It went very poorly. After taking our deposit, the job kept not getting done. The company didn't respond to phone calls trying to find out why things were taking so long. When we did finally make contact, they offered a series of dubious explanations -- some apparent outright lies -- as to why they were unable to get the work finished. When they finally did start giving us dates for installation, the dates were canceled that morning or the workers did not show up at all. They did finally finish the job, but only after weeks of misrepresentations, delays and unpredictable peformance. The work itself appears acceptable, though not what you would call craftsmanship. Some of the measurements were off, so the fit and finish is not professional, and some of the awnings are not straight.
The one thing they did do promptly, however, was start barraging us with requests for final payment the minute their workers left the site.

-Homeowner (me) made appointment for Thursday @11:am
-HO wanted to make appointment for Friday, but Austin American Awning said they NO availabilities on Friday
-HO drove from Houston to Austin at 7:00am in order to be on time for appointment - HO missed work
-11:00am came and went, HO called at noon to confirm Austin American Awning would still be coming
-AAA said they changed schedule
-HO showed frustration at not being contacted upon schedule change
-AAA stated that the office does not communicate with the installers and acted as if the HO was over the top for being upset
-HO set up appointment for following day, Friday at 8:00am
-8:00am came and went, HO called at 9:00 to confirm AAA would still be coming
-AAA said 10:00am
-AAA arrived at 10:00am
-Everything was going well
-11:45am installers stated they would take a 45min lunch break, return, and complete job
-12:30pm AAA installers had not returned
-1:00pm AAA installers had not returned
-2:00 AAA installers had not returned
-3:00 AAA installers had not returned
-3:45am HO called AAA
-Bossy (contact person) said one of the installers had fallen off a ladder and was now in the hospital
-When HO (again) showed frustration : because 1] no one called to notify HO of situation 2]HO was observing installation all morning and was assured that this was the only morning job (even though originally Friday was entirely booked and we were unable to make an appointment upon first scheduling attempt) on their schedule and did not witness any accidents : the HO was yelled at and asked "Do you want me to play teacher and get a doctor's note to prove it to you?" -Bossy H.
