About us

Previously Austin Engineering Group, Austin Enviro Group is a family owned consultanting company specializing in environmental and industrial hygiene consulting. We perform asbestos and indoor air quality assessments (water damage, mold, chemical, general air quality and radon gas)additionally we perform Environmental Site Assessments meeting both the ASTM and EPA standards and guidelines. We also perform general industrial hygiene testing and consulting for businesses within an approximate radius of 100 miles of Austin, Texas. Typically we only charge for mileage outside the city of Austin and will usually waive any hourly charges for travel. We offer discounts on a case by case basis depending on the particular services requested. We are fully licensed by the State of Texas and meet all federal requirements for ESA/EPA AAI assessments. The owner of the company and chief investigator, Mr. Ralph Bonnell, is also a certified Industrial Hygienist with over 30 years of experience. He has degrees in Chemical Engineering(BS U of H), Industrial hygiene (MS Texas A&M) and Pre-Medical biology/chemistry (BA Austin College).

I felt confident enough to obtain the samples myself so I took scrapings from 5 rooms, put them in zip lock bags and met Ralph after work to deliver them.

The owner answered my call late on a Monday evening when I was expecting to leave a voicemail message. He talked to me about the services his company provided and explained what the options are when issues like this come up. He scheduled a meeting with me for the following day. He arrived at our house on Tuesday, spent 2 hours with me answering questions and helping us firgure out what the best way to move forward was if we did test positive for asbestos. He got the samples he needed, rushed them to the lab and was able to call us back a few hours later with an answer. He was a very calm voice in a time of high stress and made my husband and I feel happy with the choice we made to have testing done to keep our family safe.
He did an amazing job and I would highly recommend him but hope to never have to use his services for the same reason again. :)

Ralph Bonnell worked diligently during the inspection. The moisture meters were useful, but required a lot of sampling to get a general idea of the water activity. Ralph was able to determine the amount of water in the wall and the approximate source of the leak. His search for leaks throughout the rest of the house was negative. The moisture meters are much more effective on a known problem than a random search.
