UP ON ONE PORTION OF THE JOB. OUR INSTALLERS DO SPEAK ENGLISH BUT FOUND HER TO BE RUDE, BOSSY AND ANTI-HISPANIC SO THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SPEAK WITH HER. WE FINISHED THE JOB THE NEXT MORNING AND PROMISED HER A WARRANTY TO FIX ANY PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE."

The crew that came to do the work was awesome. They were polite, answered all of our questions, and worked steadily throughout the day. They took great care in moving all of our pieces of furniture, making sure nothing was damaged. The men cleared the rooms, took away all of the carpet and tack strips and swept the area. They added concrete to level the surfaces and chipped away old concrete to level other areas. Door casings and the area around the fireplace were under cut so that the flooring would be level. They proceeded to lay the foam padding and then the laminate flooring. When the flooring had been installed, they added the primed quarter-round and painted it with the paint we furnished. Furniture was replaced and the whole area was cleaned. This process took only two days. On Monday we paid our final bill and asked about floor care. David Romero GAVE us a free floor cleaning kit that included a pad, handle, and liquid cleaner. The whole process was worry free!

Sherry, the salesperson, was professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. She advised me in my selection and gave us lots of choices. The installation was scheduled promptly and began ahead of schedule. All work was completed as promised and was of a high quality. The house was cleaned when they left. This is the sixth job Conrad has done for me and all have been to the same standard.

Conrad's ended up being an excellent carpet installer for us. We recommended them to several of our neighbors. For us they were really dependable and the carpet they sold us was perfect. The texture, the cost, the style, and the coloring all fit perfectly. We have used them for wood flooring and tile in the past.

Carpets By Conrad was an excellent company to use for carpet or tile installation. We were so impressed with their work we planned on using them for some tile installation later. They came highly recommended from a family member. We wanted a high grade of material and that was what we got. We didn t have any problems with the installation and havent had any problems with the carpet since it was laid.

This company did an amazing job and I am very pleased with the outcome. The floor looks beautifully and professionally done. I have no complaints. So far, I have not had any problems keeping the grout lines clean or anything. I would highly recommend this company to anyone and I would never have a problem using them again.
