Rick installed a frameless glass shower door on our tub incorrectly. The sliding door should go on the inside of the stationary panel per the manufacturers instructions. Now, an enormous amount of water floods our floor with every shower. He was non-responsive to my request to fix it.

It went terribly. They were late on all aspects of every job. I had to have a third party come in to correct some of the issues.

I contacted quite a few companies from Angie's List in late November have a new gas stovetop, new hood, and reverse osmosis system installed.  The other companies would not call back and the few that did told me it was beyond their scope of work.
This was not a simple job, though.
The hood required an exhaust system (with ducting) be installed through a wall with stucco on the outside of the home.  The range top was also not a simple drop in job either, as the existing stove top was a downdraft model (built-in) and I was replacing it with a 5 burner gas cooktop (where the fifth burner took the previous place of the built in downdraft model).
When I spoke with Rick at Austin Kitchen and Bath, he told me that he could instantly accomplish this task and that it should be no problem for his crew.
I sent Rick, by email, a few detailed pictures with drawings on them of what I wanted, along with the dimensions of the parts I purchased.  I used my iPhone and the app Skitch to markup the photos showing him what was happening and what I wanted.  I sent those with a detailed explanation of my work requirements.
Rick received it and was extremely timely in getting back with me regarding the detailed scope of work, including drilling a hole in my stone countertop for the reverse osmosis system, placing exhaust system in place for the new hood, and patching the existing hole drilled in the cabinets by the builder/previous owner.
I was surprised he was so responsive as he was moving showrooms and his internet service provider was giving him problems in hooking up his new internet.  Kudos to Rick for doing whatever he did to get the information I sent.
He told me his guy would come over the next day and just knock it out, if I signed the contract and got it back to him that night (e.g. pricing was acceptable).  He told me it would be one but more like two days depending on what they get into.
I signed it and returned it to Rick that evening and his guy showed up the day before Thanksgiving (as promised) to at least get the cooktop and hood functioning.  The following Monday the gentleman returned to finish patching the cabinets, cut the hole in the granite, and hook up the water filter.
They cleaned everything up both times, as if they were not even there!
All appliances function perfectly and everything is excellent.
I wouldn't only use Rick's company again, I would recommend them to anyone who has any type of work they require.  I will be giving Rick's company a call for any project in the future, because he was extremely honest, responsive, and had an excellent person working for him (a reflection of what type of person owns the company).
Give them a call, you won't be disappointed.

We first contacted Rick Sparks, owner of Austin Kitchen and Bath regarding a room addition of a laundry room.  We planned to completely remodel our previous laundry room and kitchen when that was finished. Rick met with us at our home in response to our email.  He provided us with a comprehensive bid for both projects.  We could not be more pleased with our results.  Rick offered design help in all areas.  His knowledge of current trends, products and best practices was immensely helpful.  He is very focused on detail and didn't let any go unnoticed.  Even when we did.  Our custom made cabinets from his shop are wonderful.  The crew at AK&B is professional, have great work ethics, and made the whole process as painless as it could be given the magnitude of the job.  Thank you, Randall and Willie!  I loved that Rick does not contract out, he has his own employees so we always knew who was going to be in our home.
If you need a remodel, large or small, I highly recommend you give them a call!

Rick has a very good crew working for him who are very meticulous.  Before they made any decision about how to install any part of the work, they checked with us and discussed the isssues and options.  After the work was done and paid for Rick came out and attended to a stain which we inadvertently caused, and at no charge.  He left us with a near-full bottle of granite sealant for use next year, which he recommended for us.  About a week afterwards he called back to insure that we were happy with the work, which we were.  I give him and his company, Austin Kitchen and Bath, a grade of A+.

Rick and his crew took a small, 1970's galley kitchen and made it beautiful!  They had to knock out a wall an completely gut the old kitchen, then lay new tile, install can lights, new tile backsplashes, beautiful cabinets with custom pulls, and rewire everything.  They made great suggestions for a corner cabinet with lights and a glass door, and installed lazy susans and pantry pullouts that made my small space seem much bigger.  I can't be happier, and I will certainly call Rick again when it's time to remodel my bathroom.  The crew was efficient, polite, and cleaned up after themselves every night.

The room addition was done in a very professional manner.  All of Rick's employees were knowledgeable, fast and took pride in their work.  Rick was involved in the whole process and came out to check with us to make sure we were pleased.  In all it was a pleasant experience and well worth the cost.  We have already contracted the company to do our kitchen remodel.

I needed two bathrooms remodeled. I selected Austin Kitchen and Bath after talking to and reviewing several remoderlers in the area. I am so glad I did.  Mr. Sparks is experienced and very knowledgeable about remodeling. His suggestions made all the difference in the final look of the bathrooms. Both bathroom's finished look exceeded my expectations. They are beautiful.
Mr. Sparks was very patient and helpful while I tried to make all the decisions about materials and colors.  His crew began on the date negociated and worked around our schedule during the 3 weeks of work. When his crew began working, they were very respectful of our property and our animals.
We are so pleased with the result that we want to highly recommend Austin Kitchen and Bath to anyone needing remodeling services.

Rick did a great job on this project. We were concerned this would be a small project that most bath remodelers wouldn't take seriously. Not so for Rick. He did research on his own to come up with the best solution for the shaving ledge, talking to several vendors of pre-fabbed ledges. Communication was also much better than we've seen from other contractors. And when it came time for installation, Rick and his team were very thorough and professional. Matching existing tile work can be challenging. They did an outstanding job, and we're very happy.

I called for other bids to complete the job, two weeks before Christmas. Rick came and looked at the project, promised he could have it completed to usability by 12/31/11. I accepted his bid and he started working on 12/20/11. Mr. Sparks and his crew were here every day, all day, except Sunday, from 12/20/11 to 1/2/11 even NY's Eve Day working on the bathroom remodel. They work smoothly as a team, with Rick working and supervising every step of the way. He did take three hours off one day to go to the tile place with me and help me pick out all new tile selections as the other contractor had also taken all the tile I had purchased and we couldn't special order it in in time.

Rick checked with me to make sure he was doing what I wanted done throughout the project.. His work is meticulous, and he is very detail oriented. He offered great advice, but once I made a decision, he carried it out as I requested. He does beautiful cabinetry work in his own shop and made a great little cabinet for me. I have found him to keep his word, to be honest in his appraisals of what is needed and what can be expected, and to be ?on the money? with finance projections. I heartily recommend him. If you have any questions about this project, feel free to call me.

Everyone should have a chance to experience working with a reliable, honest and talented remodeler. And I?m not getting reimbursed or compensated in any way for this review. Rick has genuinely impressed me with his conscientiousness and his abilities; he bent over backwards, and sideways, to please me and give me the renovated bathroom of my dreams.

both times i worked with rick he responded quickly to my request for an estimate and worked closely with me on the design ideas for the remodels. he offered many helpful suggestions and always listened closely and respectfully to my ideas. i often want designs and materials that are creatively different than most other people and rick finds a way to make my ideas and vision happen while talking me through the possible ways my design may be not as functional as i'd like. in the end we have always come up with something that functions beautifully and looks the way i want it. his custom cabinets are the highlight of the remodels. they are flawless and designed exactly how i want them. he had a lot of great ideas about making them in a way that maximized the space and look the best. rick's team shows up when they say they will and get finished when promised. and when there have been times that i wanted something changed or done a little differently - rick just takes care of it. he's not happy until i am. a story that really stands out for me happened when i sold a house they had worked on. the work had been done 5 years before i sold it and the inspector had a question about it (you know how over the top some inspectors are). i called rick and he came over right away - after 5 years. he checked it out and changed something for me the next day so i could go ahead with the sale of the house. he also sent a guy over immediately to fix a problem another contractor (who wouldn't stand behind his work) had created.rick is a trustworthy guy who is easy to work with and who gets the job done. i'm pleased with the work he's done on both my homes and plan on having him do more work for me in the future.

Rick ripped out our moldy bathroom and installed a new one. Upsides: *The new shower looks good *Price was competitive *Work completed on time *Although you can't judge how a shower will hold up until years down the road, they say they used a one-piece rubber liner that sounds like it will do a good job of preventing future shower leaks Downsides: *It wasn't clear to me that the estimate didn't include tile or shower fixtures. We ended up spending an additional $1,400 on these items. *Drywall dust got into our HVAC, and we breathed it for weeks. Make sure they turn off the HVAC before work begins and keep it off the whole time. *We had to inspect the work daily and point out a few things (uneven tiling, reversed hot and cold, etc.). Rick was very responsive to fixing those things when we pointed them out, though.

Definitely use this company for remodel/repairs!!! At the beginning, I thought it too good to be true. However, AK&B was better than even my greatest expectations. It began with the owner, Rick, explaining how long he had been in business and the services they offer. He then explained that there was no job too small, even though most contractors wouldn't even consider a small wall repair. I considered this as "good business" and was ecstatic (this was after eight calls to different contractors explaining what the issue was). Every contractor I contacted stated they wouldn't be able to get to it for several weeks, if not months. Rick stated that they would arrive between 9:30 and 10am. To my surprise, they were on time and even recognized the note on our door explaining not to ring the doorbell or knock due to a pet undergoing heartworm treatment. I met John at the door and he was the most polite and personable contractor I've ever had to deal with. This was only the beginning... Before he started, he fully explained what he was going to be doing. He kept me updated on the status along the way while remaining diligent on the job itself. You have to understand why this was so important; I had been dreading this repair for several months and had not had the time to attempt the job myself. John made it extremely easy on me, while making sure the job was done correctly. After completion, he went through the repair with me and explained how to prevent further damage in the future. He went even further to repair a gap in the baseboard that had been done incorrectly by the previous owner. I would have paid more for the job, simply due to John's professionalism and kindness. I hardly write reviews for jobs completed unless they are done poorly, but this was worth the time. If you need a remodel/repair or even custom cabinets, do yourself a favor and hire these guys. You'll thank me later.

Austin Kitchen and Bath did an outstanding job from start to finish! They were professional, punctual, experienced, courteous, respectful, and affordable. They listened to what I wanted to accomplish and gave me some very helpful advice to add value and save money. I appreciated dealing with a company that has the experience level and integrity that they have. This company stands out in their field. My wife was amazed at the difference they made in our kitchen and master bedroom closet. I will definitely have them work for me again when needed.

We decided to sell our house but needed to fix the master shower bath before we put the house on market. Our Realtor recommended Rent-A-Man Austin Kitchen and Bath. Our house was over 30 years old and we had done extensive remodeling over the years so we were very familiar with working with contractors. We called three contractors to bid on our shower remodel. Rick (owner of) Austin Kitchen and Bath was very responsive answering the phone on the first try and coming out to inspect job immediately. Another contractor finally got back to me two weeks after I called, which was too late, the other contractor had me send him pictures and made a bid over the phone without seeing the job in person. Austin Kitchen and Bath bid was competitively priced and they were able to start work immediately. Rick came out, inspected the work to be done, took lots of pictures, then sent us the bid via email the next day. His bid contained detailed line items for all the work to be done and contained one amount. He asked for half of the amount up front and the rest paid when work was completed. Rick is one of the only contractors we have worked with who's bid amount did not change in the end. In the end, we paid exactly what the original bid estimated. We have done three other jobs with Rick since our bath remodel and it's always the same, the bid is the final amount you pay. In one case, we added some work half way through the job, but Rick created us a separate bid for that work. Ricks crew showed up at 8am on time everyday Monday-Friday and worked till about 4:30 or 5pm. They installed a dropbox outside, so our house key never left the site. His crew never bothered us if we were home during the day and kept the work area extremely clean after each day. On several occasions I saw Rick stop by in the morning to inspect job/meet with the crew and also during the evening before they left. It took just over a week to complete the shower and it looked/worked perfectly! We sold the house 1 day after putting it on the market! The shower even has a square drain which you don't find around here (and we have looked at alot of homes since we just moved). The floor shower tiles feels like felt when you stand on it when it's wet. Rick did the entire design on his own, picking tile color, style, patterns. My wife was very pleased with Rick because she didn't have to do anything or get after anybody, like other contractors. The work just got done, quickly and quietly and Rick made sure anything that looked or felt odd got corrected before we saw it. I was very pleased because Rick was so responsive. He answers his cell phone all the time anytime, and when u pay someone this much money, it's good to know they are still there. Good job Austin Kitchen and Bath.

After Rick gave us the bid they were ready to go in a couple days. It was a large job but they moved quickly for the most part. Rent a Mans worker's are pleasant and professional. I never had any concerns with them being in our home. The craftsmanship and attention to detail was impressive. Some of the job was designed up as we went and several times we made changes after work had started. They were generally very patient with us. Rent a Man left us with a beautiful finished product and did a great job on clean-up. I look forward to using them again in the future.
