Michael has a very professional demeanor and a good design sense. He is a joy to work with. He makes good decisions and can recommend cost effective solutions to your home repair problems. I was a bit hesitant to hire him because he bills by the hour, but he is conscientious and I never observed him trying to "milk the clock". If anything, he works harder to get stuff done. Also, if you are paying someone by the job, their incentive is to get it done as quickly as possible, vs doing it correctly. I would rather have the job done right the first time. He provides quality work at a reasonable price, and he does not subcontract out. The person you meet is the person who does the work. He did most of our work while I was working, and was able to work quickly, efficiently, and did not need to bother me with lots of questions. Most of our communication was over email and text, and we would touch base every few days to make sure things were getting done in the order that I needed them done in. If you are looking to hire an artisan that will get your projects done quickly, professionally and at a fair price, then Michael's your man! And my wife says he listens to cool music, which is high praise indeed!

My wife and I needed some work done around the house. We were planning on doing it ourselves, but we recently had a baby and found that we lacked the time. I am so glad we called Blue Sky Design who's owner Michael is an old friend. Michael was great. The first job he did for us was to replace some rotted and missing trim on the front of our house. His replacement fit in seamlessly with the old trim. He also added canned lights to our living room and brought some electrical work I had done up to code. He really shown when he built a fence in our backyard. Everyone who comes over compliments us on it. It's flawless. Lastly, he added hardwood floors over concrete in one of our rooms. They look great as well.

It went very well. I was out of town so most of our correspondence was via email. Michael came out and assessed the problems and gave me accurate estimates as to the cost. He told me which repairs were most critical and which ones I could postpone, because I could not afford to do everything at once. He communicated well with my friend who is living in the house and gave her notice of when he would be there. (Important for landlords/tenants!) He did the work promptly and for the amount quoted. All the work was done well and he didn't have problems working on my old house! I gave him an extra key to the house for access and this was not a problem. He is very trustworthy, skilled, punctual, and fair. And he's also a cool guy!
