BARRETT SHADE

I took my lawnmower to Barrett for repair. He kept it for 3 weeks, and told me it needed extra parts, so the cost was twice as much as he quoted. He charged me for removing a part he couldn't replace. He was defensive and testy when I questioned him about the necessity of the extra parts & labor. I understand that sometimes it's difficult to estimate the cost of repairs, but this guy was totally unwilling to negotiate, and cranky as well. A rip-off? Perhaps not, but I wouldn't take anything to him in the future. He also sold me a chainsaw as barely used, and when I checked the price later, could have gotten it new at Home Depo for 15% less - yeah my bad, but that's not my idea of fair dealing, I wouldn't buy anything from him either. Bottom line: overpriced and underserviced.

This was an old mower given to me. Barrett cleaned it up, replaced the necessary items and was done in an hour. He is friendly and fast. I would definitely go to him again!

My interaction was the model of efficiency: I pulled up, offloaded the mower from my trailer, and Shade worked on it right away and had the job done in under 20 minutes. I'll definitely take more work to him when I need it done.

I've used Shade Barrett three times now for various mowers, and I have always had a great experience. The last one he did, he fixed it BETTER than when it was new (starts faster/instantly, runs smoother and with more power). His prices are fair, and he stands behind his work, too. Considering the level of service in this society, I give Barrett's 5 stars - as good as it gets. He's not cheap, but he's FAIR and honest and he backs his work. Oh, and he fixed my mower within a few days.
