Ben's Workshop was hesitant to work on my '83 Mercedes Benz 300D as Austin has had an influx of these autos due to BioDiesel interest and many are in poor condition ("turn one bolt, break two"). They agreed to work on my car b/c I perform most of the work myself, am steadily upgrading it and understand that owning/working on the car is a labor of love. The work was done quickly. The price was reasonable. They were pleasant and friendly and informative. I appreciate a auto repair business that will not work on vehicles that may have so many problems that satisfaction can not be reached in the work done. Working on the car myself, I have learned that unpleasant surprises can happen on these beautiful, but old/classic, cars. I also inherently trust a mechanic that acknowledges when something does not need to be replaced or repaired.

I used to take my Benz to the dealer. Since I started working downtown I thought I'd try Ben's workshop. I was pleasantly surprised when Ben himself talked with me and walked me through the work that needed and didn't need to be done. He went through all my old service records from the dealer and was able to map out a maintenance plan. He even told me some things the dealer did that could have waited and some things they don't do that should be. Ben is very knowledgeable about the Mercedes engineering and has invested a lot in getting state-of-the-art equipment. He took the time to crawl under the car and show me some things with my tires that needed addressing even though he wouldn't get a sale. It was a pleasure working with them. They also picked me up and dropped me off with no waiting!
