They seem to run through our property very quickly and always demand to be paid immediately.   We don't find their service to be effective.  
When I tried to get out of the contract they are very quick to remind me that I signed up for a year's service.  They reminded my that if I don't take the service they will file a claim for service  at the full price (before the discount) of $199/Quarter for the contract period.
I mentioned that I felt scamed, and the offical at the company merely said "your an adult".  "You should know what you are signing up for".

The guy I signed up with told me that the bait used would cause rate to dehydrate so there would be no smell. Also told me that my dogs should be fine if they ate the rat after it ingested the poison.
Both statements were lies and my vet should me the package of the poison bait used and it was written on the box in large letters, Caution:  poisoning on secondary ingestion. I have three dogs and sometimes visiting dogs so I called and had them remove the traps immediately and clean up all the highly stinky dead rats.
The woman my husband talked to about all this was rude and indifferent. Never would put us through to the manager. There is also no way to discover manager's name or even the corporate address or email.
She is going to turn over to collection agency the full price of the service because they, not us, breached the contract by lying to us.

Sometimes, Alterra Pest Control emails saying when our provider will be here, and it's a very short time notice, so that I can't email and say, "Don't come then" or "I want something in addition done when he comes." A big complaint about them is that they go into an area that they are not serving and do door-to-door sales. That can be very intrusive. They hit me at a moment when I had fleas, fire ants and some other critters. I told them I had grandchildren who were here often, so the mice traps had to be safe traps and safe chemicals. They have assured me that it is. When I've had them come back, between routine treatments, there's no charge. I consider them reasonable priced. Whenever I call and say, "Help, I have fleas", they're here within a day or two, depending on my schedule. They are very good at educating on prevention and on what we need to do for follow-up and prep, before they come. I've been using them now for 13 months. They come out monthly. They're prompt and thorough. They educate you about prevention and management. Their staff is uniformed and they identify themselves immediately.

The format is certainly convenient for the company, but it doesn't play well for us.  After a period of time, we started getting pests in the house and wondered why the company wasn't showing up.  It wasn't until we called and complained that they pointed out the fine print of their treament structure in the contract.  We didn't like that, nor did we appreciate that this wasn't spelled out when we signed up, but they held us to the contract.
Their outdoor visits were poor - we continued to get wasp nests and ant beds throughout the entire year, and I had to point out ant beds to them (they weren't walking the property looking for them).
On one early indoor visit, we had reported maggots at the bottom of one of the trash can.  When the tech went treat the maggots, he lifted the trash can and saw a handful of maggots on the floor.  He actually shrieked in fright!
So no - price structure is attractive, but you don't get what you pay for.  We're going back to Home Team or ABC.

Terrible - did not do what they said they would do. Missed an area on the second floor.  Called to cancel but was charged another $100 so I told them I wanted them to come back & finish. They sent a different guy back but he couldn't access the area on the second floor because they don't use ladders. Never told me that on the contract. So the guy says he's going to do the house exterior again & do granules on the grass.  I asked him why - did theI1st guy not do a good job??  He did a lousy job the first time but they don't care because they will come back as often as you call them.  I prefer companies that do their best the 1st time. Who has time for this type of business mentality?  Manager wouldn't work w/ me at all!! Bottom line $200 for (1) incomplete exterior pest control treatment. Rip Off

We were happy with the service - no bugs while under contract.  Speaking of contracts - that's where they fell down.  We did a one year service contract which I would not recommend.  The problem was we sold our house and had to eat 140 bucks - ouch!
In all fairness, they did offer us the "opportunity" to transfer the contract to a friend.  That would've cost another 70 bucks on top of the 140 - not such a great deal.
Too bad there's no out like when you sell a house - seems pretty fair to me to let us out of the contract since we're no longer there.
Lesson learned - avoid long term contracts - you never know what the future holds.

Signed up for recurring service and every visit has been prompt and professional. The technician dresses in uniform and drives a clean well marked vehicle. Upon arriving they introduce themselves and ask if there are any specific issues or concerns with pests. Additionally they respect and special requests and inform me of their findings and the applied treatment. We are very happy with Alterra.

We've had ABC Pest service for years, to make sure termites stay away. But in the winter we always get sugar ants around the faucets, and in spring and summer we usually have wasp nests under our porch eaves. We have some spiders (not really worried about them), and an occasional wood roach after a rainfall.
One of our neighbors called in Alterra to treat for roof rats and other pests, and Alterra offered a good deal on treatment while they were in the neighborhood. We contracted and scheduled for service next day. The technician who came today was punctual and went over everything he planned to do -- which aligned exactly with what the salesman described to us yesterday. 
The technician dusted around the outside of the house and sprayed a perimeter about 3-ft around the house. He sprayed the yard for ants, and sprayed the garage for spiders.
The technician was friendly, efficient, and explained everything he did. As I understand it, treatment covers pests from front-to-back of our property, it's guaranteed, and Alterra will return for free re-treatment if we notice more pests.
