We worked with Eddie in sales to get estimate, order the glass, and also schedule installation. Once the glass was ordered, Eddie contacted us to let us know that the glass was fabricated. We scheduled the install and their crew came out as promised to install the glass. As they fitted the glass into position, they noticed a very faint scratch parallel to one edge. They apologized for the inconvenience and promptly contacted the office and ordered another glass panel. They also allowed us to keep the scratched panel installed so that we could use the shower until the new glass panel was fabricated and installed.
Eddie handled the situation perfectly. It turns out that there was a batch of glass panels that went through fabrication at the time of our glass panel and they had similar faint scratches. Eddie let us know that the fabrication equipment was cleared of the particulate causing the problem and that our replacement glass would be perfect. And it was. The install crew came out and installed the new glass panel at our convenience. Overall, it was a great experience dealing with Eddie and Binswanger even though we had that little hiccup.

I brought the two panes to be replaced with me for accuracy. Measurements were taken and $ and time estimate provided. I waited for my order. I arrived at Binswanger approx. 10:20 a.m. and left with my order at 10:55 a.m. I don't know if 'same-day' service is always available, but this vendor was courteous, fast, and honest.

The project involved replacing a shower door and side panel with a frameless glass door and panel. The installation two person crew installed the items, but seemed in a hurry. Later I found that the glass door did not shut tight against the panel plastic door stop/seal, the bottom threshold was not located corrected allowing water to leak out of the shower stall. I already knew that the plastic bottom door seal was broken when it was installed. In addition, when the shower was used, the steamed glass showed residue remaining from apparently a label that had been on the glass. Since the glass had been coated at the store with a diamond fusion coating, it now meant that at least a portion of the glass would have to be recoated after the residue was removed.
On the second visit, the technicial put shims behind the hinges so that the door would shut tight against the plastic stop on the panel. He said that he could not reverse the pins in the hinghes because that would cause too much force and the glass would break.
At this point I called the manager of the store to brief him on the poor installation. He sent out a different crew who after two hours corrected all of the installation issues, including reversing the pins in the hinges.
In my opinion, this installation could have been done correctly on the first visit. Workmanship quality was missing from the start.

We needed to replace a small (about 10" square) window in a door. City code required a switch to tempered glass. Final bill was just under $300. The breakdown was about $30 for the glass, $240 for labor, $7.50 for supplies, $10 for an energy surcharge (applied by the company, not by an outside agency. When I inquired about the $240 charge I was told that because it was tempered glass they had to come and measure it (1 hour flat rate labor charge at $80 an hour), then return with the glass an do the replacement (2 hour flat rate labor charge = $160). These flat rates appear to be a way to charge a lot for a small job. I'm not upset about the price, just want to pass along the experience. I am not sophisticated in this field and it may be that this type of charge is standard industry practice. I do recommend that you call around to find out whether that is the case before deciding on this company. The work was competently done, but the job was not difficult so any judgment of quality would not be useful
Response from BINSWANGER GLASS
"Member, Thank you for your comment. I can understand your frustration for a job that looks so small to expensive. Even though the glass is small, the time and effort of the installers is what drove it. So if your piece was a 36" square, chances are your labor rate would be the same. The key is the tempered glass- that can NOT be re-fabricated after it is made- so that is why we have to come measure first. (If it was non tempered, that can be cut down or even cut from our truck on the visit) The energy surcharge is something is is passed down to us by our supplier and is not something we created. I am glad that the installation went well and we take great pride in providing excellent quality and service. I would hope the next time you need a glass related product you do give us another chance. I am confident that our pricing is in line but our service, quality and commitment is what sets us apart. Thank you again for the comment and hearing us out."

They were very accurate on their estimate of how much it was going to cost. They showed up on time. They explained the whole process of how the job was going to go. They are a very professional company.

Our contractor oversaw the project as we were out of town. However when we returned, we noticed our wood floors were scratched by the boots of the workmen. Apparently it's a known issues that there are microscopic bits of glass in their cutting room that get into their workers boots. They are supposed to wear shoe covers but apparently did not. We now have PERMANENT scratches in our floors and up our stairs. Our contractor was unable to resolve the issue.
