Allandale Lawn & Landscape

Their price is competitive. I'm using them on an ongoing basis. They are thorough, punctual and polite. Their invoicing is sometimes a little bit unclear.

All services performed as agreed. Yard looks 100 times better.
Took a couple a day or two to initially respond to my voice mail. Once we finally connect, the arrived at the agreed upon time and completed all the work.

Chris Griffith, owner and designer for Allandale Land Design, the creative wing of Allandale Lawn and Landscape, met with us on several occasions to discuss our concept of turning yards that were primarily St. Augustine grass lawns into much lower water usage landscapes. We wanted to create a dense Texas woods look in the back yard, with mature trees and shrubs that, once fully established in the ground, would need little or no watering during much of the year. For the front yard, we were inspired by the natural wildflower gardens at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and wanted a combination of wildflowers, drought tolerant native ornamental grasses, native sedges, and a bit of Thunder Turf grass seed mix to hold the soil together in areas where there might be erosion in heavy rains.
Chris was always prompt for meetings, notepad in hand, and was very helpful in conceptualizing the new yards, roughing out sketches, choosing appropriate trees and other plants, and providing a photo layout showing us suggested plant material, so we could see how they might work together before they went into the ground. Chris line-itemed each plant and service, so there were no 'extras' or hidden surprises.
The installation schedule was set. Chris' seasoned crew was on schedule, on time and very good at their jobs. They removed some bad dirt, unwanted grass and weeds in the front yard first , did beautiful work leveling and grading the space in preparation for planting and seeding. Chris came by numerous times each day throughout the installation week to supervise and double check his team's work. His lead installer, Jeremy, always checked in with us if they had any questions or if a decision needed to be made. They allowed us to help position and rotate trees in their pre-dug holes, so we could get the orientation just right before final dirt went in. Each day, the crew cleaned up empty plant containers and other debris. We were extremely impressed with their professionalism and integrity.
By the time the final layer of mulch went down over the seed mix in the front, and around each of the trees or shrubs in the back, Allandale had transformed our yards and had more than met our expectations. The plants they brought in were mature, high quality and very healthy. We felt as if we got our money's worth every step of the way. Highly recommend.

As I stated, I have used Allandale of many years and I've never had a complaint. Nothing better than coming home from work to a beautiful yard and knowing I can do something more fun than mowing and edging my yard.

Overall, the experience was great. Their prices on plants are as good or better than nurseries, and the price includes the planting, too. They did a good job.

Did exactly what we needed them to do. Bart gave me a price and his guys came up and did an awesome job mowing and edging our yard. My garage door was open and they even blew out any debris that was on the ground in there! Nice job and definitely recommend them.

They do an excellent job. Sometimes the lawn grows faster at certain times of the year. The head of the crew has actually come to the door and suggest that I skip a week when I don't need it. They are also really good at rescheduling if there is a need to. They are just nice people, and are reasonably priced. They also suggested a good fertilization company when I had some problems with dry spots in the lawn. They are willing to work with you on exactly what you want for your own lawn.

Could not ask for better!

I used them primary for mowing my daughter's yard as I live in Dallas and she lives in Austin. They use to clean up her yard of the debris, weeding and mowing. They did a good job. I had called them the Friday before the Memorial Day to mow my daughter's yard but I haven't heard back from them yet. They were very responsive for the first and the second time I used them but for the last two times it's like I sound to a black hole, and ended up cancelling them. I'm disappointed with them. I don't think that I would use them again in the future.

Professional, friendly and responsive with good follow-through and fair pricing.

The experience went very well. I called to have my daughter's overgrown lawn mowed. Allendale was very responsive and sent a team out to her house the very same day that I called. Burt was very pleasant, and I would definitely use Allendale the next time we need her yard mowed.

They are terrible. The work was not done thoroughly. They were not responsive.

I don't remember how much I spent. I had asked them to clean some weeds out. When I came home, they had barely done any work. They wanted to charge me by the hour. They hadn't done anything. They had done very little. So I didn't want to pay them. I would not use their services again in the future.

They were a well trained crew. They had a couple of large trees that they had to get into and they had all the equipment that they needed. They were able to do the work effectively because they had all the necessary equipment. They also had the safety equipments to eliminate any kind of concern and that required expertise and care. That went very well. All the work was done without any further supervision. In other words, they were self supervising and they made sure that they did everything that they were supposed to and a little bit extra. They made sure the job site was totally clean. They hauled off all of those that they had cut. They just did a very good job. I would use their services again in the future.

Allandale mows our lawn on a semi-regular basis and we're always happy with their work. This winter we had them do bigger landscaping maintenance and they did a terrific job. They are reasonable and clear about costs, giving you alternatives when possible. The service is of a personal, small town nature and they are a small company. We've had a couple of problems with our landscaping (e.g., sprinkler head broke and was leaking) while we were out of town and they were terrific about taking care of it quickly with just a phone call on my part.

Quite happy - grass was growing within the affected area as of last fall - will wait to see if the fungus is back this year. If so, will have Allendale dig up entire area, about 4 inches deep, and resod. Was happy to at least get a diagnosis after I had tried various remedies to no avail.

Great service

We had a shade and drainage problem. They put the lawn in then brought in gravel to make a trench. They installed ground cover around an oak tree. They also did a lot of ground cover in the back, and installed a stone walkway running from the driveway to a gate in the back. This is really a good company. I brought in 3 other companies for quotes. I got them off of Angie's List and let them know that. They were prompt, courteous, and professional. They asked if they could use the water and electricity. They cleaned up after themselves. It looked how it should look when it was finished. The employees have experience and have worked with the company for a while.

Last summer (2009) I had Allandale perform a general clean up of our lawn, overgrown beds, and a couple trees. They did a decent job, and this year I attempted to hire them in late April for overall maintenance of my lawn and beds. They didn't show up for their first scheduled date. When I called to reschedule they came, but they did not take care of my beds (but charged me for bed service) for the next two visits. They also caught the base of two of my trees, and harmed two of my plants very badly with their weed eater. I called and they adjusted their charge, and said they would service my beds on their next visit. They also said they'd spread mulch if I left it out. On one of my calls I set up a sprinkler repair, which went fine. On their next visit the beds were barely touched, except with their weed eater again which killed three of my bed plants. They did not perform any appropriate weeding of the beds, and their weed eater left marks halfway around a 6 in diameter tree. I proceeded to call them and cancel their service.

Response from the owner was prompt, the job was scheduled quickly, will definitely use them again.

I found Allandale Landscaping on Angie's list. Since I don't live on the property we did everything over the phone. My calls were always answered. Bart came out to the site and we discussed everything over the phone while he was there. The work was done the following week. Bart and Tracy gave me a number of follow up phone calls with 'aftercare' instructions for the new plants. We've had many compliments on the job!

Allandale was willing to do periodic work without a contract, and at a good price. After I leave a message to request clearing leaves, the workers will show up in the next week or two, and do the work quickly and efficiently.

They were very detailed. Very expedient to get the job done.

The price is per visit, which is every 3 weeks and every 2 weeks in the summer. They are local and do a good job. They are responsive with any situation, even unique ones. I would recommend them to others.
