They found nothing wrong, and wouldn't except payment even though I offered.

I had a State of Texas vehicle transmission rebuilt here years and years ago and was happy to see the outfit on Angie's when my Dodge truck transmission went south. Had a complete rebuild with a new heavy duty torque converter installed and it has worked perfectly for the last 20,000 miles. I am looking forward to at least another 80,000 out of this rebuild. These guys did a great job. The main builder (unless he has left) has been doing this for many years and is a journeyman's journey man. Fair price, good service, real work place, no frills, looks like a shop where work takes place. If you are a yuppie looking for a spotless floor, this is not your place. If you want a decent rebuild on a well used transmission, load up!

Indications: Vehicle started having trouble going into 3rd and OD. This went on for 2 or 3 days. Then the "bad" sounds started under the hood, when taking vehicle in and out of park, drive, reverse, etc. Had vehicle towed in for diagnostics/quote (at different garage). Was quoted $2,800 to $3,100.00. Had vehicle towed back to the house, until funds could be secured. Called around during wait and was quoted $2,400 - $2,700 by Chris at Austin Transmission and Clutch. He was very pleasant and friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. During the rebuilding of my transmission, Matt kept us informed of the status and ETA. The rebuild ended up costing over $3.000, but Matt only charged me the $2,700, since that's what they quoted me. I was more that IMPRESSED with the professionalism. Then, it turns out that the reason why my transmission went out in the first place was because of a faulty Electronic Control Module (ECM) and that If I drove my car without replacing it (which will cost another $1,000 + labor, so the dealer tells me), I'll ruin my brand new transmission. Anyways, Matt is such a cool dude, he let me leave my car at his shop for a few weeks while I saved up the money to have the additional repairs done, which they unfortunately could not do. This allowed me to avoid the additional expense of having to pay to have my car towed all the way home and then back into town to another shop. We don't exactly live close in. I've been telling everybody I know to check these guys out!

Chris and Matt Nelson the owners are excellent and went out of their way to make a difficult experience easier to accept. Let me explain I own a 2003 Pontiac Vibe with a 5spd manual transmission. The car has approximately 142,000 miles and a noise had developed when in 4th and 5th gear. I had been to another local shop and was advised not to worry about the noise it is so faint and the car shifts fine. I then found Austin Transmission and Clutch via the web.

The Senior Technician, Mark Barnett drove the car with me and he could not hear the noise. Then they placed the car on a hoist and ran it through the gears. The noise was loud and coming from inside the transmission. They provided me an estimate to repair or completely rebuild and install a new clutch. I decided to have them rebuild the unit with new bearings, synchros and seals.Plus a new clutch, pressure plate and disc to include a flywheel resurface. The job took a week to do because parts had to be ordered from out of state (bearing and synchros kit).

The car was returned and it drives great! Steering wheel centered, no alignment pull or push, and most importantly the clutch is easy to use and shifting the car in all gears plus reverse is easy and smooth. While they may not be the most modern looking shop in town. They were true to their word, kept me informed and there were no surprises when I picked up the car. The estimate and the actual charges matched. They also honored their web site discount for clutch repairs. I will be using them in the future should a need arise.
